Hey! Are there any JRock (Japan Rock) fans out there?
Charley

I hope not. I can't imagine people who actually listen to it, other than as a passing comedy option gimmick.

Well, I listen to it! I was hoping to find common ground between other posters. Why so crass and so hard against Japanese music?
Charley

Because it is incredibly terrible and grating on every sensibility I hold dear.
I mean, its good for a laugh, but so are bollywood musicals.

Hahaha! I appreciate your opinions on it! I love it, so I take it you have heard it before and didn't care much for it?

I've heard it.
I wish I hadn't. My ears will never be the same.

Yes! I am in love with Jrock. Not many people around here like it. Glad to see I have a comrade in arms! ^_^

I have never heard of those! I am very partial to Dir en Grey, Miyavi, and PIERROT. Three of the best things that have ever happened to me! ^_^

It's all so camp and cheesey, but I love it. Malice Mizer/Gackt and L'arc~en~Ciel are my faves.

Tell me about it. I recently was able to acquire Gackt's more recent album "Diabolos". The music is so much better, but his voice is wanting a little. Laruku, however, only seems to get better!

Guitar Wolf is very punk/rockabilly, and Phantasmagoria is very metal. :D

Okay, I love you people. Ha ha. Well those who are in love with the music! It is a shame that America hasn't begun to catch onto the crazy trend that is taking California and New York by storm! I love Dir en Grey! Malice Mizer, too! The Pillows are good as well. Laruku is also a good one! Heard any of HYDE's solo stuff? Sweet. I am glad they are all starting to tour here in the states. Gackt...eh...he is good but you are right, Yasuko, his voice is seeming to fade into nasal sound. Not really appealing to me anymore. What happened to his 'Mars' days?

Totally!! OMG!! I LOVE JROCK!! I have to thank my best friend for getting me into it a year ago. L'Arc~en~Ciel, Gackt, Dir en Grey, PIERROT, Miyavi, Gazette, Malice Mizer...so many that I am in love with and will marry some day. Hyde's solo albums are good, but he has become heavier than he was on his debut album. I heard that on IMF they are showing Japanese PVs. Damn! How I want Dish Network!!!!

I want JRock to go away. :( I'm with Charley, Morgan, and Khendon: Jrock fails at life.

JRock is mostly an annoying attempt at rocking. Not saying all JRock is bad, but, well, most of it is.
A higher percentage of disparity between good and bad than the American rock scene, at least.

I am not sure, Evie! He sounded so great on Mars and Rebirth, then Diabolos just kind of faded. I am thinking his smoking habit has finally gotten the best of him! And yeah, Jes, I caught the tail end of HYDE's Season's Call PV again the other day. And I wish I could catch Miyavi! Anyone who loves Jrock should put IMF on drip. It's worth seeing the Asian bands!

Hehe! Well I am glad that some people enjoy it and others don't. I just wish that that people who don't like it to post how much is stinks. But I guess they are allowed to have their opinions as well. HYDE's Season's call? Is that an old song?
Yasuko Arai
Jun 22nd, 2006, 10:08:09 PM
I think Season's Call is newer. I am not sure, I haven't looked him up in awhile. I think it was a single that came out later last year.

I'm sure everyone here has some kind of musical quilty pleasure that the rest of the us would find terrible.
I don't really listen to J-anything (besides the odd anime soundtrack I already own) because I don't have speakers on my computer :D

I have a good friend at school who loves the JRock. Gackt inparticular. Though, she's very hardcore Japanese culture, and can actually speak it pretty fluently. o_o (she's not japanese).
Myself... eh. Not to into it.
The only thing pleasing to come from France is Alizee. (sp?) ...<3
