Walking down a dim, torch lit hallway, with a pouch in one hand and a 7 ½ inch silver cylinder in the other, Tarsis made his way towards the Sith Library. It was a dark evening, darker then any Tarsis had seen during his stay here on Korriban. But that was to be expected because for tonight was the night of the new moon, when all light from the sky was purged and darkness ruled in its stead.

Tonight was the night he would assemble his lightsabre. He had spent the last 2 months acquiring the pieces for the process and now, with the last piece in his right hand, it was time to put it all together.

Arriving in front of the Library’s great doors, Tarsis extended his hands out from underneath his cloak and pushed them open. Walking in slowly as a few aesthetics turned to see who had entered their domain; Tarsis turned and closed the massive doors behind him. Before Tarsis could notice anyone that he might know in the room he was greeted by an aesthetic. “Hello Acolyte Tarsis. How may we be of assistance?” Tarsis just grinned and nodded. “I’ll be requiring the books I…” But before he could finish, the aesthetic interrupted him. “You checked out last time. Yes. The books on creating Lightsabers. One moment please.” The aesthetic closed his eyes for a moment and then reopened them. “The books you have asked for will be brought to you within the hour. Please be seated and remain quiet during your studies.” Tarsis once again, nodded and said, “Thank you.” The aesthetic walked off and resumed his studies without another word. Telepaths… he thought as he felt the ripple in the Force smooth itself back out. I hate telepaths.

After seating himself, Tarsis waited and waited until finally a dark haired female aesthetic brought a hover cart over with several books on it. "Here are the books you requested. Please return them to the hover cart once you have finished." And with that, she walked off, returning to a table towards the entrance, picked up a pen, and began writing.

Finally... Tarsis thought to himself as he sat a brown pouch down on the table followed by the 7 1/2 silver cylinder. Opening the pouch, Tarsis spilled its contents and ran his hand over them, spreading them all out. At first glance one wouldn't have a clue what this stuff was, but upon closer inspection, if you knew what you were looking for that is, one would realize that these were the key pieces to building a Lightsabre.

Grabbing the top book off the cart, Tarsis flipped it open and scanned it page by page until he came across a page detailing everything one would need to build a basic lightsabre:

- Handgrip
- Activation stud plate
- Safety switch
- Emitter matrix
- Lens assembly (focusing crystal)
- Power cell
- Power conduit
- Recharge socket

Reading over it all and then checking his materials, Tarsis smiled a smile of satisfaction and then closed the book. Placing it on the table to his right, he reached over to the cart and pulled off another one. Repeating the process of scanning the book for what it was he was looking for, he finally stopped and began reading again...

Hours had passed as Tarsis read over several ways to put together a lightsaber, but most notably was the Jedi's way of binding the components of a lightsaber together at a molecular or lower level, which enabled the closed loop design to operate with near-perfect efficiency. Although this was a Jedi technique, Tarsis could not help but agree with the teaching. If one was to compose a master piece, he has to give himself completely to his work, just as a Acolyte of the Order much give himself over to the teachings of the Darkside to further his skill and knowledge of the art. “If I’m going to make one of these, then I want it to not only work properly, but to work on the same level as I am.” He said to himself as he paused from his reading for a moment.

All are intertwined: the crystal, the blade, the Jedi. You are one…

Tarsis must have read over that passage a dozen times not because he didn’t understand it, on the contrary, he understood it implicitly, but to make sure this is what he wanted. He didn’t see anything wrong with building his lightsaber this way. Not only did it allow him to focus in on his Force abilities by using it in such a way, it also would give his lightsaber sentimental value due to its manner of constuction.

The more he thought about using such a teaching, especially those of the Jedi made him feel as if he was betraying the Order, but it also made him feel unique because to Tarsis, he was combining two great teachings to creat one exceptional weapon. These were all things he would have to think on, but for now he would continue to read and learn more so that when the time came to use what he has learned, it will not have all be in vain.
