This could be ugly again. I really have a hard time making a good case for road teams except for New England and Pittsburgh. The Indy/Denver game is a toss-up, but I'm giving it to Denver because they're very tough at home and Indy is going to lose sooner or later.

sorry JMC taking indy will make you no ground up, it will only keep you on even ground as I expect to see almost everyone take indy

but see with me you will be losing ground and I am in first because I will be taking the winner of that game, Denver

you shouldn't be trying to make up ground on the losers but the winners, why fight against the 4th place teams go for the #1 teams like me

wanna now the game that is driving me crazy its the KC game. I was locked in on taking the cheifs but now it looks like Huard will be out too. That means a 3rd string rookie QB will most likely be the chiefs starter thats freaking scary.

Huard might play it is going to be a game time decision from the sound of it. I would go with the home team. I think the fact Seattle doesn't have Alexander and there defense has looked awful this season, ways in the Chiefs favor.

You know Dizzy, if the Broncos somehow lose this game, and is still remains a distinct possibility, you'll be eating a lot of crow. Right now I'd say the Broncos are 55-45 favorites to win the game. That's not a lot. But of you're right, and they do win, you'll have pretty much the best team in the league.

Looks like I'm dropping four of the early games today. I should have remembered Hasselbeck was out for the Seahawks; even so, that was a pretty close game, up until that last interception by Seneca Wallace.

Ah well. If the Ravens had to win, it's good for the Steelers that the Bengals lost.

EDIT: Oh, wait, the Hawks are still alive and driving for the tie with 1:14 left! Hooray for bonus coverage!

EDIT 2: Failed on 4th and 15. So, yeah, dropped four. :p

5-3 behind big wins by KC and Baltimore.

Tannis V'larr
Oct 29th, 2006, 05:10:15 PM
The Steelers are sinking to a new low. It's not just that they're down a touchdown to the Raiders, or even that Ben has already added two picks to his season total -- it's that the defense is losing its discipline and has just spotted the Raiders thirty yards on consecutive unsportsmanlike penalties by Larry Foote and Joey Porter. Cowher has said he was going to address the unnecessary penalties. We have yet to see it.

Jedi Master Carr
Oct 29th, 2006, 05:13:35 PM
I told you Huard would play :p Although the game was closer than it should have been. KC should have won by 3 TDs.

Now only if people had picked the Ravens...

Jedi Master Carr
Oct 29th, 2006, 05:23:05 PM
I missed that one. I was thinking New Orleans would win because they were at home, where they have played great to that point.

Ryan Pode
Oct 29th, 2006, 05:27:49 PM
Ravens have been playing below themselves. They needed to remind everyone how sick their defense is and how efficient the offense is.

Jedi Master Carr
Oct 29th, 2006, 05:28:24 PM
Great game in Denver. If Pittsburgh can't beat Oakland, there season is done. The Raiders are horrible, I am not sure how they could lose to them.

Ryan Pode
Oct 29th, 2006, 05:30:05 PM
By being very overrated. I get the Steelers and Oakland game, I wish I got Indy and Denver, but this one could be nice if the Steelers lose.

Jedi Master Carr
Oct 29th, 2006, 05:32:05 PM
Got the Denver game here, thank god. That Pit-Oak looks ugly. When the leading passer has 54 through 3 and half quarters that is bad.

Ryan Pode
Oct 29th, 2006, 05:32:51 PM
"Can you believe it?! The third interception thrown by Roethlisberger!"

Yeah. I can when it's his 10th in 6 games.

Jedi Master Carr
Oct 29th, 2006, 05:35:38 PM
He is too banged up. They shouldn't have played him in this game. Of course as bad as Oakland is they could still win.

Ryan Pode
Oct 29th, 2006, 05:37:05 PM
Maybe. Roethlisberger was never that great. But the Steelers running game is completely non-existant thus he has to throw and Roethlisberger won't do well if he has to throw more than 30 times a game.

Jedi Master Carr
Oct 29th, 2006, 05:39:43 PM
Man the Colts can't tackle. I can't see them getting to the SB with that rushing defense.

Ryan Pode
Oct 29th, 2006, 05:43:43 PM
Neither can I. But I can see them beating the Broncos as Manning & Co. seemed to be able to do whatever they want on the Broncos.

Ryan Pode
Oct 29th, 2006, 05:45:15 PM
#4 goes for a TD. :D

Jedi Master Carr
Oct 29th, 2006, 05:46:03 PM
That is horrible. You see I hate Oakland so I don't like this at all. I want them to finish 1-15.

Ryan Pode
Oct 29th, 2006, 05:47:05 PM
Well, I hate the Steelers, probably more than you hate the Raiders. So a Steeler loss is much better than a Raider one.

Oct 29th, 2006, 05:50:03 PM
Well, I hate the Steelers, probably more than you hate the Raiders. So a Steeler loss is much better than a Raider one.

I am not sure about that. Chiefs fan hate the Raiders with a passion. Well I guess there is one bright of shinning lining, they keep themselves from getting Brady Quinn.

Ryan Pode
Oct 29th, 2006, 05:53:26 PM
Looks like they're trying to. 1-10-DEN 20 (3:35) M.Bell right guard pushed ob at IND 32 for 48 yards (A.Bethea).

Oct 29th, 2006, 05:59:03 PM
And the Raiders just remembered they are the Raiders. Steelers have it on the Oakland 43ish.

Jedi Master Carr
Oct 29th, 2006, 06:00:54 PM
I wouldn't be shocked if the Raiders blow it. The Colts are at midfield with 1 minute left.

Jedieb
Oct 29th, 2006, 06:03:56 PM
The Colts have just gotten another first down and they're at midfield. Two more first downs or one big play and they're in FG range. Two obvious observations;

1. Denver's defense is good, but they obviously never faced an offense like the Colts this year. 31 points at home and possibly more is much more than I expected them to give up.

2. My sister, mother, and mother-in-law could do a better job of run defense than the Colts. Holy crap do they miss C. Simon. They can't win a SB unless they fix this.

Well, they've driven down to FG range and with Vandershank nowhere in sight, this game is as good as over.

3rd and goal for the Steelers with 2 minutes to go......... False start. The Steelers have no business being in this game. Big Ben looks like he's still got some cobwebs. Man, he's having a Kyle Boller type of game. :evil

Ryan Pode
Oct 29th, 2006, 06:06:59 PM
While Manning didn't blow out the Broncos. He did complete 32 of 39 (82%!) for 345 yards and 3 TDs for a passer rating of 129.4. With no sacks.

In Oakland, it looks over. Knock on wood. Boller has never thrown 4 Picks.

Jedieb
Oct 29th, 2006, 06:07:36 PM
Holy cow, it's 4th and goal from the 4 after the Steelers had first and goal from the one. Again, they shouldn't even be in this game. Man the Raiders blow chunks.

Jedieb
Oct 29th, 2006, 06:10:46 PM
Incomplete, game over unless Oakland finds a way to blow it. Batch should have started this game. Only a concussed QB or a healthy Boller could be this inept against the Raiders defense.

Manning had his way with the Broncos in the second half. Those are ridiculous numbers against a defense that had only given up 2 TD's this season. Holy crap, his fantasy numbers are going to be sick today.

Ryan Pode
Oct 29th, 2006, 06:12:03 PM
So much hate. Boller's QB rating this season is 97. 3 TDs, 1 Pick. Quit drinkin' yo' Haterade.

Jedieb
Oct 29th, 2006, 06:16:03 PM
Only Ravenscolored Glasses could see those numbers as something to be proud. I rag on Boller because he's a joke of a QB and everyone outside of Baltimore knows it. Actually, they know it in Baltimore as well because he's riding pine, isn't he? Here come the Steelers again. They might still be able to force OT here. 21 seconds and they at the Raiders 45. Wow, Sapp has his first big play in Oakland after 3 seasons in football purgatory. Here comes the Hail Mary. Holy crap, he caught it at the 5. The Raiders did everything they could to blow this game.

sirdizzy

damn that game made me sick, we didn't stop them once in the 2nd half, one defensive hold and we would have won the game

I mean our offense finally got out of its funk with 31 points but are defense let the colts score 3tds and 3 field goals, thats as much as we have given up in 4 games

Anybody want to attach names to those career numbers? :lol

It wasn't just Pittsburgh that laid an egg today. What the hell was up with the Eagles? The Jags obviously flipped a coin and had it land on "Play" today, but that's no excuse for the game they played today. They got dominated at home. At least last week they could say they got beat by a freak FG, but today they got handled.

If ESPN updated them they are. But we know the Boller numbers are static because nothing changes from the bench.

If Boller was in Pittsburgh he'd have had the same numbers the past couple of years. Boller didn't have anyone to throw to until last year, when he got hurt/offensive line got hurt.

Even against a horrible Colts run D, that was the best offensive game Denver's had all season. Plummer was more than solid and he was downright great when they rolled him out. The Broncos can build on this, but they should have won this game, especially at home. They probably gave away HF to the Colts today.

Have to worry about the Patriots too. Although they are now tied in their division and the Chiefs are only one game back. I think that division will come down to the wire. Denver still has to play SD twice and the Chiefs in Arrowhead.

Jedieb
Oct 29th, 2006, 06:59:44 PM
Plummer had a great first half. The only reason his second numbers were down was because Denver kept running the ball, even in passing situations, and getting first downs. What got the Colts back in that game was the defense they played early in the 3rd quarter. They got a 3 and out to start the second half, then stopped Denver again. The offense scored 2 TD's around those two series and then the game became a track meet. Unlike some of the other great games this season, this one was mostly great offense. (Aside from Indy's pee wee football run D) It wasn't a mistake filled turnover fest like last week's Atlanta/Steelers game.

The Giants have their division by the testicles right now. Dallas has to win tonight to keep pace.

Jedieb

That's another reason why today's loss was a big kick in the nutts for Denver. The SD games should be pretty interesting. Both defenses are going to slug it out. You figure each team will probably win at home. KC is going to be fun to watch down the stretch. Unlike the Dolphins they at least have a pulse.

That is horrible. You see I hate Oakland so I don't like this at all. I want them to finish 1-15.

I hate the Raiders with a passion as well, so seeing that game was almost painful for me. Hell has truly frozen over :x. At least the Chargers decked the Lambs.

Roethlisberger had no business coming back a week after suffering a concussion. Hell, he had no business coming back as quickly as he did after the motorcycle accident and the appy. He should have taken more time to heal. I'm no huge Steelers fan by any stretch of the imagination, but the chances that they might have a better record at the point if Roethlisberger had taken his time coming back are realistic.

McNair came back after a concussion and had his best game of the season yet, against a 5-1 team on the road.

That's another reason why today's loss was a big kick in the nutts for Denver. The SD games should be pretty interesting. Both defenses are going to slug it out. You figure each team will probably win at home. KC is going to be fun to watch down the stretch. Unlike the Dolphins they at least have a pulse.

Plus they should be getting Green back maybe for the Miami game. That could be a huge difference for them. I think they can win 10-11 games right now. There last 8 games are pretty easy. They get
at Miami
Oakland
Denver
at Cleveland
Baltimore
at San Diego
Oakland
Jacksonville
I was hoping to be 5-4 after the Miami game and they are in good shape for that, IMO. I think they can 5-2 with that schedule and maybe make the playoffs.

Ride Huard as long as possible. He's been fairly good. Keep him in.

I think they will keep in there until Green is 100%. Some Chiefs fans think this is Elvis vs Gannon again. Although I don't think Huard is as good as Gannon and Green is a lot better than Elvis ever was.

With their losses on the offensive line and a new coach I think everyone chalked this year up as a rebuilding one for the Chiefs. But with that schedule they can make a run for a playoff spot.

The Me-Receiver showdown tonight between Me-Shauwn and Owens. Uggh, please let Smith make them both look like also rans.

I think it is going to be a long night for Romo. The Panthers defense is great at rushing the passer.

What a week. So many weird things continue happening. So many upsets...what the hell?

The one thing that remains constant is that there is no defense able to contain Peyton Manning. The way he picked apart the vaunted Broncos D using basically only Reggie Wayne was as impressive for the Colts as it was embarassing for the Broncos.
Was there any doubt that even when Elam tied the game at 31 that Manning would get them close enough for Mr. Clutch to kick a game winner? It's all you can do with the Colts. Just hope that they beat themselves. Unless it's the playoffs, then it's a different story, because they inevitably do beat themselves.

And how about the Bears? 41-0 in the first half? Either the Niners are complete sad sacks or the Bears are going to romp to the Superbowl. They look awesome.

The niners are terrible. I think the Cardinals are worse but the Niners aren't that good either. That is why Seattle will win that division but probably only will win 10 games. The Rams suck, there defense is worse than Seattle. As for the Carolina-Dallas game. Carolina played terrible. All those dropped passes that is what cost them the game. You can't make that many mistakes against any team.

I had a decent week for a change and I can get to 9 wins if the Vikings can pull off the upset tonight. Don't look now, but it the Patriots win tonight they'll be hosting the Colts next week for the best record in the conference. Third time in 4 years the Colts have to go to NE during the regular season.

The NFL just loves to reproduce the Manning vs Brady thing, especially in NE where Manning has so much trouble.

Heck of a first half by Brady. If they win this game that makes the Manning-Brady showdown even more fun to watch.

The Pats are dominating the Vikings. And Brady is having an unbelievable game over 350 yards and 4 TDs. That game next week is going to be a heck of a game.

I have one comment not about the game itself, but about the pregame stuff. It's always kind of fun to see which celebrity will pick up the helmet and announce, "I'm ready for some football." Hey, even Samuel L. Jackson did it, last week, wasn't it?

But c'mon, people...Paris Hilton?!?!?!?. Make it stop, make it stop! :cry

What a good old fashioned beat down the Pats laid on the Vikings. Brady probably had the easiest, most hassle-free game of his career. I'm always so impressed by the competence and execution of the Pats. They always do the fundamental things properly. Run blocking. Pass protection. Catching balls that are on the money. No turnovers.

Right now the AFC looks like this to me:

1- Indy
2- New England
3- Denver
4- Ravens
5- Who cares about the rest

I'll be shocked if one of those 4 teams (throw the Bears in there too) don't win the Superbowl. Though it's still early...any team can get hot towards the end, and cruise. But I just can't see any team besting the listed teams here.

Great win by the Pats, Brady was really on last night. Next Sunday should be a great game! Up till last night the Pats passing attack had been pretty mediocre but they gave teams something else to think about, they do have some weapons and now Brady is getting comfortable with them.

Bears are a legit Super Bowl contender, their upcoming games against the Giants & Pats will show how legit they truly are.

There are times when the Pats coaching staff makes their opponents look like they're being coached by drunken Pee Wee football coaches. You can't run against the Vikings? So what, just throw the ball on almost every play during the first half. How many teams would have just kept pounding the ball into the line for 2 yards and a cloud of dust? No coaching staff gets more out of their personnel than the Patriots. Lord how I hate this team. :shootin

Everyone is still in this, all it will take is one good week for some of the lower ranked teams to be right there.

As for the Pats, to me this game showed they still have the best coaching staff in the league, like Jedieb said most coaches would just keep trying to pound the ball and get nowhere doing it, especially with some great runners like Maroney & Dillon but Belechick will do what it takes to win regardless how odd the strategy seems.
