Green Bay could be a playoff team. If they win these games:
@Buffalo
NY Jets
@San Francisco
Detroit

That would give them 8 wins. And let's assume they will win (nine wins) their 12/31 matchup with the Bears because the Bears will have nothing to play for and thus play backups. So, if they can manage an upset in at least one of the following:

@Minnesota
New England
@Seattle
Minnesota

I think they can beat Minnesota at home, thus making them 10-6.

Green Bay could do it. It will be awfully close. I think it depends on how real Minnesota is.

LOL I knew you say that. I just think Pittsburgh will bounce back at home. If they were playing any team right now I would have picked them.

KC game is a hard one to pick, I agree. Basically went with homefield advantage.

Baltimore allready scored two TDs. Bengals in deep water.

Vander-anti-clutch does it again. Unbelivable. You go from a game winning 35 yarder, to losing the game on a 47 yard, untimed FG. That face mask was the difference. The Cowboys dropped TD passes and INT's throughout the second half. Unreal.

I love it, down 14-0 with 6 minutes to go in the 1st quarter the Steelers go for it on 4th down on theri 45yd line, great pass and run and they get the ball down to the 5yd line...and fumble it back to the Bronco's.

Jedieb
Nov 5th, 2006, 04:53:28 PM
14-10 at halftime. The Broncos were shut down after those first 2 quick TD's. If the Steelers had been able to finish off drives they could have put 21 points on the board. I'm looking to see what adjustments the Broncos made on offense during halftime because they just couldn't get anything going after those first two possessions. For the second week in a row a team has thrown the ball at will against the Broncos. Not a good sign for a team competing with the Colts and Pats.

Ryan Pode
Nov 5th, 2006, 05:03:13 PM
And with a simple cutback the Broncos are up 21-10. :D

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 5th, 2006, 05:32:14 PM
Man what with all the upsets. KC really ran it on the Chiefs. Johnson had a heck of game. They have played great of late. I am not sure what to expect when they play Miami next week. Although, the Dolphins might have a let down after that win.

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 5th, 2006, 05:36:28 PM
Two more upsets brewing. Cleveland beating SD 12-10 and S.F beating the Vikings 9-3. This will be some day if they both go on to win. That would be 5 major upets.

Jedieb
Nov 5th, 2006, 06:08:59 PM
Walker has almost single handedly won this game for the Broncos. Unless we see a ridiculous comeback, the Steeler's season is over.

Jedieb
Nov 5th, 2006, 06:18:33 PM
Great attempt by Hines Ward, but the ball was knocked out just before the goal line. And that wraps up the Steelers season.

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 5th, 2006, 06:21:14 PM
I don't know how they beat KC by almost 40 points. I guess the Chiefs had their worst game of the year and Pittsburgh had their best. They are just turning the ball over way too much. You can't have 5 turnovers and expect to win.

Jedieb
Nov 5th, 2006, 07:21:04 PM
Big game of the week is about to start. Sanders will be playing for the Colts and that's huge for them. Not that he can single handedly turn them into a great defense, but they're much weaker in the secondary without him. Here comes the kickoff...

sirdizzy
Nov 5th, 2006, 07:35:48 PM
hahaha I was almost temped to take Miami this week because of the whole undefeated season thing and 1985 when they were 12-0 and they lost the only time of the season to Miami but even I'm not crazy enough to do that as the Bears should have won that game walking away

Denver forced 6 turnovers today, 4 of them inside their own 10. But Denver needs to adjust to the dink and dunk strategy that colts proved is effective on them.

And we can say officially their offense is back with back to back 31 point games.

JMK
Nov 5th, 2006, 07:39:18 PM
Sure, the offense is back with 62 points scored in the last 2 weeks, but at the expense of the defense which has given up 55 points over the same span.

sirdizzy
Nov 5th, 2006, 07:45:04 PM
54 points, only 54 points ;)

Hey, I've had a few bloody caesars today, give me a break.

Jedieb
Nov 5th, 2006, 08:09:59 PM
Early on it's a shootout in NE. Gotta wonder which defense is going to adjust first. I can't see Belichek not coming up with something during halftime to slow the Colts down. Last year the Colts defense was good enough to slow down NE and let the offense run away with the game. This year they've had too many key injuries and they're a shell of what they were last year, especially against the run. I think NE is going to be able to match the Colts score for score. The Colts are going to have to come up with a few more turnovers to win this shootout.

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 5th, 2006, 08:43:07 PM
That was a guts call. The question is did the Refree get it right. I don't even know.

Jedieb
Nov 5th, 2006, 08:43:27 PM
Brady did NOT get that first down. Holy crap the refs completely blew that call by not measuring and moving the chains. Here comes the inevitable Pats score.

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 5th, 2006, 08:47:20 PM
Well there was no score, so it that play didn't matter.

Jedieb
Nov 5th, 2006, 08:48:04 PM
Why didn't Freeney wrap him up? I swear, these rules make pass rushers into pansies.

YES, a second INT for the Golden Boy! :evil Told ya Sanders makes a difference back there. The Colts get the ball to start the second half. If the Colts can force the Pats into playing catch up that will play right into the strength of their defense and that Cover 2 scheme.

Jedieb
Nov 5th, 2006, 08:49:19 PM
Well there was no score, so it that play didn't matter.

It would have mattered to the Colts. They would have had the ball at midfield with around a miinute. That's as good as a FG the way they're playing.

JMK
Nov 5th, 2006, 09:07:37 PM
I was just as shocked as you to see Freeney not be able to take down Brady, especially since he could have sent him in to the nosebleeds if he decided to hit him. You're right Eb - these new rules have turned all plays on QBs in to flag football equivalents. Instead of putting his shoulders around Brady and driving his helmet in to his chest, he just sort of gently shoves him. Brady isn't a wet noodle - he's a big guy and needs to be brought down.

Well they treat all QBs that way. It really has to do with they don't want to damage the image of the league. To the league, the QB is the symbol makes the most money and are the stars. They don't want to get them hurt.

JMK
Nov 5th, 2006, 09:10:47 PM
Holy crow. God is a Pats fan. How does Vinatieri miss that? I swear if you look at his old highlights in slow mo you'd see little angel wings guiding his kicks through the uprights. Unreal how almost every break seems to go the Pats way. Though I was surprised 2 plays earlier that they somehow didn't recover that Wayne fumble.

JMK
Nov 5th, 2006, 09:11:51 PM
No sooner do I post that and the Pats lose a fumble and it gets returned for a TD...now for the challenge...

Jedieb
Nov 5th, 2006, 09:13:01 PM
What the hell is up with the refs tonight? 99 times out of a hundred they blow the whistle on that fumble. I think they'll call the TD back but let the fumble stand. The ball looked like it came out before Dillon was down.

JMK
Nov 5th, 2006, 09:15:35 PM

Yeah, that much is obvious, but what should have been a huge loss for the Pats, its turned in to a 1st down. I'm serious, why don't they just tuck flags in the QBs pants and have opposing defenses go for them? It would make things a heck of a lot simpler for everyone.

Looking at that replay, the ball is clearly out, but he's also down by contact. That score is coming back.

Jedieb
Nov 5th, 2006, 09:17:50 PM
I swear, the Colts are getting one chance after another to put points on the board. They come away from this turnover without a TD and they'll end up regretting it.

JMK
Nov 5th, 2006, 09:18:16 PM
3 turnovers for the Pats and they're still only down by 3. I bet they find a way to win this one regardless. I shouldn't complain because I took them for tonight's game but can't anyone put a stake through their heart?

Manning gets sacked and knocked out of FG range. Ugh.

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 5th, 2006, 09:19:16 PM
The big thing about that review was it was no TD. Then the Pats defense played great and put them out of FG range. This 3rd quarter has been way different than the last two.

JMK
Nov 5th, 2006, 09:19:24 PM
Nothing comes of the turnover except for a flip of field position, which the Pats will quickly erase no doubt.

Jedieb
Nov 5th, 2006, 09:19:51 PM
That's the damn game. The Colts open the 3rd quarter with two possessions in NE territory and get NOTHING. Watch NE start ramming the ball down the Colts throat.

Well I don't think they will be dead until Belliech isn't part of the franchise anymore. It is kind of like Bill Walsh with the Niners. Sure, they won after he left but that was his team. They fell off and their dynasty ended after that.

Jedieb

Big 3rd and 11 here for the Pats. If the Colts stop them then it looks like both coaching staffs made some decent halftiime adjustments. Yep, Brady scrambles and he's short of the first down, time to punt.

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 5th, 2006, 09:26:24 PM
I don't care for the Pats gameplan here. I agree with Madden they shouldn't try this fancy crap. The colts are weak against the run, so run up the gut.

What Owens deserves is to have someone yell at him everytime he has a drop. And that person should carry on the exact same way Owens does whenever a coach dares to say something to him. Even after the penalty he got for his sleeping celebration today he was yelling on the sidelines after someone apparently said something to him. Jagoff.

Yeah the Pats gameplan doesn't make much sense, very odd.

Regardless of the outcome even if the Pats lose this game I'm not too worried about them come playoffs time, all things considered the Pats are still in this game and they've given a ton away. The two INT's were horrible throws by Brady, no quesiton there.

As for Vinatieri, believe me I saw all of his kicks and him missing that didn't suprise me. He nailed the important ones but he missed his fair share of easy shots he should have had. Him starting 15/15 this year was much more unusual than him missing that last one.

Manning is impressive no doubt, course the Pats losing Harrison early was huge. That secondary never plays as well without him out there.

Jedieb
Nov 5th, 2006, 09:37:59 PM

I couldn't have said it better. I've watched them several times this year and while the offense looks like it might actually be better than last year, the defense has really fallen off. You can't make a SB run like this. You don't need a dominant defense, but you still need a good one. The year the Rams won their SB they did it with two solid defensive efforts in the NFC Championship game and the Superbowl. I don't think the Colts are capable of that right now. Although they did a good job of stopping the Pats and forcing this a FG attempt. The 49 yarders is good. Back to a one score game.

I'm not either, Pats are still in this after 3 Turnovers and that tells you something. If the Pats were playing a better game they'd be up by 10.

Suprised they kicked that right there, Belechick has shown a very big lack of faith in his rookie kicker this year, going for it on 4th down a lot when you'd think he would want the kick.

Yup, he's a rookie though and Gillette is a tough place to play.

Jedieb
Nov 5th, 2006, 09:57:28 PM
Despite that penalty, it's pretty damn impressive that Troy Brown can get out there and play effective defense. Colts are close to FG range now. With all those DB's you'd think Indy might try to pound the ball on 1st down. Yep, big run by Adai. That kid isn't as good as Marooney, but he's not a bad back.

Big INT by Scott. That was just a horrible pass by Manning.

Jedieb
Nov 5th, 2006, 09:59:03 PM
Why not call a draw on 2nd and 17? You know they've got a ton of DB's back there, but no, keep throwing. They just threw away another 3 points.

jjwr
Nov 5th, 2006, 10:00:13 PM
The Pats have to put it into the end zone on this drive, they can't keep expecting to hold the Colts back like this.

Jedieb
Nov 5th, 2006, 10:00:44 PM
Big INT by Scott. That was just a horrible pass by Manning.

It looked like the intended receiver, Clark I think, fell down and couldn't come back to the ball. But I just don't get why the Colts don't run the ball more when the Pats have all those DB's in there. It worked on that run by Adai but they just seem to give up on it.

Jedieb
Nov 5th, 2006, 10:02:50 PM
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I swear, BOTH offenses are stuck in neutral. What the hell is up with the Pats playcallling? Just like the Colts, they seem to play right into the strength of the defense in this second half. Again, the Colts get another chance to open up their lead.

jjwr

Pats deserved that, for such a smart team why are they ignoring the run? Boggles the mind.

I don't know either. They should run it down their throats.

jjwr

jjwr
Nov 5th, 2006, 10:05:34 PM
Yup, Pats have really thrown this game away. They could have rammed it down their throats and taken control. They aren't even doing any play action cause they aren't running enough to sell it. Very odd.

Jedieb
Nov 5th, 2006, 10:07:01 PM
Stupid hit by Colvin. After the first half I don't think any of us expected both defenses to step up. Even though both offenses are making suspect calls, the defenses are playing better. 3rd down here, don't turn the damn ball over Manning.

They finally get back to the run. The colts won't just give up first downs on runs, they'll give up big chunks of yards. But then the Pats throw on first down after that run. Even though it got them 7 yards, why not just keep gutting them?

Big hold by the Colts defense. Let's see what the Colts try and do when they get the ball back. Most teams would try to run the clock and inevitably let the other team back in the game with a 3 and out.

Back to back road wins in Denver and NE. Even with suspect run defense, that's still a pretty impressive finish to the first half of the season. The Colts aren't going to run the table, but they've got the AFC by the testicles with what amounts to a 3 game lead over NE and Denver.

jjwr

It doesn't matter though, the Colts have shown they can give it away in any situation in the playoffs. At home, on the road, they always choke it away. None of this means squat for them, ditto for the loss for the Pats.

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 5th, 2006, 10:39:50 PM
Faulk should have caught this ball. The colts though will lose, but to who is the question. I think they will lose 2 games before the season is over. But they are very capable of blowing it again in the playoffs. We are basically at the half way point. Every team has either played 8 or 9 games. I think both conferences are now wide opened. I know the media will play up the Colts, although they are morons. I don't think they are dominant as I said before.
In the AFC there are 5 teams with 6 wins
Indy
NE
Denver
Baltimore
SD
Throw in KC and Jax who have both 5-3 and are in the playoff hunt
Those first five teams have a chance. I think the Chiefs, I am biased though here, could surprise teams and make a run. Jacksonville I don't think have the players though.
In the NFC you have
Chicago
NY Giants
New Orleans
and then not much
Atlanta is too inconsitent. Seattle is banged up and Dallas and Philly don't look good enough. I think its wide open. You could have one of those 7 dominant teams (the top 5 in the AFC and the Giants and Bears in the NFC). Or somebody could get hot like Pittsburgh did last year.

Sure we're all saying how little this game meant, but don't kid yourself. If the Pats had found a way to win we'd all be sitting at our computers today saying how Manning is still Brady's lap dog. The Colts just about secured home field throughout the AFC playoffs, and winning in Denver and in NE is impressive. The Colts have to break through one of these years...but if they don't do anything about that atrocious run defense then they're screwed. The mere fact that they're 8-0 with that run defense is silly. Do they have Corey Simon back yet? If not, he's going to help once he does get back. I thought last year was the Colts' best chance, but it looks as though this year could be just as good. I think the only team that has a chance to beat the Colts in the playoffs is the Pats....or the Colts themselves. No one else would be able to beat them, or even keep it close, especially if the game was in Indianapolis.

Jedi Master Carr

I throw the Chiefs and Ravens in that mix. A team with a very good running back like LJ and Jamal Lewis will light them up. The only problem with the Chiefs is can their defense slow down the Colts. The Ravens and the Chargers I think can.

Oh if its not too late to pick tonight's game I pick Seattle. ^_^;

No problem LD. No one in their right mind would pick Oakland tonight.

So much Colts bashing, so much hatred for a QB who makes the funniest commercials in the league. Now, recent history says the Colts will fold in the playoffs. But recent history also says the Pats aren't the Pats anymore. They've lost TWICE in a row now to both Denver AND the Colts. Plus, both losses to the Colts came at Gillete. They're not the big bad Pats anymore. If the Pats had won consecutive road games at 5-1 Denver and then a 5-1 Colts team we would all be carving their name into the Lombardi Trophy already.

Yeah, I want Manning to get his ring. No QB this good deserves to suffer the same fate that Marino does. Guys like Plummer deserve to never get a ring. He's on his second big contract and he's a couple of bad starts from losing his job to a friggin' rookie. That's sad. Brady? Welcome to the second half of Troy Aikman's career. Not only did Aikman not win another superbowl after Superbowl XXX, but he never won another playoff game. Brady won't face that kind of drought, but he'll never see another ring. And wanting more is just plain greedy.

The Colts will have home field advantage for the playoffs. Look at this schedule:

Buffalo
at Dallas
Philadelphia
at Tennessee
at Jacksonville
Cincinnati
at Houston
Miami

Anybody see 3 losses there? Because that's what it's going to take for them to blow homefield. That, and Denver or NE going 8-0 the rest of the way out. Their schedules?

Denver
at Oakland
San Diego
at Kansas City
Seattle
at San Diego
at Arizona
Cincinnati
San Francisco

Two games against the Chargers and a game AT KC. Say buh-bye to finishing 8-0 and HF.

Patriots
NY Jets
at Green Bay
Chicago
Detroit
at Miami
Houston
at Jacksonville
at Tennessee

The Pats have a realistic shot at winning out. A now suspect Bears team at home and a game at Jacksonville look to be their toughest tests. But still, Indy's got to drop 3 for them to get them in Gillette in January. Where the Colts have now beaten them twice in a row.

Manning is Elway before he finally won his Superbowls. Elway didn't deserve the crap he got before Shanahan and Davis fell in his lap and Marino sure as hell doesn't deserve the can't win the big one label either. The Colts aren't as good as last year but the Steelers showed if you get hot at the right time and catch a few breaks you don't need to be perfect to win it all.

Holy crap, this game is going to be a joke tonight. The Raiders are a pathetic excuse for a team.

Not sure if anybody is watching but the end of this game is turning into a circus. Some Raider defender just kicked a Seahawk in the groin and got kicked out. Then there was almost a brawl. Home field is starting to mean less and less, just look at what the Steelers did last year.

As for the Pats, don't write them off yet. The key to Sunday Nights game not many people are mentioning is the Pats lost Rodney Harrison on the 3rd play, when you lose the guy that holds your secondary together against a passing team like the Colts your going to have trouble. That and 5 turnovers and they still only lost by 7? Not bad at all, like I said the Colts don't scare me, in Indy or anywhere else. And the Pats will only get better, the passing game still isn't quite there, they had a good game at Minnesota but Brady is still working with all new receivers. They now have 8 games to get it ready for the post season.

I didn't even bother watching one second of last night's game. ZERO star power, and I knew that it would be complete snore fest. I did catch the highlight of that dirty, rotten, fool of a Raider knee that guy in the family jewels. Between him and that meathead in Tennessee who stomped that dude's melon the league is not doing a good job of controlling this sort of behavior. What gets me is that if something like this happened in hockey, the NHL would be front page news again. I'm exaggerating to make a point because stomping on a guy's head with a skate is front page news, but you all know what I mean. What has been going on in the NFL this season is as bad as anything, and head-stomping, knob-kneeing jerks should be suspended for the rest of the year.
