I can't stand Paris Hilton, so I can't help but be laughing my backside off at this news...Ms. Hilton is going to be spending 45 days in jail for violating the terms of her DUI probation.

Muhahahahaha!!!! :evil

I laughed so hard when I heard this on the news. Of course, the fact that this made the 6 o'clock news is cringe worthy (aren't we at war or something right now?) but really, this is so perfect.

She's such an idiot, and its nice to see her get her comeuppance.

Too funny. Although I'm sure her jail stay will be about as harsh as a week in one of her dad's hotels. Still, it will be nice to get a break from her disgusting antics. Although I'm sure she's so hell bent on self promotion that she'll find a way to keep her name in the news once she's out. Either that, or once she gets out she will work twice as hard at being "Paris Hilton".

Lilaena De'Ville

The judge made sure she wouldn't be allowed on work release, furloughs, use of an alternative jail, or electronic monitoring instead of jail.

Furthermore (http://www.tmz.com/2007/05/04/paris-ordered-to-serve-45-days/) :

The judge called out her rep Elliot Mintz in court, describing his testimony as "completely worthless." He also told Paris that he did not believe that she was unaware of her license suspension, adding that she had paperwork in her car stating that her license was suspended.

....Paris will serve her sentence at the Century Regional Detention Facility (CRDF). She will begin her sentence on June 5. If Hilton fails to report on the scheduled date, her sentence will be doubled.

I'd love for her to get what she deserves, but she's going to end up in a comfy cell with just about anything she wants. So she won't get nice meals and her blackberry for 45 days. Big deal. I'm glad that she's being taken from her routine of parties and engagements and sex videos, but I really don't think she's going to end up in an orange jump suit with a pile of mashes potatoes on her plate. And the more I think about it, the more I think she's going to come out of jail and try to get herself in the news even harder to make up for lost time.

You know, I kinda agree with Turbogeek here. Just ignore Paris Hilton. I would not even call this news, yet this kind of stuff get plastered all over CNN like some paparazzi gossip magazine. Other headlines that day was "Holmes 'no little wimpy kitty cat", "Anti-ageing cream sparks stampede" and "Thieves glue man to exercise bike". Sure, that's probably an entertaining read for some, but it's not news. It's gossip. Yet, it's utterly ignored by all the news networks when one of the top CIA and government executives from the 60's confess of a plot to kill Kennedy or when something POSITIVE happens. I am not interested to hear about Britney Spear's new haircut, or Tom Cruise jumping up and down in a couch at Oprah Winfrey show. I want news that broadens my understanding of what is going on in the world.

Ok, enough ranting. Granted, Paris is dumb as a bread and she is obsessed of exposing herself for some reason. She also seems to think she can do whatever the hell she wants without concequences. As you may have figured out, I don't like her. Apparently, she got false information from two lawyers about when the probation period was up, and the judge seems eager to punish hard just because she is a celebrity. That may work in her favor if the procedure is appealed. Prison could be good for her though. Maybe she will stop looking at the world with rose tinted glasses and get her feet on the ground, although that's probably too much to hope for.

Pretty much the gist of what I meant.

The problem with the celeb driven publicity machines is that even if you do your best to utterly avoid the nonsense alltogether, it's rammed in your face everywhere anyway. You see the stupid bints on magazines in shops, on ads on TV, in serious news stations, talked about... and it's just wrong. You just cant escape, no matter what you try.

It's easier to avoid living alone and not being interested in commerical TV or radio - but you have to be some sort of hermit to not know the name Paris Hilton and that sucks :(

It's not like the porn tape that made her famous is actually any good, she's obviously a dud root.

The only times I hear about her is through either Fans or SA. I have no cable services (nor do I have any basic channels on my tv even), I don't listen to the radio, and I have no interest in magazines unless it's a magazine about graphics/tutorials/art.

To say that I have limited knowledge and exposure to her and her antics is an understatement.

It might not be possible to completely ignore her, but it's certainly very easy to simply not pay attention :)

Paris Hilton is a vile moose. I loathe all that she stands for and the iota of feminism within me makes me wish she and all like her would fall off the face of the earth forever. And quite frankly, I wish we wouldn't validate her existence by talking about her.

Why do I live in a country that incarcerates pot smokers and yet lets her live? I'm quite against the death penalty, but can we write in a one time use of a calamitous accident clause?

Well, i'd like to see how many days of jailtime a person typically receives for the charges that she was convicted of before I bash her on this particular point. It is my understanding that it is not uncommon for a person to have their sentence reduced by up to 90% for similar crimes. Honestly, had she not been Paris Hilton and had been just another faceless rich trust fund brat, I bet 99 out of 100 times she wouldn't have had to spend a single day in jail. She spent three or four, which might even mean her celebrity in this instance worked AGAINST her.

Which is not to say I don't want her shot off into a black hole immediately, because I do, but I just don't want us to lose credibility by attacking her on everything including the things that she likely played little to no role in.

Let's hope she stays there for a while, and that the media shut up (unlikely, I know).

Apparently, this home arrest thing was the idea of the sheriff's department after consultation with medical staff, and the sheriff had an argument with the judge, saying this was out of his jurisdiction etc. The judge would not have any of it, and had Paris sent by car to a court hearing, and she is now behind bars again.

Outside Hilton's house earlier, there was a freakin circus. A chopper from NBC, literary hundreds of paparazzi's, and the police car with Paris almost had to mow over people to get out of there. There were photographers who ran to try and catch up with the police car. Some reporter from NBC was sent to the hospital, after he was rammed by said car, and had his microphone ripped torn in pieces..

:rolleyes

I think I've never seen a more hilarious and ridiculous news coverage than this. You know 365 days a year, I don't give a crap about Paris Hilton. I am extremely resistant to celebrity gossip. Normally, I just switch channel to real news. However, the way this was presented in the media today was just to comical and bizarre for me to ignore.

Some events of the day:

- a corrupt sheriff refusing to drive Paris to the court hearing. The judge and the sheriff argues for two hours before a car is sent to pick Paris up.

- hundreds of paparazzi photographers surrounding Hilton's house. Police car breaks out, and a chase follows with OJ Simpson type helicopter footage. In the chaos, NBC reporter get run over and sent to hospital. Paris <a href=http://wwwp.mirror.waffleimages.com/files/27/27912276eeffb91a6f9fd4ce386e3ab9888e07b1.jpg>cries like a baby</a> as they drive off to the court hearing.

- at the court hearing, Paris <a href=http://edition.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/TV/06/08/paris.hilton.ap/index.html>cries some more and yells for her mom</a>.

- as the decision of sending Paris back to jail is announced, there is this guy yelling <a href=http://audio.101megahertz.com/noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.mp3>"NOOOOOOO!!"</a>

- Fox news linking Paris Hilton to economic interest rates and the stock market. Then a space shuttle launch, and they are like "oh, crap! We almost forgot about that!". Next thing, Buzz Aldrin is on the phone talking about Paris Hilton..

It seems the human civilization reached new levels of stupidity. It's certainly not news, but just this ONCE, I have to admit the normally sleep inducing celebrity gossip nonsense was entertaining for a change. I had some good laughs :D

Amen to that, this just made my day. Yes, the news outlets completely overplayed the whole situation, but I'm glad to see someone famous finally get the shaft they deserve. There are hundreds and hundreds of inmates sitting in jails right now with rashes and verging on mental breakdowns, how many of them get released to multi-million dollar mansions to serve out their house arrest at poolside? Oh, please.

I wonder if this will change her at all? Naw, I'm sure she'll do the talk show circuit when it's all over, crying and crying and crying about how unfair it all was and how she suffered, etc. and so forth. Ugh.

But for one brief shining moment, we had this wonderful experience of her bawling in the car and then screaming for mommy when she was pulled out of the courtroom. Absolute heaven :angel.

Today is a good day.

Foound out how much I'm really worth on the job market, got a VR4 front cut to take apart with power tools, just had breakfast at 1pm, it is raining in bucket and the NPR style radio station that actually has real news and usually ignores celebety rubbish has been laughing at Hilton. And while karma does tend to bite people for laughing at other's misofrtunes, I'm sure it will politely ignore us just this once.

The only thing that makes this worth watching is that it restores a tiny bit of faith in humanity once again.

I kind of wish this was a Reality TV show because I want a camera around weepy Paris being forced to endure a grueling month and a half in upper white collar resort prison. When she's kiting the inmate in the next cell about when to exchange cigarettes for "favors" I wonder if she'll use pink ribbon?
