o.o My stuff isn't nearly as good as the things I've seen in here, but I have been out of practice for so long. I just started painting again after two 1/2 years of doing nothing.

This is in pencil. My husband took the pic without waiting for the hairspray to dry so there are splotches(hairspray prevents the pencil from smudging, found that out years ago from an artist at some kiosk during a fair years ago).

Guache was the demon we had to fight back when I was in school. Give me straight up acrylics, PLEASE; anything but guache.

It's like the devil. Seriously though? It's simply frustrating to use. I've got a black and white piece I way back in the day, and I'll try to scan it after I wake up later today. There's a certain flow with acrylics that guache doesn't have. It's like trying to wrestle with your brush to get anything to come out even remotely how you want it to.

About the only thing I have that I did with guache are 3 large bristol sheets of nothing but color swatches. Eventually I do want to get them frames and hang them up as a series, because they look amazingly awesome in a weird artsy-fartsy way ^_^;

It's like water colors, but crappier. If you applied it too thinly, it ruined your board; too thick, and it cracked when it dried :cry I had an entire semester of classes using that crap!

My favorite art courses in college were Silk Screening, Typography, and Life Drawing. I loved life drawing because I got to use chalk pastels and paint and basically whatever I wanted to for like, 3 hours straight. Plus our first year teacher would throw chalk/pencils/ easels at people who weren't paying attention, and draw all over his face with marker to teach us how to draw facial features :lol

Oh, and I liked Airbrush class too. I wish I had an air pump, because air brushing is loads of fun :D

This is pirate Corias wielding twin movie-era Klingon disruptor pistols, some of the coolest sci-fi sidearms ever. :D

Here's a little something I smacked up late last night, this morning. It's very far away from being a nice, cleaned-up image, but it works for what it is, I think... a sketchy piece that makes IG-88 look supremely bad, like he ought to look.

Hehe, good guess Karl :) Charley has been asking me to make him a new avatar for SA for a while now, and I think I had that in mind when I started. It's not finished yet though.

And yeah, that be a vornskr. Mine are a lot different from the ones in books, and they're still changing until I get a version I really like. Mostly it's the heads that I'm trying to get to my own satisfaction; the bodies I've pretty much made a decision on.

Once I get stuff more organized in my head and drawn out, I'll start a thread just for Lupine art :)

I have a really cheap tablet by the brand "Jam Studio" that I got a few years ago for around $25. Took forever to find XP drivers but it works well enough for me. I don't draw often so it's better than spending at least $100 on a nice one.

What can I say, I'm too cheap for Wacom. Even if they're really nice.

A morning doodle of Daani and Tak in their preteens. Some song by Matraca Berg called 'Along for the ride' was playing while I was finishing it up, and it just sort of complimented the picture perfectly :)

I agree, the middle one is awesome. I'd suggest playing around with a haze over the city, since it's in the background. The middle one kind of accomplishes that with its gradient.

I also like the third one. I think it's the life in the color as opposed to the first, which is more subdued (definitely could do some cool stuff with it, though, through subdued... now I wanna' play around! lol)

Dal, he looks like someone mushed Bruce Lee and Elvis together :p Your use of negative space is awesome; I'd really love to see how you start your drawings and the process on the whole if you're ever able to scan something in different stages of completeness.

You've got a good start Wyl. I really like the composition you've got going. You should try going out to wherever with a sketchpad and do some life drawing. Restaurants are good for that, and beaches as well :)

I like yours the way it is too, Morg. Unfinished pieces are awesome because I like to imagine all the different ways it could go from where the artist stopped. Oh Mili :love

Actually the face was my dissapointment. Not use to painting like I am I lossed a little accuracy. This was the second time I did the Bruce Lee pic. The first time was on my wall at work which turned out a little better. But still they said he looked like Rocky in the face at work. lol what I did was take a picture that I saw on the internet. That someone had black and whited and I thought hey I could draw that. originally it was a photograph. I then looked up the word for Dragon and put that there in the red. As best I could considering I'm not Chinese. lol. So you see its not a random symbol it means Dragon. I will scan some pencils there a little tighter.. BUT If a photo scanned a pic would you digitally paint it for me?

I've been thinking about doing this for a while, and after almost an entire bottle of merlot and talking with Khendon, I'm going to post this.

It originally started out as a fun little idea, then quickly escalated from there. I ended up taking the thing to kinkos, haveing it printed up huuuge (3 feet tall), then trucking to Michaels to have it custom framed.

The day I picked it up I took it to work. I'd always had the idea to simply give it to them as a gift. I don't know; maybe I'm just one of those stupid loyal workers, but hell. I like Phifer a lot; good company if you ignore the more craxy (read: sometimes outright stupid) stuff they do, but that's just about every workplace, right?

So anyways, I cart this huge print in to one of the GM's who I like to consider a very good friend (I sometimes wonder if he thinks of me as some psycho-ward escapee). He proceeds to parade me around and show off this picture. I was so embaressed, but heck. Why can't I spell?

And to my surprise, he says 'hey! I think Phifer should BUY this from you!'

Now, if you go to Phifer Inc.'s website, you can see a very small representation of the little mascot - the Phiferman, if you will. He's a little Civil War era fifer boy; simple enough.

After much hemming and hawing on my part (because an artist is his/her own worst critic), I have sold the print and the file for six hundred dollars.

I'm happy :)

I use Poser 3D to make digital models of whatever it is I'm doing usually. Then I use photoshop to texture and skin everything. Some stuff was handdrawn and then rendered. Most of my textures came from pictures I took with an old Nikon S2 camera or with a cheap digital one.

Feel free to take what you want, and feel free to repost. Supporting membership payments aren't required though.:p Art is art, not a commodity.
