If any of you still go to ezboard, I am sure you have heard about their plan to migrate to Yuku. I just registered a Yuku account, and I have to be honest with you....the entire setup sucks. It is horrible. They are turning ezboard into a second rate myspace and in turn are killing the message board part of it. I will continue to post at the two boards I currently post at simply because I like the people there, but I believe I am leaving whenever everything moves to Yuku. I know most of you do not care and haven't been to an ezboard since SWFans moved to this vB, but you should seriously check out this new suckfest.

I wonder what the existing ezboards think about the change over.

General Ceel seemed a little ill about it. I think he is trying to fake optimism because he is such a die hard ezfan, but he seems pissed off by the fact that his board is having to move to a crappier system so that all of these 13 and 14 year old kids can have another site to post their blogs on. I talked to a couple of other members from a niced size board, including its owner, and they all seemed a little pessimistic about the situation. I think this is going to kill the small boards and hurt the large boards severely.

I can understand people being uneasy about the move - after all Ezboard has managed to delete lots of posts and even boards due to mishaps and mistakes. And hackers.
Being told what you have to do with your webspace usually always sucks.

...which is why it's great to have your own webspace :D
I remember posting about Yuku here a while ago, back when they were still developing the place yet still asking people to start moving people their boards over - onto an unfinished platform :rolleyes
vB is the place to be.

vB has it's issues but for small to medium sized communties it's a solid option. eZboard was never very good.

I can see the bigger ezboards moving to vBs during the next few months. The only two boards I post at anyway are TGC (just OOC, I haven't RPed in a long time) and the Swamps of Dagobah, which is pretty much dead except for one or two posts a day by Luke, John, Ceel, or me, so leaving ez won't be too hard for me.
Do any of you still use ezboard?

Is it just me or does the name Yuku remind everyone of Yoko Ono?

...and we all know that nothing good can come of Yoko Ono.

I transferred my ezboard account to Yuku, and it does seem more like a myspace place than a message board place.
But then, its ezboard and we all know that nothing good will come of this. ;)

Hehe. All I remember about them were they were ugly and horrible.

If you think they were bad from the end user's POV they were worse from the administrative side.

Is there a deadline when everything will be 'moved' to the Yuku sites?
Tipp Gray
Jun 17th, 2006, 07:56:32 PM
There is no deadline, but the company said that all ezboards and members will be forced to move over in the end. I think they are hoping by doing it this way all boards that are still up and running will move then they can kill the unused boards (again) when ezboard shuts down for good and Yuku is the new platform.

What a mess. I can't even begin to compare. I've never been in a situation like that on the net.

There is a large board that I still post on in Ezboard, it is called Navweaps Discussionboard, dealing with discussion about navies, weapons, history, etc., and it is a very large and active board.

I still admin an ezboard, the owner hardly shows up but we are beginning discussions as to whether to go with Yuku or go elsewhere. And of course Epics already moved to vB where we're more successful than we ever were on ezboard.
I have been checking out Yuku since it was in Alpha and I haven't seen much improvement. I haven't transferred any of my ezboard accounts over, I'm sort of apprehensive about the whole thing. Our group of RPers went through almost this exact same thing years ago and the result was that the members fled and the whole thing shut down shortly thereafter.

Now that I transferred one account over it went all Yuku on me and now whenever someone clicks to view my profile it takes them to my Yuku profile. This is really ticking me off.
edit: ok I figured it out. Still, it makes me mad lol.
