Anyone here played Elder Scrolls: Oblivion? Its getting rave reviews, and in various internet communities people are going nuts about it, saying its the best ever RPG game. Apparently an early hot runner for game of the year.

Or maybe those playing it are too busy to play it to post here.. :p

(I would have SO been on that game, had it not been for the monster system requirements)

I don't know about "Best RPG ever", but it's certainly sucking my time away.

There certainly are some gripes with the leveling system, but the excellently written quests and huge gameworld keep me too busy to notice. :p

Very fun, and yes, it's addicting. I don't play many video games, but I could play Oblivion for hours and hours. ^_^;

My brother played through for 52 hours, then hit a huge clitch and had to restart - it's one of the Daedra statue quests. I'm still at level 4 :lol

Supposedly this is a major glitch; there's a sound file that needs to load, and it can't. It froze his game each time he tried to complete the quest, and his game wouldn't start after that. He read about more people losing their games because of it on the official forum. I have no real clue WHY it would glitch so badly, so *shrug*

You could probably hack a dummy sound file in and that would solve it.

Want it, but don't have it - only because I'm not sure if it'll run on my comp. I'll be testing it out come mid April.

It looks awefully good, I just don't have the time to play it right now. If I wasn't absorbed by WoW, I would have picked it up.

I'll pick it up when I get a new computer this summer.

If you can still find it, the Collector's Edition packaging is really, really nice. It looks similar to the LOTR Extended Edition DVDs and comes with a 122 page Pocket Guide to the Empire, an authentic replica Septim (the currency in the game), a fold out map, and an extra DVD with bonus features.

Just so everyone is aware, I'm playing the 360 version, but I mentioned what you guys said about the glitch to my brother.

Yes, the Collectors' Edition = swanky. It is like the LOTR dvds, actually o_O

I'm going to give this a shot soon, though I'm not sure if my PC will be able to handle it. No harm in trying though.

Oblivion is ridiculously fun. I'm having fun being a totally cheap bastard, shooting people in the butt from the shadows and pilfering like mad.

I can actually play this on my new laptop. I guess that's my spare time down the drain.

We have this for the 360, and ...I'm ashamed to say I died in the tutorial and haven't picked it back up yet. I mean, three hours down the drain only to die in the first part of it!? Ok most of those 3 hours was creating my character. ^_^;

My hubby loves it. He's always accidentally stealing stuff and getting thrown in jail, however.

I got an Xbox 360 and Oblivion (collectors edition) a few weeks ago and have been playing it several hours a day. It's totaly awesome. I love it. It's been very difficult to play it as anything other then a hack'n'slash fighter-type character- as I always have been when playing games like this. I broke out of the norm and created A Kehjit (sp) Assassin. In truth I'm a better thief then assassin, but that doesn't stop me from stalking people and stabbing them in the back, or, as Sanis put it: "Shooting them in the butt and pilfering like mad".

Currently I'm at level 8, but I have several levels under my belt that I just need to stop and sleep in order to gain. I'm a member of both the Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves Guild, but the Dark Brotherhood is more fun by far. Right now I'm doing all those little quests I'm racked, mostly in the beginning of the game, and found too dull to be worth my time.

It'd give it two thumbs up if I wasn't so busy using those thumbs to play Oblivion.

Yeah, heck of a game.

I beat it as a thief in May and then as a fighter in July and I loved every single step of the way. Really good game, though had some tough glitches on PC. I lost a mage character lvl 31 to a glitch, so that was tough.

Definitely an A+ Title. Coure, I was a huge Morrowind fan. :)

How can you handle playing so man characters? I have two, my Kehjitt(sp) Assassin and a Dark Elf Mage, whom I seldom use, and I find it incredibly annoying to do the same quests more then once with different characters. I can't see how you can stand doing it several times through.

I only have two more ranks to go up in the Thieves Guild, the Dark Brotherhood, and I'm somewhere near the completion of the Arena. I am seriously considering joining every Guild with one character so I can unlock all the achievements with only a single character. I only have the fighters Guild and the Mages Guild left. Can't be that hard to do those missions with my Assassin char, can it?

I don't know - persistence + obssession, I guess! :D

Well, you can pretty much accomplish any mission with any kind of character - playing to the strengths. It's just strategy and your angle of approach. And tons and tons of saves. :)

The tricky thing about making one character achieve everything is, you level up your minor attributes and skills so slowly. It takes a really long time to get your minor skills to be half of your major skills. You'd have to take a lot-a-lot of time to master them. You can probably beat the quests, though.

I got bored with my Assassin, playing as her way too much. So I started an Orc Warrior-style tank character. I never realized how strong a Orc(warrior) can be until I started upgrading my unarmed combat and started taking down people in full armor in a couple swings. Also: Making custom character classes is fun!

This is a really fun game! I have it for PC. Normaly play it at lease 2 hours a day, when I'm not at school, spending time with Natia, eating, or sleeping. Normaly it is the sleeping that suffers that lets me play this. I have a lot of fun with my Argonian Marksman/Mage/Thief.

Only level 4 but I have Master Sneek. Accualy I had master Sneek before the Emperor was killed. :)

If you want to know how I did it, well, your sneek level goes up as long as you are sneeking near a person that can not see you. The goblin in the caves where they are trying to teach you how to sneek attack. He will stay in one spot for as long as you want him to. I set myself up so that I was in a spot where i was close to the goblin, out of sight, and beside a wall. I then set myself to sneek, and started to sneek into the wall. I stayed in that one spot sneeking for a few hours, with a weight on the strafe key that was moving me into the wall, and that made me a master at sneek. well, in the time I was raising my sneek, I had time to wash my dad's truck, take the empty cans to the depot, and watch 4 epsodes of Monty Python's Flying Circus. :)

You dirty little boy you :), nice way to do it, though. I'm almost a master of sneak without using some new fangled tricks to do it :)

I'm now at level 21 or 22, I can't remember which. I've finished all the Dark Brotherhood missions and currently I'm attempting the last Thieves Guild mission. I'm trying to upgrade my Alchemy because it's one of the main skills that come with the "Assassin" class and makes me wish I had costomized my class.

Anyone who really enjoyed the Dark Brotherhood storyline might want to check this out:

www.thedarkbrotherhood.com

It's a mod with the aim of expanding the DB storyline by adding tons more quests for it.
