It is 3 AM where I am at. I have been up since 7 AM. Yes, 20 hours. On an incredibly busy day as well. Yet here I am, wide-awake. I have drinken two cans of the mountain dew stuff, AMP. And it works pretty good. Now, I've had terrible experiences with RockStar. I was wondering what sort of experiences other people have had with the various energy drinks and/or methods to stay away for that last minute paper/cram session.

I don't bother doing the whole insomniac cramming session. It's better to get a good nights sleep than spend the whole night panicking. Plus, the amount of information you actually retain is minimal, as the majority of it never gets passed your short-term memory into the long-term store.

That being said, the only energy drink I've ever had is Red Bull and cheap-substitutes thereof, usually combined with vodka :) I've never really noticed any effect from drinking it. I suppose that could the alcohol cancelling out the caffeine, though.

'Energy' drinks are crap and a waste of money, plus taste god awful to boot. And frankly, your wasting your time cramming like that as Gabriel stated. Your simply going to be feeling like crap tomorrow.

The only energy drink worth the money you pay is KMX. It's awesome, and tastes like orange pixie sticks.

I used to do Stackers and KMX at the same time, but sadly KMX is getting harder to find around here. Stackers work well enough on their own for me, but every now and then I miss the giddy, lightheaded rush I get when combining it with KMX.

I work nights though, so there you have it.

I've never done it and never will.

As to energy drinks: three teaspoons of Source of Life mixed with a glass of orange juice in the morning. It will keep you running all day. It's not really an energy drink, though, it's just a concentrated, liquid dose of everything your body needs for the day.

"Energy drinks" are a temporary, non-natural solution.

Which is why people drink them; to get a quick fix or a buzz, and then have to drink more.

The only energy drinks I like are Rockstar and Full Thorttle. But since I drink 2+ litres of coke a day, and occassionally (when I was working) 3-4 large cappuccinos, I try to stay away from having one unless I really need the "wake-up" hit of caffiene from it.

2+ litres of coke? Mandi, do I have to drive down there and smack you upside the head!?!

You must be doing some thirsty work, Mandy :eek I generally only have a drink when I'm eating, and even then it's just a glass or two of water. We just don't buy Coke or whatever anymore, unless we need something to mix with spirits. I'm sure they must put something in fizzy drinks to make you more thirsty, because that's the only affect they have on me.

RockStar is the devils urine. It has waay to much vitamin B. Which helps grow hair.

Caffeine dehydrates you.

That it does, bleh. -_-

I use to be a Dew-aholic. I've cut back now, but just replaced it with that Vault stuff.

It's what gets me through my Aero and Cinema classes and Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I walk to work every day and usually have a lucozade when I get in. It started as a one off thing, and now I struggle to work until Ive had one....

Mosters or Full Throttles for me. It's like a nightmare if I go more than a few days without one.

My favorite is Sobe Adrenaline - got me from Oklahoma to Oregon in 48 hours with only a few hours of sleep while my brother was driving. I think I drank like 6 or 8 [above the reccomended dose!]. I was drinking a RedBull a day at work to keep me awake at my desk, but I only did that for two weeks before I stopped and trained my body to live without it.

They're really not all that great for you if you drink them regularly, but every once in a while for a pick-me-up - they work really good for me. I usually drink some Coke every day, but not always. Now that hockey season is over there will be less buying of the refreshments at the games, so that will cut back too. :)

I've cut down a lot lately,I usually drink one of those one litre bottles of coke a day - it lasts me most of the day, so it's not like I'm drinking it all at once. ^_^; But if I don't have caffiene, I get really cranky.

Get some caffine patches, and drink water to go with it.

The only energy drinks I've had lately are Arizona Green Tea and Vault. The Green Tea helped me stay awake for four more hours during an overnight LAN party.

It's all about orange juice. Natural sugar that will totally keep you awake and ready. On top of that, it has a great flavor!

Rockstar is the only thing that works for me. Sure, it tastes lousy, but a 4-pack, warm or cold, gets me through a convention.
