Ok I was supposed to be getting two kittens today from a local shelter. My sister in law fostered them (bottle fed, etc) for the shelter, and they were supposed to be up for adoption today after being fixed.
SURPRISE! They weren't. They weren't even at the shelter. They haven't even been fixed (they are not adoptable until they are).
Some lady at the shelter doesn't like my sister in law, and she decided that the kittens were too small to have their surguries. Which, they are not. My sister in law overfeeds if anything, and they were not too young or too small. SO then this woman send the two kittens off to two other foster homes with the option to adopt. Mind you , they can't adopt them until they're fixed. They haven't done the paperwork or anything. The transfer wasn't even in the computer system.
So my husband gets done with work early so he can get to the shelter as soon as it opens today (I really want these paticular kittens, ok?) and THE CATS ARE NOT THERE. He chews this woman a new you know what, and then spends 2 hours talking to the director of the shelter. Who proceeds to tell him we have grounds to sue the shelter, and if the people who have the kittens currently don't bring them back we can sue them too. Legally the kittens are not theirs.
So the director says he'll call Ty back, and he just did. The people with the kittens DO NOT WANT TO BRING THEM BACK. They've had them for one day.
I'm so disappointed I'm sick, and Ty is going to ask for the names of these two families that have the kittens so we can threaten legal action and hopefully scare them into bringing them back. I'm so mad. :mad :( Why are people so INCOMPETENT THESE DAYS!!!!!! I hope that woman at the shelter gets fired over this. :verymad

Heh, it doesn't sound like incompetence it sounds like discrimination.
I hope you decide on means of settlement other than a lawsuit though. Mediation is usually far cheaper and less stressful for all involved.

I can't discuss an ongoing case.
;)
No we're THREATENING a lawsuit, we aren't going to bring one unless they like beat us up or something.
I think if they can't get the cats back and the threat of legal action does nothing I think we're going to 'settle' for another kitten and a Dobermann puppy whenever they get one. Or maybe a giraffe and a llama. And a monkey.
FOR FREE DAMMIT!!!!

VaderLoungie: seen the big lebowski?
HollieBelle2: no
VaderLoungie: Passingly attempt a civil, intellectual discussion
VaderLoungie: argue semantics with your husband and the other party
VaderLoungie: boil over rapidly
HollieBelle2: why would I argue with my husband?
VaderLoungie: just do it :-)
HollieBelle2: okok
VaderLoungie: shout gutterally and be obscene
VaderLoungie: include a lot of ultimatums
VaderLoungie: things like "OVER THE LINE" and "THIS FAR NO FARTHER" and "YOU'RE ABOUT TO ENTER A WORLD OF PAIN"
HollieBelle2: lol
VaderLoungie: insinuate or outright threaten violence
HollieBelle2: or give me my damn giraffe!
VaderLoungie: include either fake or real weapons
HollieBelle2: lol
VaderLoungie: with verbage like "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FIND A STRANGER IN THE ALPS"
HollieBelle2: haha
VaderLoungie: mention vietnam constantly
VaderLoungie: bemoan that you didn't sacrifice your childhood innocence in a firebase in Da Nang so that these idiots could take your kittens
HollieBelle2: lol
HollieBelle2: they ARE idiots
VaderLoungie: allow your husband to cool you down, all the while trying to be indirectly confrontational with them even still

See, this is the kind of advice I turn to SWFans for.
Ty said that if they'd already installed the tracking chips into the kittens that he'd just track them down himself, pretend to be a vaccum salesman and get into the house...
...then when he spots the kitten *shoop!* suck it up into his fake vaccum. "Ma'am you have enough cat hair in here to make an entire new cat!" Then make his getaway before they realize that the big lintball in the vaccum container is a kitten. >D

Well, as of two a.m. last night I have three more grandkitties, we could have them trained to go in for some reconnaissance? :p
The Director of the place needs to tell the people with your kitties that if they don't return with your property that a bunch of crazy Star Wars types may descend upon them...>D

What you have to do is don a suit of cardboard armor. Fit yourself with a garbagecan lid shield, and a sawed-off gardenhose with a soggy roll of TP attached to one end.
March into the shelter and declare the injustices done to you, then demand a duel between yourself and the crazy lady at the shelter.

I was going to dress up like Cruella DeVil and stalk around the place examining the pelts. ;)
However.
One of the kittens is being returned to the shelter tonight and we will get him for free tomorrow. I'm hoping that when we get there they don't have some random kitten for us to pick up, because I KNOW what Taylor looks like. Yes, it's a grey kitten named Taylor. I'd change his name, because I have a feeling he was named after the newest American Idol, also with grey hair, but I'm used to calling him that now.
My sister-in-law is fostering another kitten for a different shelter named Sammy and he's a cute little black kitten who likes to play. We're probably going to take him in a week or so when he's big enough. And our second free cat from the first shelter will be a gift to Ty's sister for her 21st birthday. :)

It's a conspiracy, I tell ya, a conspiracy!!! :grumble
In the meantime, here's something to amuse all you kitty fans:
Kitlers (http://www.catsthatlooklikehitler.com/)
My older cat could almost qualify for this website, although she has only half a mustache and it isn't black. :)

That is too awesome. :D
We did get the call, and picked up Taylor around 3 this afternoon. We also picked up Sammy from my sister-in-law, so we have two new kittens! Spunky, our existing cat, is a little afraid of them, but so far they seem to be getting along ok. :)

Well... all cats are evil. They even have evil clubs.
That's why they're so cute :) They're total Imperials at heart.
