I think the Giants are going to lose tomorrow. The way they are playing right now the Raiders could beat them. They are just tanking.

Well the Giants barely won, mainly thanks to Tiki Barber. They will probably get to play at Philadelphia in the playoffs and probably will get killed, as Philly handled them pretty well in New York just the other week.

Wild day really. Detroit beating Dallas! I guess they give the #1 pick to Oakland now. The Jets are in but the last spot comes down to what Denver does. Tennessee, Jacksonville, and Cincinnati are all eliminated. The Chiefs need Denver to lose. If Denver wins I blame that awful loss to Cleveland, if they had won that game they would have clinched with a win today.

I was gone for a while (went to the movies), came home and saw that Detriot had beat the Cowpies. Wow! Who would have imagined that? :D

Another weird day so far, though...I'm going to be curious to see our final standings, I have no doubt I'm far out of first by now because there have been so many upsets and unexpected endings. But that's why football is such a great game :).

Hey Jinn I need some help from your Niners :) They are down 13-10 right now. If they can come back and win my chiefs are in. I am not sure what to hope for. I sure don't want to get too excited until Denver loses.

And its GOOD!! The Chiefs are the 6th seed. Even though I am not sure if they will fair well, I am just happy they are in. Oh the 49ers impressed me, they are going to have a very good team next year.

Heh thanks, I have to say things just went perfect for KC today. I didn't think it was all possible for all the teams to lose. I thought the hardest was going to be Denver losing but they did and i have to thank the Niners for doing it.

why not run the clock out, I mean theres 4 minutes to play when all you need is a tie, just run the ball and heck the run has been working for ya

I am sorry Dizzy, and really I am. I don't care for the Broncos and am glad they lost because they put the Chiefs in the playoffs. Still, I would be happier if the Chiefs had beat Cleveland and they got in because of being 10-6.
As for running out the clock, I don't think any coach would do that there. There is no guarantee you could run out the clock. There might be 1 or 2 minutes less instead of the time they gave them the ball. If there were 2 minutes left I would agree but when they got the ball they had 7 minutes left. I don't think you try something like that when you need to win or tie.

That was a bittersweet thing for me, because I'd picked the Broncos to win today. But at least the Niners had a very good season, all things considered. I think this bodes well for them, I think they could really make a run for the championship next year :thumbup.

Anything is possible. They have a very good core of players. They need a WR to really help that offense go, IMO.

I know I am in the moment and everything but I think the Chiefs can beat the Colts. I think this because the Colts have the worse rushing defense in the NFL. The Chiefs are one of the best rushing teams. I think they will run all over them. Of course if they do that they will probably lose in SD to Marty but I would just be happy for one playoff win considering the way this season has been.

I think it's possible that the Chiefs could beat the Colts...the way the last quarter or so of the season went for Indy, I've been predicting they'll choke in the first round.

In other NFL news... the Cardinals fired Dennis Green (no surprise there), and Jim Mora Jr. also got canned by Atlanta (again, not real surprising given events in recent weeks).

So, two jobs open so far, and possibly a third could be soon, if Nick Saban decides to leave Miami to take the Alabama job.

When is Art Shell gonna get fired? :mischief

Ryan Pode

Don't forget the possibility of Bill Cowher.

Figrin D'an
Jan 1st, 2007, 05:21:12 PM
I'd say Shell will be out, except that Al Davis doesn't live in the same reality as the rest of us, which makes predicting what he'll do impossible.

Cowher's situation seems to be completely up in the air right now... no one really knows what he'll do. He won't leave for another job now, since NC State hired Tom O'Brien, but he could still just decide to "retire" for a year or two.

Jedi Master Carr
Jan 1st, 2007, 06:22:35 PM
Cowher could retire, going to have to wait and see. I am not sure what Davis will do. He could fire Shell or keep him around. Other than those two and Saban I can't think of any other coaches that might get replaced.

I think Davis should fire Shell, make Rob Ryan head coach and bring in someone with a good track record on offense.

First Al Davis needs to hire a GM. They won't get anywhere without one. Davis shouldn't be running the team anymore he is way too old.

Jedi Master Carr
Jan 1st, 2007, 09:31:30 PM
If Art Shell doesn't get fired you are waiting to see what coaches will either quit/retire. Saban and Cowher are the big two, but you have to wonder about Parcelles and Gibbs. I think Parcelles is going to insist that Owens goes or he goes. Gibbs could retire after the awful season they just have, but he might not. I guess Cleveland could fire Romeo Carrel, but I have heard no talk of that so far. Also I am going to start a playoff thread mainly to seperate the playoff talk from the offseson talk.
