View Full Version : Direct Encounter

I was hoping to eventually have a direct encounter with the Rebellion. My character has yet to clash with the Army, Navy or any aspect of the combat-ready fleet of the Rebellion. If there is an active, willing character out there that is seeking a chance to beat me up... :P
Please respond.

I dont know if it's okay to double post, or bump or anything...but I was wondering if anyone would be interested.
I'm still looking, and I dont know exactly who is active and who isn't. I'm not certain if the Agents would be fitting for a direct encounter, but at this point it seems I dont have much of any choice.
So if there is anyone out there active, and interested...please post or send a PM.

To be honest, anything military is kinda dead here :( All we have active is Agents and Rogue Squadron :\

Darn.
Well would any of those be up with a small sabotage or bombing. Either of those would be worthy of a direct encounter with Lamar on a routine inspection.

*sigh* where are Leon, Tai, Reshmar, and Redic. I miss fleet battles.

Why aren't many people interested in the army side of the Rebellion?

Been that was forever. Answer is, no idea.

Not many stormtroopers either. I'm the only one to my understanding.
I wonder if people just dont like ground movement. Bleh! I understand troopers, because they were always shown as fillers in movies for the Jedi and such to kill. But in the movies army characters were never looked down upon on the Rebellion side.
So, who would be a worthy replacement in ground work? An agent?

You could always start a rebel character:D . Heck, Karl Valten was a minor NPC I used as a plot device about two years back and evolved into my most active character.

If it has to come to that, I probably will.

I'm still looking. My eventual aim is for some sort of battle on a planet.
Since I've come, I haven't seen a battle or much of any war. A lot of intelligence and stuff. Great writing, but not a single attack on a planet or strategic movement.
Seems there is no point in having a stormtrooper. It's sort of discouraging.

planet takeovers are what this board used to be about oh so long ago. It caused more headaches then anything so we've moved away from that alot.

Then what can I do?
Beside guard a few big names, stand out side of stadiums and be a face there is not much for a stormtrooper to do without battle. It's like being a policeman or security guard.

You can do planetary take overs.
There's nothing against them. Just get both sides to agree what's going to happen first. That's the way to keep everyone happy :)
Oh, and agree on the planet.
The reason we don't have many planetary take overs is simple: we don't have any OOC groups to go to war with and planets don't mean much OOC. When they used to mean resources we had tons of wars and conflicts and it was great for the fleeters.

Well I have an idea of attacking Bothawui Proper. (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Bothawui)
Basics of the outcome would be an infrigement on Bothan's neutrality in the war and setting up a garrison there to reformat their culture and restrict self-governing.
Is that okay?

Sounds like a plan. If the planet ends up in turmoil, with both factions present, it could also act as a setting for future, pro-longed conflicts.
If you'd like some Alliance involvement, I wouldn't mind creating a character for Rebel SpecForce to act as some opposition. Maybe I could persuade some others to create a new char too (I'm looking at you Gracey :angel)

Yeah, that would be nice. I had a Rebel Guerilla Force NPC ready for something like this, so I'm ready whenever it comes time.

Oh wow. I didn't realize I wrote that much.
Not much has happened so far though. Just a few scrimmages between the Bothan and Imperial. No Rebel presence so far.
So don't be scared...at least not yet. :)

Who is going to be jumping into the thread?

Oh yah, if you guys are still interested in playing a part, maybe you dont have to recreate characters. Just having a snippets of Rebel presence would lighten up the thread.
Directors of Rebel Intelligence could easily make an apperance from afar by getting scouting reports and shaping the war a bit more on the ground front.
If you would like a breifing of what is going on so to formulate more, I'd love to do it.

I was also wondering if anyone involved in the Fleet of the Rebellion would be interested in throwing themselves into this battle because it will eventually reach that point. Actually, I'd actually like it to happened soon, if not the next post.
If anyone of the Rogue Squadron would be encouraged to swing in for a bombing of some sorts to key Stormie/Imp Army outpost, than please post here or PM me.

Hehe, thanks.
I think the length is scaring people off. Don't leave me all by myself :(
Miranda Tarkin
Aug 1st, 2006, 08:42:24 AM
I was joking about the length actually. it was the fact you made a Rebel and jumped in leaving me and Dasq to wonder why we were asked =\
which then made us wonder what the plan was since we weren't privvy to what your Rebel was doing ... or something.

I threw the Rebel in there to establish what the Rebel presence on the previously neutral world was all about. After a talk with Dasq, I continued with RPing the Reb because it seemed like he was having some trouble working his character in.
At this point it's no trouble. I've wrote it to a point where any fleeters can jump in and basically take over the story. :) There is just so much that a ground trooper could do on his own.

I suppose that is why I couldn't get into the swing of writing a post of it, for the reasons that Miranda stated. Just felt like the Rebels there were already handling things. If they had maybe sent out a communication to Dasq et al...
Some members of Rogue Squadron could probably show up for a bombing run, but that's about all you're likely to get as far as fleet presence goes.
Miranda Tarkin

Yeah me and Dasq arent fleeters. We never were O_o we can do single shot entanglements but grand scale stuff we're clueless
Lamar Starworth
Aug 1st, 2006, 10:42:29 PM
Yeah, that is what I am interested in. Maybe a few of the Rogue Squadron making an apperance, possibly interacting with the Imperial squads or bombers.
Interception and shoot-downs. Things like that. Stuff to give a vivid, wild view of the raging war. It seems like it has been a while since the Galactic Civil War has interacted on a fleeting level.
Karl Valten
Aug 1st, 2006, 11:26:50 PM
Aye, but from what I've been reading, large scale fleeting will detract from the coherency of the thread. Fast paced action will keep things moving forward, maybe just make general references to capitol ships and keep most of the stuff from a cockpit point of view.
