You know I wish I could play this game. I mean I play guild wars and world of warcraft already. The only problem I have with this particular game that I don't have with the other two is Guild wars is free and world of warcraft offers easily to find and buy time cards at almost every retailor. Due to the fact I have no credit card or debit.

According to the CoH/CoV site they do have 60-day buy time cards. Funny part about this is no one seems to have them not even Wal~mart.com which is the eaasiest website for me to buy crap from casue I can have it delevered to my locale store before I pay or I can just get a gift card and use it online.

So yeah even though I want to play this game CoH/CoV has lost my business do to this single fact.

Me and my housemates quit playing WoW a little while back, since it was too much of a timesink and chore to do anything with our guild at Level 70.

Instead we decided, just recently, to pick up CoH/CoV, and I'm glad we did! Everything is so simple in this game. I love that you don't have to constantly worry about the stats on an item, and that quests are instanced so there's no need to wait in line to kill certain mobs. It's much easier to just jump in for an hour, enjoy messing around with your powers, and then switch off.

I'm playing on the EU servers and my global handle is @Scarlett Sentinel :)

It could be the tutorial. I didn't have any frame rate issues, but I did notice the lava monsters were a touch sluggish (they might just have been slow, though). If you can muscle your way through the intro and into Atlas Park, it might be a little less strenuous on your laptop?

I got bored, and decided I was going to play around with the character creation options. Three hours later, I now have a level 7 archer on Defiant. ^_^;

I completed up to and including the Officer Fields missions, Jen - let me know when you're playing again, and Captain Orion will give you some back-up to finish them off. :dance

I created a controller/empath named Dedication. Going to try the game again in a few minutes.... OR take a snooze if it is still refusing to let me move with anything less than a 3-5 second delay to every command.

edit: finally figured it out - the game had me set on Ultra Mode, so I just adjusted the graphics settings and I'm playing fine now. @Goewyn is my global handle so add me as a friend :)

I read through the terms and conditions, and I couldn't see anywhere that forbade it, so I now have two accounts. Initially it was just to play around with the character generator to try and build some of my Mutants, Unite characters... but some of them ended up being too awesome to not play them, so I sort of have four characters now. ^_^;

Captain Orion (8) is the Hero formerly known as Captain Untouchable. He is a Blaster, but he's set up to balance ranged and melee combat: he's got Archery, some Mental Manipulation (to force push / knock back opponents), and will have some Jumping and Concealment powers in a few levels' time. Meredith Hunter (10) is a Tanker (Hero) with Energy Melee, and a nifty-looking energy shield for Shield Defense. He's geared up as a classic tank, but also picks up some powers that boost the defense of allies as well, so I might pick up some Tactics powers on the side. Global Chat Handle: @o6u

Hurucan (4) is a Stalker, and is my villain. He has Electrical Melee and Electric Armour, as well as Teleport (which is freakin' awesome). You can target an enemy before you teleport, and queue up an attack during... so I've been beaming down from the rooftops and electric-ing people in the face. :mischief Global Chat Handle: @Hurucan

Captain Dan Myers (5) is a Defender (Hero). He's basically Booster Gold... and thus has Force Field and Energy Blast powers, and can fly. Which is also awesome. Global Chat Handle: @Hurucan

Fortunately, I wasn't able to make any convincing versions of my other Mutants Unite characters, so those four will be it for now. Probably. ^_^;

The scary thing is, now that I know what I'm doing, it doesn't actually take that long to level characters up. :uhoh

I notice that they've changed how you get your 'pool power set' which includes your travel power. It used to be a LOT harder/took longer. I'm lvl 7 and have fly already which is awesome. :)

You have to upgrade to VIP or unlock Reward Level 2 to use tells, apparently. That's a pain. :\

Edit: I probably have reward lvl 2 though, because this is a really experienced account, not a new one.

Once you finish your mission join my team I'm trying to finish a mission and I can't deal enough damage to the end guy - he's killed me like four times now.

Unfortunately, I have six of three of the salvage types, and no more of the other, so I can't email them to myself to unlock it with anyone else yet. >_<

There are four bits of salvage from Trick or Treating - supposedly cheapo fancy dress costume stuff. There's a set of Backroom Brawler Gloves, a Statesman Mask, a Lord Recluse Helmet, and a Hamidon Costume.

Once you find all four, go to Croatoa. Head out of the station, and down the set of steps diagonally to the right. Hiding behind the right pillar / gatepost thing is a woman in a witchy hat. You talk to her, give her all four, and boom! Costume slot.

I've unlocked the extra costume set on all (6 ^_^;) of my characters, and I still have a bunch of Statesman, Brawler, and Hamidon stuff left over. The Lord Recluse Helmet was pretty rare dropping for me... but that could be pure randomness, the location I was in, or... who knows!

I also have all but nine of the costume / temp powers (I've been crossing them off a list ^_^;).


In other news... Meredith Hunter (my Tanker) is now Level 20! I've also spent my day playing around with costume changes, emotes, macros, and key binding... and I've planned out how I'm going to fill everyone's costume slots for the next few dozen levels. >_<

I am now a City of Heroes subscriber. :uhoh

I have a bazillion characters at the moment (quelle surprise :rolleyes), so that I can try out all of the different classes and a decent cross-section of the powers. I've actually planned out some stories about them that I'm going to write (with plenty of blatant comic book rip-offs ;)), which may materialise soon.

Speaking of blatant rip-offs - I decided to create a couple of bad guys. City of Villains isn't just the bad guy alignment for City of Heroes. It was created as an expansion, and it feels like it. It isn't the same game in a different place, with different enemies: you go about things in a different way, and some of the quests are a totally different style to those in the hero game.

The main reason for my post is to show off one of the characters I created. I decided I wanted someone with Leonardo style double swords... but I also wanted to craft a villain who I could use in my storytelling. I settled on a disgraced military General who goes by Kineral (the Estonian for "General"). Appearence wise, I couldn't resist a bit of Michael Hogan, particularly since he played Deathstroke (http://www.blogcdn.com/www.asylum.com/media/2010/12/icarussword.gif) in Smallville.

Running around in a uniform isn't very villainous though. But once I'd started on that slippery Deathstroke slope, I couldn't stop. So when it comes to kicking ass and taking names, Kineral dresses like this. :ohno
