Looks like Seattle is going to lose. Man that division is horrible this year. Seattle is probably going to go 9-7 and win it. I think they will win their last game against Tampa Bay, who is just horrible this year. S.F won't win out anyway. I don't think they will beat Denver in Denver.

Yeah, 10-3, first place in the division, fighting for a first round bye, obviously the worst coaching job in the league. Just go back to talking about how misunderstood and underappreciated Boller is, that makes more sense than trashing Dungy. :shootin

Boller is underappreciated. All he's done this year is came in and threw 3 TDs against a healthy and good Packers secondary. If the defense hadn't gone to sleep...

Alagon Drago
Dec 17th, 2006, 02:42:23 PM
Granted, two of those TDs were batted ten yards in the air before they were caught.

Titans lead the Jaguars 24-10 thanks to three defensive touchdowns and a FG following an 85-yard kickoff return. Now they've stopped them on a 4th and goal attempt from the 1. The Jaguars must be using the Cardinals' playbook from the game against the Bears.

Ryan Pode
Dec 17th, 2006, 03:40:22 PM
Boller comes in and goes 13 of 21 (61.9%) for 238 yards, 2 TDs and an INT for a 112.8 QB rating.

Jedi Master Carr
Dec 17th, 2006, 06:03:25 PM
The Titans should have started Young sooner, if they had they would probably be looking at playoffs right now. Although with the way the AFC is shapping up they could win out and get that 6th spot.

Imagine if Boller could have done that a few years ago and on a consistent basis, then maybe they wouldn't have signed McNair.

I have no clue what that rule is. How can there be change of possesion on a block punt. That should have been KC's ball that rule is bogus.

2003 = Rookie year.
2004 = Heap misses 10 games, no one else can catch.
2005 = Misses 7.5 games, goes 4-4 in return.

Enough Boller bashing, please.

I have no clue what that rule is. How can there be change of possesion on a block punt. That should have been KC's ball that rule is bogus.

Because the ball crossed the line of scrimmage, the KC player who touched it became the returner - it falls under the same rules as a muffed punt. But I would have thought that if SD didn't pick up 1st down yardage on the play, it would have still been a turnover on downs. It's not a fumble and a change of possession unless KC gets possession of the ball.

I'm interested to see whether the NFL will clarify that play.

Maybe the rule is the same as the one that led to Leon Lett's infamous field goal fiasco against Miami. The Dolphins lined up to kick the winning field goal against the Cowboys, and the ball was blocked and fell beyond the line of scrimmage. Leon Lett, a defender for the Cowboys, touched the ball for absolutely no reason and left it on the ground for the Dolphins to pounce on. They regained possession and attempted another field goal, which they converted successfully to win the game.

I don't know whether the new position of the ball was good for first down yardage, though.

Ryan Pode
Dec 17th, 2006, 08:51:38 PM
The official rule:

4. Any punt that is blocked and does not cross the line of scrimmage can be recovered and advanced by either team. However, if offensive team recovers it must make the yardage necessary for its first down to retain possession if punt was on fourth down.

Rev Solomon
Dec 17th, 2006, 08:54:58 PM
However, this punt did cross the line of scrimmage. So that rule doesn't apply.

The rule then should be clarified really. It is pretty bad that Michaels and Madden could barely understand it. That play I think changed that whole game, of course KC not able to score TD's in the Red zone didn't help. The Chiefs still have a lot of issues with their OL. That has been there downfall all season.

Of course Madden and Michaels can rarely understand anything.

On another note, you know who Denver could really use? Washed up Trevor Pryce who just happens to have 12 sacks this season.

Dec 18th, 2006, 01:17:58 PM
All that bizarre blocked punt really did was put KC out of its misery that much sooner. I never got the sense that were going to be able make a serious run at the Chargers. I was really impressed with Rivers. He probably had his worst game of the season, but when the Chargers needed a drive to finally put the game away, he threw that sweet deep ball to Jackson to seal the deal. Which brings me to what I still can't reconcile whenever I watch the Chargers now, WHAT THE HELL HAS HAPPENED TO MARTY SCHOTTENHEIMER?!?! He's throwing the ball deep in the 4th quarter instead of trying to protect the lead. Every game the Chargers try some kind of trick play with LT. I've NEVER seen Marty cut loose like this.

Tonight when I'm watching the Colts and Bengals I'll be seeing if either of them can give SD or Baltimore a run for their money in the playoffs. The Colts may as well start praying that the Chargers team bus goes off a cliff before they meet in the playoffs. What the hell is that defense going to do against LT and company? Their only chance may be that Tomlinson pulls a hammy during the first half while running up 200 yards before the end of the first quarter. Just about every team heading into the playoffs from the AFC could run over the Colts right now. The only chance they have is to make every single playoff game a shootout and that's a recipe for disaster.

Jedi Master Carr
Dec 18th, 2006, 06:33:43 PM
I still waiting for the Chargers to blow it in the playoffs. I have no faith in Marty Schottenheimer. Any man who has Joe Montana and Marcus Allen in the same backfield and a defense consisting of Neil Smith, Derrick Thomas and James Hasty and can't win the SB is a poor coach, IMO. His teams choke much like Peyton Manning has choked in the playoffs. This is from a Chiefs fan who has lived with old Marty. I think some team will beat them maybe the Ravens or maybe some team will get hot, we will see.

8-8 teams have no place in the playoffs. Just give the 6th seed to the AFC. Heck, put San Diego as the 6th team in the NFC, so we can have a Ravens/Chargers Superbowl, one worth watching.

Whatever helps you sleep at night dude.

The only way Denver beats San Diego is if LT, Merriman, Rivers and Gates forget where the stadium is.

The *only* glimmer of hope Denver has is if Marty goes Marty again.

That won't happen. I think NE or Baltimore have better chances. I thought maybe the Bengals but they didn't show me anything against the Colts. I would say the colts, but LT will kill that rushing defense. Only NE and Baltimore can slow him down.
