C Dietrek is a professional housesitter. She is married without kids, and enjoys life as a somewhat bohemian artist.
The folks who's house she watches are crazies and workaholics. They work from seven in the morning until eleven at night. Sometime C even gets calls at 10 pm to watch the house that night, as the owners have no desire to come home. C watches this house from seven in the morning until one in the afternoon; after which she goes home to paint and sculpt.
According to C, the owners are nuts. They're old-school hippies who have no children, are terrified of flying, buy swords online, and have them hanging all over the walls. There is a gunsafe in the basement that holds a myriad of bullet-spewing goodies. The master bedroom is repleat with dragon sculptures adorning the walls, and the DVD collection numbers in the hundreds.

In other words, I hate telemarketers.

One of many. It was the third telemarketer to call today so far; usually I get between 2-5 calling me throughout the day.

I don't get telemarketing calls since I'm well away from my home during their hours of operation. :)

Put your number on the Do Not Call Registry.
https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx
That is if you live in the states, I'm not sure if there is anything like this for any other countries. I put mine on the list and havent recieved any calls. If they do call you can report them. If they continue to call then you have a chance to sue. :P
EDIT: I see kitties now! YAY!!!

I have my reserves about the DNC, since I heard it's got alot of loopholes that can be exploited. I should probably just get caller ID. But that still doesn't help me when I'm trying to sleep during the day. Usually I just ignore the phone after a certain time, but darn it if it doesn't ring twenty times before they give up :x

*shrugs* Even with the loopholes most companies don't know about the loopholes. After I registered I got a whole heck of a lot less annoying calls. Not lik they can hurt you with it.
I used to get calls at 7 am... This was when my son was first born too... So i had little sleep to begin with and it'd wake up the baby on top of that. I eventually started getting rude with the people that called cuz I was on my last nerves. lol

Exhausted new mother + telemarketer calling at the worst possible hour = something more horrible than I can imagine :p

I have no sympathy for you when you refuse to give your land line up and get a cell phone on my family's plan. I've already shown you that you could do this for about as much as you're paying right now.

DNC doesn't include mainly, ohh I forgot the term, but it's opinion polls for marketing research, and political advertising/slamming.
EDIT: Love the kittie.

Gods, I hated Telemarketers, we got oodles of calls everyday. Then we got an unlisted phone number, haven't had anyone call since and this was several years ago.

There are also damn good reasons to keep a land line. Just because it's flashy and portable doesnt mean it's better - while everyone knows my mobile and I dont give out my land line because of my business interests, I keep a land line.

I'm very leery of cell phones since I accidentally ran up about a $1500 bill 4-ish years ago. Ever since then I'm content to pay a fixed monthly without having to worry about going 'over my minutes'.

Don't you guys get Pay As You Go over here? With my mobile phone, I can't overspend because you can only spend what credit you have. For example, I put £10 on there each month and once that £10 runs out, I can't make any more calls unless I add more credit. I have a friend who is on a contract and runs up hundreds of pounds, because he never knows how much he is spending... where as with every call I make, I get a little onscreen balance :)

We've also got a massive amount of rollover minutes, free long distance, and its not like you talk peoples ears off anyway.

Our cellphone market is rather backwards compared to Europe and Asia.

I don't like cells myself. They aren't reliable when it comes to getting through and all those hidden charges ticked me off. I had a $500 bill once. I called and complained and threatned to cancel my service. They brought it down to $200.

Good grief, were you calling China or something?!
I have like 3000 anytime minutes and unlimited night and weekends and free calls to other t-mobile customers for about $50 a month + text messages. I use about... 300 of those minutes. We don't have a land line - Ty has a free cell from his work that he uses all the time so there's no need. After all, if you can't reach us on our cell phones we wouldn't be picking up the land line either. Plus, no telemarketers. Knock on wood.

Knock on wood.We have a family plan with free calling to each other, free nights and weekends and most people on the t-mobile network. The only people who go over the allotted minutes have been my sisters. I don't talk on the phone during the day for the most part anyway.

Yeah, mobile phones are big business over here. There are tonnes of different contracts and package deals available. They're always giving something away for free... extra credit, cinema tickets, etc.
The company we're with for our landline at home is great. Calls to anyone else on that network are free, 24/7. Everyone I'm living with at the minute has a mobile, so we don't need a landline... especially now that certain internet providers can offer broadband without the necessity of a landline.

My mobile plan is 49 :bux: a month - 230 minutes talk time, STD and IDD quite generous allowances. I never exceed the call time, but then again my mobile iis more for people to get me, not the other way round. I use a land line to call for locall calls as they are charged at 25 cents fixed for unlimited hours.
I dont see how large charges get incurred in Australia, a bit of clever and your sweet. But my poor mobile, it gets a hard life. Some days it's in use for 1 to two hours a day call time with people calling me. I need to change because it's wearing out :(

You might just need a new battery, unless the keys are wearing out and such.
