Everyone gets that wild hair up their rearend at some point, and last week I got just that.
Hopping on out to the local Walmart (and somehow retaining my sanity at the same time), I walked out with a bottle of fun.
This was the result:

<img src=http://s93860457.onlinehome.us/red/red2.jpg>
<img src=http://s93860457.onlinehome.us/red/red3.jpg>
I even did the completely nerdy recreation of Una's hairstyle!

Dork alert:

And just for reference, this is what my hair used to look like - albeit a tad shorter:

thanks :)
And don't listen to Charley. He did not. In fact, he didn't say anything until his mother did.

I like red hair, but it fades so fast it's almost not worth the trouble of dying it. What kind did you buy? That's alot brighter than most of the ones I've seen at Walmart

It was all a bit overwhelming. She had a new outfit on and everything, and she was very pretty. :)

I used Loreal Color Pulse. ALOT of it. I wasn't really looking for the dye to last too horribly long, and it washes out in 8-10 washes, so it works for me :)

When I went red for a while, I had to use dye with 20% peroxide in it. That kept it pretty bright. That and using the brightest dye I could find to begin with, so that even when it did start to fade - inevitably, after a wash or two - it was still really bright. I found that you just get an initial noticeable fade, then after that it slows down a lot.

Looks good. :]
I color mine red too (well, I have someone else do it) and it fades pretty quick on me, the only way to avoid it is for the stylist to use Alias-red which I allowed once and then decided I better not do that again.

You can keep your color from fading as fast if you use certain kinds of shampoo - clarifying shampoo strips out the color faster, I think. I dyed my hair at home and eventually spent $100 getting my color fixed. :x Won't be dying it myself again anytime soon.

I use Pantene Red Expressions shampoo and conditioner already, so who knows - it just might hold in the red for a little longer than normal.
Now, here's another question. I also bought some black dye of the same brand; should I put black streaks in?

Black will not wash out, no matter what the box says.
So keep that in mind.
Like Mandy, I had to spend over $100 getting my hair stripped and dyed back to brown after a Thanksgiving experiment with 'washout' black dye. :)
It was cool, but it made me look very goth, and then a drunken attempt for bleached blond streaks in front left me with the worst hair ever. :p

:lol
Oh how I wish I could've seen the drunken bleaching shenanigans.
Maybe I won't do black. If it doesn't wash out, I'd rather not deal with it.

Black is the ONLY color I haven't dyed my hair ^_^; I liked my bright pink hair the best though.
I had three different colors all in at once - bleached ends, light brown and darker brown roots :x I tried to dye brown over the blonde, but that apparently is impossible, since darker colors fade when you dye over lighter ones.
I was thinking of maybe putting in highlights or lowlights, but I don't know.

I would just say that whatever you do, consult a hairdresser first. Even if you don't get them to do if for you, they are going to know what will and will not work. That way you can avoid turning your hair green or pink ^_^; ... unintentionally.

I had green hair too ^_^; Unintentionally. I tried to dye it blue and my hair wasn't light enough, lol.

looooooooooooooong ago... I use to put blond highlights in my hair...
then on a whim I chopped it into a bob and went plantinum blonde...
then people thought I married into my own family... that was annoying.
since then I've gone a darker brown now and then, sometimes I put wacky blue sticky gel in it, and once I put a dark purple... I've got a box of black at home, just waiting for when I have the time.

Red hair is fun.

I dyed it black once, when it was down to my waist, but I don't have any scanned photos of that. Just as well... I was extremely sickly and looked like the very visage of Death itself. :p

You should dye the tips of your hair blue too, Mark. And then in the back you can take a razor and shave the hair back their off in the shape of the number of your car.
The ladies will love it ;)

Once upon a time, I got caramel colored tips to accent my extremley dark brown hair. I got a lot of good comments.

And if it was the number 3, I'd fit in perfectly in Alabama
