And Dizzy before you jump on me I am picking Seattle for two reasons,
The Main reason, Cutler is a rookie. I am going with the odds that a rookie QB will have a rocky few early games. Now he might very well work out long term, but 99% of rookie QB's have a rough start.
Second, I think Seattle is looking great now they are healthy. Right now they are my sleeper team in the NFC. Of course Seattle has had trouble on the road in the past and that could do them in. That is the only thing that makes me hesitate on taking them.

To me the hardest two games to predict are the Baltimore-Cincinnati matchup and the Seattle-Denver game. Both should be close games. I am still back and forth on the later one. I am not sure about Seattle's ability to win on the road.

Not even so much that the Ravens offense was bad, but the Bengals D was just everywhere. They wanted it more, gotta give 'em credit for that.

I am surprised since coming into last week's game, Cincinnati had one of the worst defenses in the NFL. Are they just playing better or what?
Ryan Pode
Nov 30th, 2006, 10:26:48 PM
They needed it more. Had the Ravens had just a bit more desire, I bet they could have won. Should they meet in the playoffs, wherever, my money is on the Ravens.
Jedi Master Carr
Nov 30th, 2006, 10:38:46 PM
If they play in Baltimore I would take the Ravens too. The Ravens are a much better team at home, of course most teams are that way.
Ryan Pode
Nov 30th, 2006, 10:41:42 PM
The Bengals this week had a huge advantage being at home on four days rest. Any normal week I'd take the Ravens. But I expect the Bengals to shutout (or come close to) against the Raiders; all the media in the world will declare them the best team in the world then they will be raped by the Colts.
Jedi Master Carr
Nov 30th, 2006, 10:51:39 PM
I am wary of them right now. They are the only team below KC that as a tie breaker over them. I was hoping they lose two games to put them out of it.

KC needs to finish really really strong to have a chance.

Not really, if they win 3 of the last 5 they are 10-6, they can sneak in at 10-6, I am assuming in this case that Denver is 10-6 and KC beats Jacksonville. I don't see the Jets winning 10 games, so that leaves Cincinnati. If they eliminate Jacksonville they would get in as the 6th seed. Still, I would rather see them win 4 out of the last five which is doable. They need to win their two home games and beat crummy Cleveland and Oakland on the road.

I could easily see them losing that game, if it was in Baltimore than I would pick the Ravens hands down but in KC the Chiefs should take the win.
JMK
Dec 1st, 2006, 08:36:57 AM
Agreed. Chiefs in KC are really tough, even for a hard-nosed defense like Baltimore.
Last night I thought the Ravens came out wearing Bengals uniforms. That defense was overwhelming, and the offense proved that they could move the ball and put up enough points to win a big game. The Ravens are still going to win the division but the Bengals took a nice step forward last night.

Ravens will be on ten days rest. Ten days to think of that performance. Infact, last time they lost and had more than a week's rest, they beat the living crap out of the Saints.

Still the game is in KC, that Saints game was in Baltimore. KC is a very good home team, IMO they have the best homefield advantage in football. I think most likely the game will be close.

I guess I was wrong about that, but still I am not really convinced the Saints are that good. I think they will get slaugherted in the playoffs by a better team. They have also lost to every AFC team they have played but Cleveland, and they only won that game by 5 points. Cincinnati just went in their house and beat the crap out of them two weeks ago. I am just saying I hope you don't think Baltimore is going to come into KC and beat them by more than a TD because I don't see that happening. I see a close game where either team can win and probably will win near the end of the game.

Grossmans numbers for the game 6 of 19, 34 yards and 3 interceptions? Ouch! Hello Brian Griese. Lovie has to make the switch, Grossman is imploding before his eyes.
All of a sudden I"m a bit more worried about the Pats last 4 games, the Jags and Texans are beatable but they have to play the very hot Titans and Dolphins, if they play like they did today they'll lose those games.

Not literally, just in my picks :D. But seriously, if I had gone back and changed any, the only one I was seriously thinking about changing was the Niners/Saints game. Very good game, and a big win by Seattle. I still think they are a team to watch out for in the playoffs. They are the only NFC team I think that can beat the AFC.
jjwr
Dec 3rd, 2006, 10:43:06 PM
Right now I'm not sold on any NFC team being able to beat the AFC but what may worry me the most would be the Saints. They have a potentially scary good offense and if they get hot they could do some damage.
Cutler almost became the best QB ever, taking over for the long time vet Romo ;)

I don't have much faith in the Saints. There defense isn't very good. I think they would have trouble against the Bears and Seahawks. I say Seattle because they have been to the SB and have the playmakers in Alexander and Hasselback. Although, there defense nearly blew this last game.

For me, the biggest surprises were Tennessee beating Indy, and Arizona beating St. Louis. I also wish I hadn't picked Oakland, since I hate them so much :grumble. I just thought with the coaching change, maybe they'd manage to pull one out. They would have pulled it out if it weren't for Janakowski's bad back :p.
The Seattle/Denver game was actually pretty good, even if I did sleep through part of it. The last minute was just the pits, though, for Denver to go from such an emotional high to losing with 1 second left :(.
