This story has been headline news the last two days so I decided to throw it out here. Here is a recent article on it.

It is disgusting and charges should be pressed against him. I find the irony in that he was chairman of a committee for exploited and missing children.

From the sound of it, he may be prosecuted under the same laws he helped pass.

He also responded to speculation that he might be gay as "revolting and unforgivable".

Well he also might be hurting his own part. At the very least that seat he once held could go to the Democrats. And there is this building of a coverup by the higher ups in the House. Have to see where this will go.

But of course. When someone like him is caught doing something wrong, it's never his own fault now, is it? It's always blame shifting instead of being a real man and taking the blame for your own wrongdoings.

Oh yes, all the excuses have been hilarious (in a very sad way) to watch. It's all because he's an alcoholic, and because he was abused by a priest as a teenager, which made him gay, and of course, because he's gay, that's why he became a pervert.

The right-wing radio talkers have been disgusting too. People like Michael Savage, blaming the page and calling him a "scumbag" who only wanted to get ahead in Washington, so he set Foley up. And then there are the GOP politicians who are blaming everyone else for this coming to light, including the media, the voters of Florida, the Democrats, and last but not least, Bill Clinton.

:grumble

One of my biggest pet peeves is how people so desperately attempt to shirk personal responsibilty--it's always somebody else's fault, not mine!--and this is the latest, greatest example of that lately.

I know they shouldn't be blaming any one but Foley. I expect they are too scared they are going to lose the House and Senate over this, but if they keep blaming everyone else they will lose both over it.

And if you needed any further proof that Fox News is in the pockets on the Republican party, all you have to do is find the screencaps of the multiple times they showed pictures or footage of Foley and put a (D) after his name.

I'd never expect anything clean and honest from Fox News full stop.

I'll do you one better. I don't expect anything clean and honest from any politician or party-affilliate, any side, anywhere.

I'm fairly cynical when it comes to politics these days.

Me either actually. I am the same way lately.

It's been that way for over 20 years and just getting worse - there's simply no one honest in politics anymore. And what's worse is that it's so rife and now just so obvious, the voters hardly care because they believe if they tossed one person out, another takes their place who's worse

Which is true.... but......

Voters shouldnt be afraid of voting one out and just getting another. What they should do is get angry and bounce the crook out so hard that everyone gets the message and things CAN change, as politicians realise voters just wont tolerate this garbage anymore.

But I think the voter apapthy is well placed. Bounce one out, we really do seem to end up with someone just the same or worse.

I agree with you people should vote the bums out. Vote for third party candidates if they have to. But as it people just don't vote, at least in this country.

Well apart from both parties doign their best to gerymander and disenfrancise voters....

Not that anyone's going to care for now, North Korea just detonated a nuke. Foley's going to be off the front page finally.

Well at least for Monday. Although I don't think North Korea really matters to most voters, especially since there is no way we can do anything militarliy against them.

It'll be a minor miracle if the Republicans are able to hold onto the House this Nov. It really is ridiculous. Every day Hasert changes his story about what he knew and when he knew it. Republicans are running around with a list of talking points trying to drag Democrats into this in any way they can. I can only hope that their pathetic attempt to blame everyone but Foley and the people who covered for him will blow up in their faces, but you never know. They might still be able to hold on to enough seats in both houses.

The Democrats have to gain 15 house seats and 6 senate seats. I really think they will gain seats will they gain enough is the question. I think the House will be easier than the senate. I think that 6th senate seat will be tough they should take at least 4 and maybe 5 but Six will be hard.
