It's over a year now since we pushed the big red 'DO NOT PUSH' button and reset the entire storyline of the SWFans universe. Don't worry, I'm not making this topic to propose another reset ;) but to ask how you all feel about how things have changed, and just get a general feel for how everyone is enjoying (or not, as the case may be) the 'new' SWFans.

Well, when I came back it took me a while to catch on and at first I was like really confused about what was going on and such. But after talking to a few more people, you and Morg. I finally got a start and I love it now.

I never approved of the reset and still feel that it was not a good idea. However that is in the past, so no point in bickering.
I like how the new timeline is progressing and thoroughly enjoy reading many of the threads here. I've also noticed a great improvment in the quality and dept of threads since the reset.

I still sometimes miss some things from threads of old, but I think that it was a good move. The reset. :) It has given me a chance to interact with people and characters that I may not have, very spiffy. Also a fresh page to change some things about my characters that needed fine tuning.
So yeah, I'm happy. :D

I definetly agree about how the writing around here has really improved in quality since the reset. I mean, it was pretty good before, but now it seems to have considerable thought put into it. The reset was needed, because as I see it, things were getting stagnant.
So, it's shiny. :thumbup

I lost a lot of background in the reset. I feel like I've regained all the depth that vanish, though.
The reset was a great idea :) It's easier for newbies and vets to jump right into a new character and understand what's going on in the galaxy. That promotes RPing and, well, it's just a damn fun time in the SW timeline.
I would've used more smilies but I have a limited resevoir as ebil dictator ;)

As one of the many who drastically changed the scope of my character, it's very different and lets me explore avenues that I hadn't before.
I do miss the old s'Il at times, but I'm enjoying myself enough to let the memories stay just that - fun times to remember. Like Khendon said, there was alot of history that we left, but it was for the better, and I firmly believe that the reset gave this place a new kind of life.

It was easier to jump back in with the reset. Plus, when I envision the SW Universe, I get a really clear picture of it now (in light of the reset). That's handy.
Part of it is double-edged. I'm so glad that the Jedi have become so sparse and well-played - you don't have a bunch of people running around constantly swingin' their lightsabers at every-friggin' thing. However, I miss all the awesome saber duels. It was common and fun to see a Jedi and a Dark Jedi or Sith get into it. :)

I think the reset did a lot for the board. We're more accessible to newcomers now - it doesn't take long for someone to figure out whats going on in our universe and how they can make themselves fit. Before we had a lot of history, but the further back you went the less it tended to make sense. ;)
There are less arguements going on in the RPing Discussion Forum, too.

I have to say that at first, during the planning stages, I though the reset would be the best thing in the world for our board. Ever since then, though, I must say I have regretted it. But, as they say, there is no point in crying over spilt milk. I'm willing to live with the reset and I you won't find my whining aind complaining about it :)

I feel that the re-set has really helped bring the Star Wars roleplaying elements come to life. People had invested so much in their characters and the stories surrounding them that they were unwilling to allow things to change making it difficult to have epic story lines in the Star Wars tradition. Now we can have those big storylines and carry on with the smaller stuff too.
The changes following the re-set (to the structure of the forums and the addition of the General Roleplaying Forum) have also livened up the place. I must also say that the decision to make a RP Planning and Discussion Forum was an excellent move, encouraging people to co-operate in creating stories.
All in all it has been a good thing.

I am still of mixed feelings. The Empire we had post reset had three years of history in the making and had a lot of potential. Post reset, however, we have gained new members and seen a resurgeance in Rping, so I cannot complain

Honestly, for me, it just is. I lost a lot of character development with the reset, especially for Kale, and I still haven't found a good place for him. After floundering for a bit and watching several attempts at a Jedi RP group fizzle and die, I lost interest and left for several months.
The only real success I've had post-reset is with new characters, and, granted, I have enjoyed writing them. I think the new storyline is more compelling and more accessible to newcomers. In that, it was a positive step, but it came at a hefty price of alienating a number of very good and established RPers.
I'm still disappointed about Kale, though. :(

For me personally, I hit a dead end with a lot of my characters, both new and old ones I created. I felt like I had nothing to offer the universe and our universe was a tangled mess of insanity that made no sense at times. Yes, there was a lot of history but that history isn't lost :) thankfully.
But it was in that history that it was easy to hit complications with characters after awhile since there was nothing defining about the board as a whole. :\ I don't know how to explain it besides that.
After the reset, we have a solid footing and with the new setting, I had a chance to restructure my characters and have fun again. It was hard work, a lot of hard work, but one I came to enjoy. I havent had this much fun writing my characters since I first came to the board :)

As much as I miss the old days of Greater Jedi Order dance parties that spanned 30 pages and resulted in me and Zeke ultimately hijacking it for our own sick, twisted pleasure...I've definitely noticed an improvement in the quality of the roleplaying on these boards.
The reset gave me a chance to take Lion in a different direction, removing the Jedi influence over his character entirely and taking a more military-oriented position. I've had a tremendous amount of fun with it, and I've got no problems with the current status of things.

I see both good and bad with the reset.
It did help allot of people who where at dead ends with characters me included in that. It helped my virtually dead character OW here and brought him back with a bit of style that seems to be at least touching a few readers out there. It also helped me re-establish characters like Gerbo lang who died out due to the shrines leaving it allowed me to bring him back with a fresh new storyline and back round. Which that character needed exstremely.
So it raised a few of my dead characters from the ashes but it baired a few more deeper then they where already baried. Jason dreggs for example got baried so much I reset him to world of darkness but am trying to revamp him in sw under a knew name at the moment. It also baried my character Jackson Mcgraves whom I thought the reset would most benefit I will get into the part that baried him in a moment. My character Blade although not dead is baried for much the same reason Jackson is but he is not as far gone.
The main disapointing and draw back I have seen to this reset is the lack of open threads. I'm not saying clique because that isn't my mean behind what I say next. I see alllot of closed threads in fact thats all we seem to have left anymore is closed threads. These threads are for specific people it seems there rebels have theres, the sith have theres, and so on. The jedi are scattered and those that don't fit into a specific group of people that lot together seem to be lost for good (this is probably the prime example of what the close threads promote). Sure you can ask to join a closed thread but as I have found out you rarely if ever get a response and if you do you have to give exact specifics of how your character will fit in. If you don't meet there expectations there is big NO branded on your head.
I don't claim innocense in this catigory eather cause I find myself making closed threads more then open because I find Open threads that I do post get no response or when they do it is so long after I post them I forget about them.
As i see there is good and bad with the reset. On one hand I find a few of my lesser characters making in this new format. Yet I find some of my bigger ones floundering due to this closed society we seem to be promoting now.
Part of this reset was to try and bring new people in but with are closed thread agenda I don't see that helping that situation much. However are new things Like WoD and this Rome rp are doing descently well to bring new people. I see are sw side of things flondering in the future unless we figure out a way to get others involved while the other new rp succeed on this board.

I agree with the point that we need to bring in more Open threads that work and new people. Although it is easy to enter, it is hard to sustain with all these big stories going around it.
However, the RPing on the SW side is slowing down right now. All we need now is a big SW event or a lot of advertising to kick it up a notch with new people joining in for RPing :)

I dont' think we need to plan a big SW event. In the past, such planning always goes well for about a month and then everyone gives up.
To get more RPing out of people, we need to RP more ourselves - you get out of the boards what you put into it.

Yeah, historically large-scale RPs either stall in the planning stage, or become too reliant on a large number of people to post regularly, and bog down after a page or so as people begin to lose interest.
