Life was full of surprises, pleasures, and disasters. The trick was to take the pleasures as they come, keep an eye out for the surprises, and always be prepared for the disasters. That was the mentality that the Infamous Criminal Mastermind Jecht Tar had taken throughout his career and life. His abilities had him wanted on many planets and a picture of his face could be found in every security office on those planets. It hadn't always been that way. At one time Jecht Tar was a completely unheard of person. Born on Ord Mantel to a pair of poor Bakuran immigrants. He hadn't had much as a child, nor had he really needed it. His imagination aloud him escape to his own little world and avoid the pains of the real one. His mother died during the P12 outbreak that struck their small city. Half the city's population died off in a week and many suffered from slow, painful deaths as the disease slowly ate through their bodies. The cause of the disease was never found and it would remain one of the greatest mysteries in Ord Mantelian history. But we're getting off track. Jecht's imaginary would slowly faded away with the death of his mother. He no longer could escape and was forced to face the world head on. While his father survived the epidemic, he was greatly weakened from the whole thing and never regained his strength. He could no longer work and could barely eat. He just laid in bed until the day Urion took him.

Jecht was on his own now, and he was ready to do whatever it took to survive. He fought, stole, and killed everything and everyone he had to in order to survive, and no one could stop him. He was slippery, cunning, and deadly. Knives were his weapon of favor. Once he finished robbing his own city blind, Jecht moved on to the next city, and then on to the next. It was no longer a means of survival, it was a game now, and Jecht loved it. He stole as much as he could and blew the load as fast as he could, sometimes he would steal the money only to give it back again, thus making it a sport. Underground movements would make bets on who Jecht would steal from next. Eventually the people of Ord Mantell would become smart and clever enough to foil Jecht's robberies.

He pooled his money and purchased a ship in one of the few cities he had yet to work in. The ship was a stealth prowler vessel, unarmed but it made up in its lack of weaponry with its stealth capabilities. Jecht took the ship off planet and had the engines upgraded and a few illegal stealth components installed. The ship was virtually invisible now, to the eye and to sensors. It became Jecht's pirate ship.

Jecht terrorized the surrounding star systems for years, nothing was safe from him. Eventually he took on more similar minded men into his confidence and created his own pirate armada. His actions continued, but now on a wider scale. He was kind of the sector and no one could stop him, or so he thought. Jecht's actions finally got large enough that the planetary governments could no longer deal with him and the Empire was called in. The Imperial Navy wiped out Jecht's pirate fleet and sent Jecht into hiding halfway across the galaxy on the planet Nar Shaddaa in the sector controlled by the Hutts. There he managed to scratch out a modest living, but due to his lack of reputation in that area of the galaxy he had a hard time finding work. He turned to bounty hunting and later an assassin. He worked for a long time, worked up a great reputation, only to get knocked down once again. His lack of laser weapon skills put him at a great disadvantage. Other assassins could do better and got all the contacts, leaving Jecht behind with only small time jobs, and eventually he lost tose too. He dropped the assassination career and instead found work in the employment of the Hutts as an enforcer. This worked for a time but Jecht got tired of it too. The space ways were calling his name and he was in no position to refuse them.

He left Hutt Space and circled around the area just outside hutt space in his prowler, boarding transport ships and robbing its occupants. This work for a time, until the Empire got word of his actions again and sent their navy once again to stop him. Jecht was ready for them this time, well sort of. His ship took heavy damage during his escape, but in the end he got away and thats all that mattered to him. With his ship nearly dead Jecht was forced to land on the closest planet, and that planet turned out to be the planet Onderon.

He set his ship down in the city of Iziz and wandered about the city for a long time, spending his money of food, drink, and pleasurable company. It was all a vain attempt to drown out the pain. He had lost his armada, his career, and now his ship. He had nothing else. He would have to force himself to be content here on Onderon. He tried his hand at several honest trades but could not stand any of the them for long. His money was running out and he would starve if he did not find employment.

In the end he could find nothing he liked and was forced into the joining the one thing he was sure he would hate, the Onderon Military. He started out low on the Du'ka pole and stayed there for a lengthy time before his skills were recognized by his superior officers. Jecht was transferred to the Beast Riders division, taking the place of the former second-in-command who had died during a recent run in with a the native wildlife. Jecht headed the land forces while Commander Tu'tracka handled the air forces. Jecht's personal favorite mount was the Giant Boma from the moon of Dxun.

Two years later Tu'tracka retired and Jecht took his position as commander of the Beast Rider Division. He would remain there for another year before his great skills become recognized and his position was transfered out of the Beast Riders and into the Royal Guard. He never found out who was responsible for his transfer. It was most likely one of the rear generals or the General himself. Jecht preferred to believe that it was one of the royal family that had organized his transfer, it helped him sleep better at night. He took to his new position like a wookie to the jungle. His rapidly rising career stopped then and there. It was much harder to move up through the ranks of the Royal Guard then it was in the Military. He found himself half way up the line and the officers above him were in no position to promote him further or suddenly die off in the night. Their reason for not promotion him was his lack of determination. He acted like everything was a easy or a joke, mostly it just made others uneasy. Despite his joking mannerism towards everything, when disaster loomed Jecht was as serious as stone and as deadly as wookie. There were no better fighters in the Royal Guard, not that any of them would admit it. Jecht was a powerful being, and like most powerful he had a great secret: He could use the force.

That is what had made him such a great thief during his pirate days. He had learn to use his natural force powers to make valuables float out of their containers, to disable security cameras, and to make locks explode. His knowledge was minimal, but enough for him to accomplish more then any other thief in the last thousand years. When he landed on Onderon he had stopped using his powers for the most part and only used them during emergencies. Why? Well, he didn't want to give the people of Iziz a reason for kicking him out of their city. He quite liked it there.

To say the other Royal Guards despised him would be an understatement. They hated him because of hit rapid promotional success and the fact that he was so laid back about a position that was so important to them. Jecht's superiors had no problem with him, it was only the guards of lesser or equal rank that despised him. Perhaps another reason for their hate was because they knew that Jecht was far better then all of them combined. Jecht's combat skills were evident since he first joined the military and was one of the prime reasons for his many promotions. He life as a thief had taught him how to use a knife, his life as a pirate had taught him how to use a sword, his position within the Beast Riders taught him how to use a spear, and the numerous positions afterwards had helped him develop those skills into legendary proportions. He used laser weapons, but not often enough to become any good with them. He preferred primitive weaponry to all that high tech fiddle-faddle that was floating around in the galaxy today. The people on Onderon for the most part only used primitive weapons as well. Only the higher ranks of the military used energy weapons, and even then it was not used much. Why all that was Jecht could not guess, and he decided to leave it as it was.

Jecht carried two swords with him at all times. One of the blades he had stolen from a weapon's merchant and instead of selling it he used it as his personal weapon instead. The second blade had been a gift from his old Beast Rider commander, Tu'tracka. Both blades were curved but very different in design. The first blade had a smooth edge and a intricate design along the side of the blade. The second one had a serrated edge and was quite plain. Both were masterfully made weapons that had never failed Jecht and were still sharp after their years of use. The metal used was never identified, and Jecht could care less. The fact that they worked was more then enough for him.

With those blades he literaly carved his way to success. Any assassin or thief that tried to sneak into the palace found themselves facing the business end of Jecht's two blades. Because of the reputation he gained with his two blades Jecht was nicknamed Twinblade by his fellow Soldiers.

After that point Jecht's life becomes very plain and uneventful. His rise on the promotion tree is stumped and there seems to be no shortage of boredom. The boredom for the most part is what led to his joking mannerism when it came to everything. He just wanted to have fun when he could but when the action broke out there was not a more serious person on the entirety of the planet.
