Bergen Arches Hike
My friend David and I went on a hike through abandoned train tunnels in Jersey City right on the boarder of Hoboken. It had rained that morning and the ground was muddy. The arches themselves are filled with what can only be described as urban decay. We saw a few homeless people and plenty of “artifacts” of homeless activity.
I brought headlamps, a first aid kit, and we both had a sturdy pair of boots. I wouldn’t suggest this hike close to nightfall or as a solo. It’s not particularly safe.
The overall distance was only a few miles including the hike from the 2nd street light rail station to the abandoned area. We had to pass through an active construction zone and then left via a hole in a fence—a nearby guard yelled at us and we kinda’ hightailed it.
