Timeline question.

i am coming up with ideas for my jedi character and i was curious about the timeline we are playing in. does it depend on the tread or is there an overall time period for the entire board? i know it sounds silly, but if anyone could point me in a general direction i would really be appreciative.

Well to break down the time line it is after the Battle of Endor and all the instrumental figures of the movies have died from Luke Skywalker to Darth Vader.
