View Full Version : Drop something?
Jacen

Two hours ago
"What about tonight? Surely there must be something going on tonight?" Jacen asked Dromad, his Twi'lek employer. "I've been without a job in over a month. I know I'm not the best there is, but I am one of them. There's got to be something to do."
"Look kid. As much as I'd like to help you, I can't. Business is just to slow. Nobody is hiring," Dromad said as he leaned back in his chair, letting one of his many female servants rub his shoulder blades. "You are good and if anythign came down you'd be one of the first ones I call, but no one is wanting anyone killed right now."
"Oh please. There is a galaxy crumbling around us and you expect me to believe that?"
"Ok you want the truth kid? The truth is that no one from the Rebellion wants to hire smugglers or thieves or assassins because they want to prove that they have some kind of honor thing going on and the Empire won't because they have thier own. People that would make you look like last year's holiday left over's."
"Oh come on. You know that any one of the top people in this place could outdo almost any one of them."
"That's my opinion, but not one shared by the people that count. Now look, I'm real busy so do you mind?" Dromad asked as he motioned towards the door.
"Yeah...," Jacen said as he got up and looked once more at the group of females in the room. He turned and walked towards the door. "...real busy."
Present
Jacen sighed as he walked down a street of Coronet. He was one of the best thieves on all of Corellia and truth be known one of the best in the galaxy, but Dromad was right. No one wanted to hire him or anyone from the Far Reaches, a small orginazation of closely knitted friends who all happened to be top notched thieves, assassins, and smugglers. Everyone had thier own people and didn't want to pay the kind fo money that bought thier services. Any of the aristocrats that usually paid them weren't interested either. With the galaxy in a state of turmoil, why pay money for soemthing that a few well chosen words could do just as well at this point.
The young boy pushed through a group of people coming out of a store the he fancied, and also one that one would not go to unless one had the money to spend. He bumped into one of the people and turned to yell at them. "Hey why not watch were you're going next time pal!"
He turned around and took a couple more steps before raising his hand and seeing what prize he had just claimed. It was a small purse used for carrying credchits and the likes. He shuffled through it and a slight smile came to his face.
A thousand three hundred credits. Not much considering his ususal day's work, but to think that he still had the touch did bring a smile to his face. Now...where to spend it all?

A hand with long slender fingers stopped Jacen in his tracks. Feminine fingernails dug deep within his shoulder as an equally feminine voice purred behind him.
“Tsk, Tsk, boy. Pulling something like that could get you in a load of trouble...”
Spinning him around, Danni’s brilliant jade eyes met his own at an almost equal height. A fast flick of her wrist and she held the small purse in her own hand. She counted the purse silently then frowned, not that much for a pick pocket. Just as quickly as she had taken it, she gave it back. Dropping it into the hands of the young man in front of her, she eyed him skeptically; he was young and talented but if he could serve the purpose she was sent to give him, Danni really didn’t know.
But, she was already jumping to conclusions! She didn’t know if the boy would even take the job, although there was very little doubt that he wouldn’t. Hopefully everything would go as planned, if the young man’s reputation was true than this mission was as good as done. A smirk spread across Danni’s smooth-featured face, this boy was quite the specimen.
“...but trouble isn’t always a bad thing…I know from experience.”
The smirk widened as a look of confusion hit the boys’ face. She loved to toy with her prey, not always the smartest thing to do on her part but old habits die hard. In her own assassin years, she had been caught and punished but lucky for this young man, there was no punishment. Stepping back, Danni took in his appearance, he was smart; he wore loose clothing; it always made hiding things easier. Danni herself wore a black pair of baggy cargo pants with a white sleeveless shirt, cut low down the spine; tattooed black dueling dragons stuck out on her exposed back. Her boots concealed perfectly the thin sharpened stilettos that threatened anyone who got too close or too ‘friendly’.
Danni sighed. Tossing a few strands of bright blonde hair out of her eyes, she eventually grinned. If she had heard the Twi’lek, Dromad, correctly a couple of hours ago this boy had quite the skills, maybe some close to her own.
“It’s Jacen…right?”

He stared at her long and hard and was almost tempted to probe her with the Force, but decided against it. It was the Force that landed him in this and there was no need to go and make things any worse.
"Who are you?"

Folding her arms over her chest, Danni chuckled darkly.
“I could be a friend or I could be an enemy. Does it really matter though? There are no sides, just a different point of view from everything.”
Karl Valten, one of her many superiors, had given Danni a very detailed background on his boy; but she hadn’t expected anything less from the Empire. She had found it quite amusing that Jacen had already had an encounter with the Inquisitoriate; although she was quite surprised that he was still alive.
But the past really didn’t interest her; it was more of the mission at hand. Sending a Force-user to do the Inquisitoriate’s dirty work would be a handful. Adding his reputation into the mix almost made him a prime package. But, Danni personally didn’t like the Force or the Force-users; they relied too much on an invisible thing that hardly seemed rational. Danni wasn’t a fool either not to believe in the Force, she had seen its power both from the Light side and Dark side; it was just seemed so weak to rely on something so much for power.
She let out another low chuckle; it seemed to stick in the air around Jacen.
“Can’t you just ream my mind if you wanted to know my name, little Force-user? I’m sure you could find out a lot about me that way.”

"I could, but maybe I'd rather it from your mouth? I might be a little rusty," he said as he eyed her more closely. While he was surprised to hear her admit she knew about his Force heritage, Jacen was determined to keep as calm about it as he could. Prehaps he could convince her that she were mistaken if he played his cards right.
Or if that didn't work, he did always have an option to try and surprised her and attack or run. She couldn't be that good. Could she?

A wicked grin tugged the corners of her lips as she narrowed her eyes at him. Jacen was a smart little bugger. . .how droll. Danni mentally rolled her eyes at the boy, honestly she didn’t really care for him, and apparently he returned the favor. Soon the boy would show her respect, if not willingly she would make him.
“You see Jacen, do names really matter in this game you call a life?”
She was delaying, but making the boy think about the not so wonderful world was all too amusing. Explaining this black hole of a galaxy was too much fun on her part, toying with her prey was also thrilling for her; though most people would find that cruel and dishonorable.
“I mean, what good is a name when you’re not supposed to exist?”
Danni knew that this would most likely not make since to Jacen, after all he would only understand half of the life she had left behind, when she was taken into the Inquisitoriate. Her grin only turned into a deadly low cackle.
“Let’s just say, I don’t have a name.”

"Isn't that funny. I know all about not exsisting. It was something I was trying to do for awhile now, but the funny thing is it didn't work out. But I still have a name. Everyone does," he said with a grimace. She was toying with him and he didn't like it. They had already taken his family from him. What more could they take?
"Let's just cut to the chase. It isn't coincidence you just happening to see me here. What else could you possibly want?"

“You see, it’s not what I want per say. . .it’s what my bosses want with you.”
Danni plastered a smirk onto her face as she closed the gap between Jacen and her. It would be a simple game of cat and mouse; she took notice that Jacen didn’t visible tense at the instant closeness. She whisked fallen blonde strands of hair from her low ponytail out of her face as she took a step around him. She leaned into him slightly, her lips almost brushing the shell of his ear.
“Listen good boy, I don’t care about you or what my superiors want with you but I have an assignment and it must be upheld. Personally, I rather just kill you and if I had a choice in this matter I would.”
Her words were ice, slicing through the air like cold glass razors. Her emerald eyes’ sang a death song of their own; if only he was able to she her face he would have known the danger he was in.
“And trust me Jacen, if I did kill you. . .you would burn in the deepest pits of hell. . .with the rest of your family.”

Jacen's fist was clenched so tightly that blood started dripping from the sides.
"If you have any business here I suggest you state it and leave right now if you want to have the choice of leaving at all," he said throughgritted teeth.

Dhamon had been carefully listening to their conversation. He gathered that one of them were a Jedi. This was the young boy. The other patron was not a Jedi, but was sent to retrieve the Jedi. Now it was his turn.
Dhamon cocked his guns, the click echoing in the ally way. Then he stepped out of the shadows. He had a gun pointed at each person.
"All I want you to do is empty your pockets. Don't try any Jedi mind tricks, or I'll blow your brains through the back of your head. Now empty them."
Dhamon took a chance. He put one of his guns down and tossed a bag on the floor. Then he pulled the gun out again, and nodded to the bag.

Danni turned her attention to the newly arrive ‘bandit’ and in doing so glared icy daggers at him. She had been in a good mood up until now; the Coronet citizens sure knew how to make a person feel at home.
“Congratulations to you, you just made my day.” She hissed sarcastically. “but sadly, I really don’t have anything of value for you right now”
She took a stride toward Dhamon ready to kill him if he decided to threaten them even more. Her tone dropped menacingly.
“Even if I did I wouldn’t give it to you but for all I care you can check my friend here. . .” She gestured toward Jacen. “I’m sure he’ll have something for you.”
Her hands were already itching toward the blades in her knee-high boots.

Dhamon stared into the cold eyes of the woman. A grin began to creep across his face. He pushed the gun closer to her, and moved the laser to her forehead.
"I advise you to stop moving. I'm not that stupid. What ever you have in those boots will stay in those boots. As for you."
Dhamon took a quick glance at the boy.
"Don't try anything either. I will not hesitate to kill you. Now again, empty your pockets."
Dhamon waited for them to comply. Never taking his glance off either of them.

Jacen shook his head. "I pity you really. If this is the only way to get money then here take it."
Jacen threw over the bag he had swiped earlier. "I doubt there is much in there, but I'll let you off with a warning if you take it. "I don't know who you are, but you can't be stupid enough to not know who I am. Especially if you are in the crime ring."

She snickered dementedly while shaking her head in amusement of the whole situation. The gun to her head didn’t scare her; she had been through too much to be frightened by such a pointless act. Her shoulders shook with crazed laughter as she crossed her arms over her chest.
“Can you be anymore hopeless?” She asked in between low chuckles. “I know you wouldn’t be stupid enough to shoot one of those guns inside city limits. The CoroNet officials would be over you in a heart beat.”
She emphasized her point with the roll of her eyes.
“Plus I don’t think you want to draw anymore attention to yourself than you already have.”

Dhamon grabbed the bag. He checked it to make sure. After a minete or two he slung the bag over his sholder.
"Listen I don't do this for the hell of it, and I'm in no crime ring. I just need this for an operstion of sorts. Now please, don't bring the authorities in this. I really don't want to do this anymore. Don't take this the wrong way."
Dhamon used the butt of his gun to slug the girl in the face. He then turned to the boy, and shot his kneecap. dhamon took off into the allyway, he came from.
