I thought I'd kick this off by saying:
We have a chance of snow starting tonight through tomorrow morning! :crack I'm so calling into work and telling them I can't get out of my driveway (if we have snow).

As do I. This October and November have been way too warm. I mean, we had a flood here last week! It should have been 2 feet of snow, not two feet of rain. :(

White, fluffy cold stuff that falls out of the sky during winter. :D

We had our first snow, Monday. It wasn't flurries, it was actually quite a snow fall, couple inches at least, but it didn't stay on the ground. Just not cold enough for that yet. The cars and roofs are all icy in the morning and pretty. Just wish it would quit shooting up to the sixties by noon, yeesh.. :rolleyes

I envy the group of you who aren't getting snow. Woke up this morning and it was snowing. 1 hour later, the snow was sticking and if we get much more snow, I'm pretty sure that schools will be closed tomorrow.
Now, why can't we have our normal weather and get our 2" of snow in Janurary instead of 5"-7" of snow now in November. It's cold, it's wet, and if it's not gone by tomorrow, I have to drive in it and I've never ever driven in snow before and I've been driving for almost 9 years now.

No snow here yet (touch wood)... although I seem to remember that we had some in August, rather oddly. We never get that much anyway. Just enough to make the paths all slushy and icy.

If it snows, I don't drive. :) Hence the calling out to work thing. Well, I have to drive FOR work, and I work clear across town, over bridges, etc... Its very unsafe.

Driving in the snow is a cinch - it's the other drivers you've got to worry about. I always keep chains in my trunk just in case :D

I'm suprised people don't convert their vehicles into bumper cars when they drive through snow. That would save so much in fender and paint damage.
We had heavy fog this morning, about one quarter of a mile visibility at best. I took it safe and drove home down the backroads this morning on my way home from work.

It's been frosting car windows in the morning here for a few weeks now, so now I park where the sun shines so that by the time I walk out of the plant all the frost is all melted.
Now the only thing I have to deal with in the morning while driving home is the fact that my route is into the sun for about 90% of the trip. There are turns where you literally can't see anything because of the sun's glare on the windshield; those are the worst, and sunglasses don't even work at times :\

Ok, does somebody want to switch places with me. We got more snow last night and I'm now dreading going outside to clear my steps. I don't have any shovels so I'll have to use a broom. Anybody want to switch their nice warm weather for my nice cold wet snow?? Anybody??

It normally snows by Thanksgiving in Jersey. The weather is all messed up. *Shakes fist* I blame it on the current US administration ;) They should stop testing their micro-wave-destructive-spasm-pork-tastes-like-chicken devices and using their han-solo-wishes-he-had-one-of-these machines.

I don't know what's up down here either. We have had some cold nights, but the leaves are still green, along with the grass. It's like we're still in summer down here. Maybe it's because the hurricanes didn't come to take away the heat this year.
Natia Telcontar
Nov 27th, 2006, 07:52:06 PM
Well, weather everywhere has been screwy this year. Toronto area is having our rain while we are having their snow. Honestly, I'd take the rain over the snow because you don't have to shovel it.

Nov 27th, 2006, 08:39:45 PM

I think we can top anyone for screwy weather.
A typical Aussie bushfire...... in snow. Snow in November....?!?! Here???? We didnt get a scrap of snow in the mountains all year and it picks when there is huge bushfire to snow this close to what should be summer? Now we're bouncing from fiercely hot (40C+!) to 14C, which is damn cold for this time of year.

You had know fluries, Aunty dearest? Piddles... We did have nothing but rain by the barrels. There was some icy slush on the sides of the roads up in the higher elevations, but other then that no snow, just rain and cold, bitter air. How long till summer?

Whoa, that's messed up man. Hope the fire situation isn't threatening too fiercely near you. Got an update?
Grose Valley fire is still burning, it's now been spreading slowly for the last three weeks, but the cold conditions and still air for the last week's been good, most of the fire has burnt itself out. They are worried tho by a quick re-ignition, which 32C, 20% humitity and 40 kph winds can do. So while there's no immediate danger, everyone is still on a bit of an edge and hoping for enough rain to worry Noah.
Dont like snow or rain everyone else? Fine, we'll have every drop you can send. Send to us in any form you desire. Preferably somewhere in the vicinity of 300 mm over a week would be great because while the place I live is really nice there's a million hectares of very dry eycalyptus trees, which is a bit like million hectares of 20 litre flammible fuel churns with this drought.
http://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/dsp_content.cfm?CAT_ID=683
Basically, a Grose Valley fire is the US's Gulf equivalent of a Cat 3 hurricane. You dont know exactly how bad it will be or where it'll go and you hope it doesnt get a run on.

That is some seriously weird weather. It's been really nice down here, but the recent spat of rain has shown that my new to me car desperately needs decent rubber.

We have a little less than an inch now, and are expecting more tomorrow I think. The part I really hate is that its supposed to be really cold tomorrow/tonight. I think this is our fourth or fifth snowfall this year in Northern Colorado.

Nice snow here in CO today. So far we've got maybe 3-4 inches of the powdery stuff. I've heard reports of anywhere from 3-4 inches up to 2 feet (more fine work from our meteorolgists :) ), so we'll see where we end up when this is all done. Of course, my vice president would choose today to have an important meeting today, so I had to drive in - I was hoping to work from home today, alas no such luck...

38 degrees, bright, and bitterly cold. I rode my bike to and from school today without gloves... my hands are bright red and have lost most of their feeling. Right now It's proofing difficult to type with said fingers, but that just adds to the challenge.

Couple weeks ago it was in the 30's and I was rock climbing. Of course, everything's granite around here. By the time I was done, I couldn't feel my fingers at all. I actually had to stop one climb because I could tell if I was gripping or not.
Fun, fun.

The sky was covered in a blanket of dark cotton all day. It threatened and loomed as best it could.
Still it persisted in being warm... and it didn't even rain.
The weather is broken. I blame global warming.

Global warming is caused by Al Gore's private jet burning up the ozone layer as he flies around warning us of our imminent self-destruction. He's like the Silver Surfer!!
Ok anyway, no freezing rain today, and warmer and drier for the rest of the week. Its still cold, but not literally freezing anymore. ^_^;

Talking about crazy weather, although our hurricane season was pretty much lame, the Philippines just got hit by their fourth Super Typhoon (storm with winds of 155 mph or greater) in the past four months. That'd be like Florida getting hit by four Category 5 Hurricanes.
Seems like a late season storm for the North Pacific. I'm begging to see Tropical Cyclone action flare up to the south of the Solomons, and Madagascar just saw it's first storm of the season.

Mega winter hit us hard today in Colorado. Worst blizzard I have seen since 1980. My back yard has snow drifts 8 feet high and possibly a few even deeper. And its still coming down pretty heavily.
I was scheduled to go to work tonight, but it looks like I am trapped in my house. Too much snow.

Average snow drift height is prbably about three feet.
I called work and was told I would be crazy to even attempt to leave home. There are cars burried in the snow at work even though there is only one person there.
I am so dreading having to clear out the cars, walkways, and driveway.

I too am a Coloradan. I don't have my pictures uploaded yet, but it's about the same as Eve's... I had 2 feet piled up against my front door (luckily it opens inward :) ) and the biggest drift I had was as tall as me, so about 6 feet. I just finished digging out my driveway - I'm gonna feel this one tomorrow...
