From their 40 to our 20 in ONE PLAY!? Someone's asleep at the wheel.
And a touchdown in less than 3 minutes. :shakefist my only consolation is that Philly will fold in the 4th quarter and we'll come from behind to win. ;)

Poor Browns... Up 14-12 with 2:30 left, they have the ball on the Ravens' 18, and throw a pick. Then they force a 52-yard field goal try, and Matt Stover makes it. I was really hoping they'd pull it out.
Everybody picked Baltimore, so it wouldn't have changed the standings. :p
Ryan Pode
Sep 24th, 2006, 06:01:29 PM
As the resident Ravens fan, I was fully expecting a fake on that 52 yarder. Everyone in Baltimore knew that Stover had just about no chance in hell to make a 52 yarder, least of all one that solid. Shows how much we know.

I love how nearly everyone picked NE to win. Everyone must have short term memory loss forgetting that the broncos own the patriots winning 5 of the last 6 in the last 5 years. And man does are defense look freakingly awesome, we aren't going to lose many games if we keep playing defense like that.
jjwr
Sep 25th, 2006, 04:51:51 AM
Had the game been in Denver everyone would have picked the Bronco's, just the way it goes.
Their D did look great last night, the offense wasn't quite there yet but they should improve as the year goes on.
No that this caused the Pats to lose but I have to say I'm getting a little sick of the phantom pass interference calls. They really need to re-work this system.
JMK
Sep 25th, 2006, 06:54:39 AM
Exactly, I was giving the Pats home field advantage. Simple as that. Like you said, if the game was in Denver I would have certainly picked the Broncos.
All in all it was a pretty lame Sunday for football. Nothing really spectacular happened...unless you consider Favre going over 400 career TDs as spectacular. As an achievement it is, but it went by with little notice.

The Seattle game wasn't great at all. It was terrible IMO. The Giants didnt show up until the 4th quarter, and by then they we WAY too far behind to get back in to it. They came close to making it interesting, but it was not an entertaining game to watch.
And isn't this the second time since the beginning of the season that that idiot Shockey has critisized Tom Coughlin through the media?

Autzen was named in 2006 Sporting News as "The most intimidating college football stadium in the country".
"Autzen's 59,000 strong make the Big House [Michigan] sound like a pathetic whimper. It's louder that 'The Swamp' at Florida, 'The Shoe' in Columbus and 'Death Valley' at Louisiana State. Autzen Stadium is where great teams go to die."

Its has a lot to do with the stadium and how it is built I think. Also there is big news involving the Seahawks now, Alexander will miss probably the Bears game. He has a slight bone fracture. Holgram said that he will be fine after their bye. That could be a big blow for that game. They are lucky there defense is playing great and there passing game looked really good against the Giants.

Congratulations to everyone who picked New Orleans. That was a phenomenal defensive performance; they blanketed the Falcons receivers and put loads of pressure on Michael Vick. The Saints may be legitimate contenders in their division, especially with the Panthers and Buccaneers struggling.
And just like that, the Saints now have as many wins as they got all last season.

Great emotional performance from the Saints last night. I thought there was the potential for them to get carried away and the Falcons would run the ball down their throat, but you have to credit the coaching staff for really preparing the team and keeping their heads last night. It could have been really easy to get lost in the moment, and subsequently lose the game.

Holgrame thinks he can and he is the head coach. Besides it is a slight fracture and the doctors think it will only take a couple of weeks to heal. I think he will be back. The funny thing is the Seahawks might no need them, in there crappy division they will probably win 12 games at least. They have 6 guaranted wins. The Cardinals are horrible, the 49ers are mediocre and the Rams aren't much better. None of those teams will win 8 games. They could actually wait for him to get healthy considering that.

No the career ender for Rbs is the torn ACL, anytime a player expecially a RB tears their ACL its almost always career over. The number of players who have come back from ACL injuries is very small.

Look, I hate T.O. as much as the next guy, but I don't think he needs to rub himself out because of it:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2604395
DALLAS -- Flamboyant Dallas Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens attempted suicide by overdosing on pain medication, even putting two more pills into his mouth after fire rescue personnel arrived, The Associated Press reported Wednesday citing a police report.
A Dallas police report released Wednesday morning said Owens told rescue workers "that he was depressed." The report was first released by WFAA-TV.
The rescue worker "noticed that [his] prescription pain medication was empty and observed [Owens] putting two pills in his mouth,'' the police report said.
The worker attempted to pry them out with her fingers, then was told by Owens that before this incident he'd taken only five of the 40 pain pills in the bottle he'd emptied. The worker then asked Owens "if he was attempting to harm himself, at which time [he] stated, 'Yes.'"
Owens was taken to the emergency room Tuesday night. A source close to Owens told ESPN's Ed Werder early Wednesday morning that Owens was suffering an adverse reaction to painkillers taken for treatment of his fractured hand.
"This is not serious," Owens' publicist Kim Etheridge said in Wednesday's online edition of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
A report earlier Tuesday stated that Owens would practice with the team Wednesday and possibly play Sunday at Tennessee, but his availability this week and beyond is now uncertain.
Doctors treating the Dallas Cowboys receiver were trying to induce vomiting when he arrived at Baylor Medical Center, according to a television report.
Owens was brought by a fire rescue crew to the hospital, Dallas-Fort Worth television station KTVT reported, citing sources the television station did not identify. A reporter for the station later said she saw Owens being wheeled down the hall.
Calls from The Associated Press to Owens' agent, his publicist and the Cowboys were not immediately returned Tuesday night. The hospital told the AP that they do not have a patient registered by Owens' name; however, federal privacy laws allow people to block their name from being released.
No teammates or Cowboys officials were seen entering the hospital late Tuesday night.
Owens fractured the fourth metacarpal bone in the Cowboys' victory over the Washington Redskins and underwent surgery on Sept. 18. The next day, a plate was screwed in, protecting the bone so it can heal without further damage.
Cowboys coach Bill Parcells mentioned in a press conference shortly thereafter that pain medication had made Owens ill, apparently making this the second time he has had an adverse reaction. The incident that sent him to the hospital Tuesday night apparently occurred sometime after Owens took medication after catching passes at the Cowboys' facility on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, the Cowboys also practiced without tight end Jason Witten, whose wife was having a baby. Wide receiver Terry Glenn practiced, albeit with several stitches in his thumb.
"He was trying to cut some tape off his uniform," Parcells said. "He had his hand down in his pants and he missed. Fortunately he cut his hand."
With the Cowboys having had a bye last weekend, Owens could return without having missed a game. Before Tuesday's late developments, Owens said he would play Oct. 8, when he gets to face his former team, the Eagles, in Philadelphia.
It's still early in this whole thing, and will probably be denied at some point by Owens or his agent, but that is shocking!

Sep 27th, 2006, 08:46:06 AM
I have no idea...but this certainly will intensify the spotlight in the big D. I'm not sure Parcells was ready for this so you're right, he may not last the year.
You know, it's going to sound very harsh, but given T.O.'s track record of PR stunts, I wouldn't be surprised if he was trying to garner sympathy so that the Philly fans wouldn't boo him.
What happened with this guy? Is all the flamboyance and antics a cover-up for his deep-rooted depression?
Yog
Sep 27th, 2006, 09:03:42 AM
Actually, there are some conflicting reports on this. The first reports said he had an alergic reaction to the painkiller drugs, that it was not serious etc. Then came the reports of suicide attempt. Whats really going on? Either way, there is going to be an official Dallas Cowboys press conference at 2.30 pm ET.
This is what TO's publicist said:
He didn't have his stomach pumped and didn't vomit, according to Etheridge, who doesn't believe Owens took 35 pills, as alluded to in the police report. Owens does have a history of adverse reaction to pain medication, including an example Bill Parcells mentioned after Owens' surgery last week.
If indeed he did down 35 pills in a day, that either indicates a suicide attempt or some insane publicity stunt. Either way, the man needs some therapy. It would also mean he is likely going to be out for an extended amount of time, possibly the season. Even if Dallas Cowboys let him play, NFL probably would not.
On the other hand, if it really was an alergical reaction, and that suicide story is wrong, some journalists gonna need some slapping.

Carr: Yes, in fact, word right now is, the Dallas police allready had a press conference, and that they neither denied or confirmed any of the content in the report. They just stated they don't know how the report got leaked to the media. Well, thats what they are saying on a fantasy football forum I frequent:
Dallas Police Dept just held a PC and said they don't know how the info leaked and any questions should be sent towards TO, his team, or his agent.
Notice, they were not denying accuracy of the report, just saying they don't know how the report was released to the public..

I woke up this morning and heard the initial reports that said he had an adverse reaction to pain medication. I remember thinking 'Who needs pain medication for a finger that's been healing for 2 weeks alread?'. I thought it was weird when I first heard it and it's obviously a lot weirder now.

I know its getting strange. I am not surprised the police issued that statment, obivously they didn't issue it and they are going to question how it got leaked. I am really curious what is going to be said at the Cowboys press conference later today.

Yes, not to mention, I am now stuck with Lamonte Jordan who has been a total bust so far AND T.O. Thats #2 and #3 pick. Tiki has not excactly been blowing on all his cylinders either. Man, I am doomed this season :x
Why does this allways happen to me? Last year it was Dillon and Kevin Jones, the year before that it was Portis, Barlow and Pennington.

Apparently, the police report was published on the wffa.com website (Dallas-Fort Worth), but its been pulled down. A mirror of the report can be found here:

This story is getting weirder and weirder by the minute O_o
Deion Sanders: I just spoke to TO, he's in good spirits, and he is laughing that people are reporting this was a suicide attempt. He just wants to get out there and play.

I wonder if this counts as T.O. acting up, and if that means I won my bet with Liam. :D
But other than that - er, he's a messed up person. T.O., not Liam.

He needs attention. That's all. It's been almost two weeks since he's had attention because they've been on their bye.

Well, I know he loves attention, but if this is a publicity stunt, he must be the most extreme in history of sports. I mean, faking a suicide attempt for headlines in the newspaper / TV / radio? That just takes the cake, eats it up, vomits it and eats it up again.
Someone just made this remark:
Can you blame the poor guy?
With Dallas on bye, there was actually a full 24-hour period where TO wasn't in the news.
He had to do SOMETHING.

Some updates:
(KFFL) Updating an ongoing storyline, ESPN's Ed Werder reports Dallas Cowboys WR Terrell Owens' publicist said Owens did not try to attempt suicide. His publicist said Owens was groggy when asked questions by the first response unit and there was a miscommunication because he of it. During a press conference, the Dallas Police Department would not confirm or deny Owens attempting suicide. The Cowboys have called a press conference for the afternoon to discuss the situation. Owens has already been ruled out for the team's Week 4 game.
Terrell Owens has returned home after spending Tuesday night in a Dallas hospital. Agent Drew Rosenhaus is also now on the scene. Bill Parcells has a 2:30 EST press conference. There have been unsubstantiated rumors that Owens could attend.
Terrell Owens has returned home after spending Tuesday night in a Dallas hospital and denies that he tried to harm himself with painkillers. The NFL Network's Deion Sanders spoke directly with Owens, and T.O. says he suffered a harmful allergic reaction because of the mixture of painkillers and dietary supplements. Owens will make a statement from his condo by 1:30 EST.
And the press conference has been moved to 3:15 EST.
This is better than that old 80's soap, "Dallas" :)

Yoghurt, I really didn't intend to hose you on this, I would have made the trade last week but if I had then I wouldn't have enough WR to fill my slots with the bye's so I was waiting till this week.

^^ Oh, good to know. I was wondering. Thanks :)
Should have seen it coming when drafting him. I knew the guy is high risk. Even commented on it saying "I wonder who ends up with TO.." and when I got him "Never thought it would be me". Fully planned on avoiding him, but all the tier 1 WRs were gone. I got him late in the draft, he was available in the middle of the third round. Most would probably have picked him there, and most certainly he would be gone in the 4th round.

If you dig that, you should check this thread. Its full of those kind of comments, some of them outright hysterically funny. Very entertaining read:

Summary of the press conference:
Hasn't spoke with TO yet
No understanding of current condition. Still gathering info.
Coaching staff not involved with pain medication.
He needs to get a clearer picture of "what it is"
The media "probably knows more than I do"
When does TO become to big a distraction...
reply...he needs to be clear on this before he comments.
I am just the coach, not the team physician and I know little about the situation.
Would you rule out if TO will play? I won't rule out anything because I am ignorant on the subject.
I don't know where TO is myself.
Didn't talk to players about it during practice today.
I am really getting most of this here. When I leave I probably get more.
Pleased with his practice yesterday.
TO didn't complain of added soreness yesterday.
If TO is on the property, will you talk to him? I don't know what I will do.
I can't give you any information I don't have.
You are talking to an individual who doesn't have a good working knowledge of subject.
Will you put TO on field without a psych evaluation?
I don't know any of this.....
Pacells spoke with Jerry briefly for 2 or 3 minutes before the press conference
Don't you feel you should be filled in before you got here?
reply..only if people have info...we are still looking for info.
Concerns about TO's psych?
We aren't going there...this is gonna be over real quick if we don't move on.
What was Jerrys reaction.
He felt same way, we just have to figure out what happened.
I don't know what happened.
Describe TOs demeanor.
Fine
Can he play with his emotional state.
I am not getting interrogated for no reason. When I find out I'll let you know.
Edit: There are now rumours of McNabb flying to dallas to make amens with T.O... holy cow what a circus. I think thats just an unfound rumour though.

I drafted TO in a leauge last year and made a vow to myself I would not draft him this year as to not get hosed again and I kept that vow in all 3 of my leagues. When TO goes off the draft board there is usually guys like Javon Walker, and Plaxico Burress (2 guys who have combined for 5 out of 6 spots in my drafts, I don't have Burress in the wookie league) that can be had.
Owens went in the 3rd round of the swfans draft. Guys who could have been had (and I took Boldin 1 pick before owens so we can count boldin in that too) Antonio Gates, Hines Ward, Randy Moss, Plaxico Burress, TJ Houshmandzadeh, Chris Chambers, Javon Walker (wow instead of owens in the 5th round).
In the wookie league Owens was taken in the 2nd round. Guys who could have been had instead: Tory Holt, Randy Moss, Marvin Harrison, Antonio Gates, Boldin (I got Boldin twice instead of TO what a freaking steal), Chris Chambers, Dallas Clark, Darell Jackson, Plaxico Burress, Javon Walker (Javon twice instead of Owens pinch me I feel like I am dreaming).
In both our leagues you could have had boldin, burress and walker instead of Owens. I got 2 walkers, 2 boldins and 1 burress instead of Owens and we wonder why I am in 1st place in the swfans league when by passing on Owens I was able to get walker, boldin and burress instead.
So for those keeping score through 3 weeks
Owens has been worth 15 fantasy points
Boldin: 30 fantasy points
Burress: 31 fantasy points
Walker: 38 fantasy points
so the clear steal is Javon Walker, taken in the 4th and 5th rounds respectively instead of the 2nd and 3rd for TO.
Oh and you can claim owens was on bye in week 3 but even if hadn't been he wouldn't have been playing so the scoring is for 3 weeks and owens gets a 0 for week 3 due to injury instead of the bye.

I'm listening to the T.O. conference now on the radio. Though I can't hear every word from office noise, he certainly doesn't sound like a guy who just tried to off himself. He sounds very coherent and 'normal'...if T.O. is capable of normal.
That said, the cameras are on him and he's now in his element.

stuff about WR picks in fantasy drafts
Now hold the phone a second. I could not get Boldin neither in wookie league or swfans. Just like you, I like to pick 2 RBs first in the draft, then the WRs in 3rd and 4th round. Boldin was allready taken third round in both leagues, otherwise I would have picked him. Also, just to clarify, I only picked TO in 1 out of 5 leagues, and that league was swfans.
Who would I pick instead of T.O. if I had the opportunity? S. Smith, Fitzgerald, C. Johnson, M. Harrison, Boldin and maybe Holt. Those are the ones I concidered tier 1 WR studs (and I still do). Those players can put up +100 yard games + TD on a consistant basis. I would jumped all over them if any of those were still left, but they were all gone.
After that, the field gets more muddy. You have players like R. Moss + Chambers, who I personally found hugely overrated. Not so much because of their abilities on the field, but because I had concerns how well they would connect with their QB. My concerns only reinforced after season start. Even knowing what we know today, I would still picked T.O. over these two.
Ward has allways been a great #2 WR. But I was looking for someone with #1 potential. Wayne, also a decent #2 WR and I ended picking him in 4th round. I am a big fan of Colts passing game, and still believe Wayne got crapload of upside.
As for Buress and Walker, I was really not that high on Buress. Sure, in retrospect, you can say I was wrong about him. Walker, he was on a new team, and I had serious doubts about Denver's passing game. Remember, you're a Denver fan, so picking Broncos players comes much easier for you. I agree with you that Walker was a steal, that much is clear now.
But wait, T.O. was also playing for a new team, with a different QB, just like Walker. Why did I pick T.O. again? Well, yeah, but the thing about T.O. you can put Kyle Boller as QB, and he will still perform better than any WR in the NFL. That is WHEN he is healthy and on the field. I really believed his hamstring injury was blown out of proportion in the media (and it was) and that he would shut up and behave just this first season. Thats why I picked him.

Rotoworld: Terrell Owens-WR- Cowboys Sep. 27 - 3:45 pm et
As expected, Terrell Owens denied trying to commit suicide at his press conference. He said he should be able to play Sunday.
"I am not depressed," Owens said. He claims being "out of it" when police officers asked him questions because of a mix of supplements and his pain medication. His publicist also denied nearly all claims from the police report. Perhaps the clearest sign Owens is not in any danger: He caught balls from Drew Bledsoe and Tony Romo Wednesday and says he is ready to play. His publicist ended his presser with a classic line, "Terrell has 25 million reasons to be alive."
Sounds like what really happened is just gonna remain a big mystery, at least for now. He even trained on the field after being out of hospital. It would be funny if after all this mess, he suits up on sunday, and goes on to play the whole season at MVP performance rate.

I can't stand TO, but I figured this had to be some weird misunderstanding, like the idea he was groggy and didn't understand what the cops asked him and just said yes to whatever he heard. Because, face it, TO loves himself way too much to kill himself. :p
And if it was some kind of publicity stunt, God help him. :grumble

Well you couldn't get Boldin in either league because I grabbed him, so when it came to Boldin I was kind of speaking for myself (I took Boldin exactly 1 pick before you took TO and so far that has been a wise decision)
I liked Walker as a packer and him being a bronco I was high on him (I drafted him in all 3 of my leagues).
There was a few players I was high on this year and considered them steals in any league, Eli Manning, Plaxico Burress, and Javon walker. I only got Manning once because I don't like to draft to high on QBs and it was my preranked swfans autodraft that snagged him for me (I think I had him ranked somewhere in the 40s-50's) otherwise I might not have got him.
I like to draft 2 rbs in rounds 1 and 2, then 2 wrs in rounds 4 and 5. I start thinking about a QB in round 5 but only if all the good steals (ala walker, burress) are off the board at either WR or RB.

yea but with Chad there is always an upside, he may be bad now but he could be great tomorrow
while boldin might have a downside, if or should I say when the go to leinhart how will that effect his numbers
