View Full Version : I've Finally Realized I'm Addicted To My Computer

Last Monday evening, I came home from work, fired up the computer, and to make a very long story short, Windows had a massive and apparently fatal stroke without any warning whatsoever. I spent quite a while talking to a Dell tech on the phone, and he decided that the only apparent way to fix it was a reinstall of Windows. :cry

My computer is now with the Geek Squad at the local Best Buy, and I'm posting this from my local library. Figured I'd better clean out my nearly 200 emails, since the firewall at work won't let us look at web-based email. And since I have 8 minutes left before I get tossed off the computer, I thought I'd drop by and say hi :wave.

Hopefully I'll get my computer back early in the week, since they said it would probably take 5 or 6 days. Then, although they'll be doing what data salvage they can, sounds like I'll be spending weeks and weeks trying to get the computer back to what it was before it died.

See y'all later! :wave

Good luck! I hope the withdrawal symptoms aren't too dramatic. >_<

Surprise, surprise, just picked it up, all seems to be well although the computer does seem to have had a lobotomy.

We did try a repair (the System file in Config was missing or corrupted, something like that), but I kept getting the XP BSOD when we tried to repair. I finally decided to let people a lot more knowledgeable than me try to fix it.

I kind of went through this before when I bought a new computer 2 years ago and didn't have the capability of migrating files...it's a pain in the caboose, but I'll get through it. In the scheme of things in the world, this is just a hangnail :).
