So they had this on CBS tonight here is the link to the story.

i am not surprised with the top 5 at all. Though I don't understand these obscure movies like Breaking away.

Hmm, link doesn't seem to be working at the moment - I'll check again tomorrow. I always thought Breaking Away was a great movie, but maybe that's only because I am an IU graduate. It's one of those "Add a star if ..." movies. :) I enjoy popping it in now and then because it's neat to see the campus (although man it's changed since then...)

Rudy's only 54? Bah!
That's the most inspiring thing I've ever seen.

I'm surprised #80 Babe is rated so much higher than #100 Chariots of Fire. Actually, I'm mortified that it is.

Tonight, AFI's 100 most dumb reasons to make pointless lists about movies!
Gah, cant they just give up?

Their lists still irk me, they always give way too many nods to older obscure movies. Just because its old doesn't mean its good...
To Kill a Mockingbird is a great movie, but #2 most inspiring? #3 & #4 I agree with though.
Hoosiers is a great one, should have been top IMO, ditto with Shawshank.
Rudy & Glory should have also been higher.

I don't have a problem with To Kill a Mockingbird at #2, it was really an ispiring movie so I can see that. Its only the Obscure movies I have issues with, but of course this thing is voted on by people in the industry and I suppose a few of them must like these movies that are obscure.

I didn't really find many of them obscure at all?
I thought it was a good list. One of the better ones they've put out.

Well it was really Breaking Away that I found obscure, the others I have heard of but most of the older films that I think the others are talking about where farther down in the list. I think my only problem was why was 2001 considered an inspiring movie. Maybe it is because I haven't seen that movie in ages but the first thing I remember is Hal killing everybody on the ship. It was the same thing with One flew over the cucko's nest because I didn't think the Indian storyline was the main one but that one I would let go.

The whole trippy section ending with his Dave's death and rebirth as the star child can be seen as inspirational I suppose. It is to some people. I've found it more interesting than inspiring, but everyone is different.
