The Police=Sting, especially the last couple of albums. Truth is, it just hurts that they never got back together so much that I don't even like typing their name. :cry

Ok to have all that metal music and then... Broadway... tacked in on the end just looks wrong. ;)

Broadway and good metal share a lot of the same characteristics ;p They both rely on powerful melodies, strong voices, and try to invoke imagery. A lot of the classical metal singers have been on broadway and some of my favorite bands have vocalists that were once in opera.

You need a powerful voice to sing in metal. Therefore, they go hand in hand :)

I also love classical. I'm just not well versed in the composers.

Prog is stuff like Rush and Porcupine Tree, with the most extreme example I can think of as King Crimson. Frequently it has very complex musical structures and requires a great deal of skill to play. Some Pink Floyd could be considered Prog Rock.

It ain't a party until someone puts the Robert Randolph on! :D

They were here a couple weeks back...strange live act. They all kind of improvise, jam and switch instruments with one another throughout the show.
