Those of you who know me will be familiar with the bane of my existence that is my step-father. He came on the computer this afternoon for half an hour and managed to riddle the PC with god knows what... spyware, adware, the usual rubbish. How? The firewall wasn't working, because the trial had run out (what? nonsense), so what did he do? He went to a crack site to find a serial number. A crack site, while we had no firewall running. GENIUS.

So now I am left to clean up the mess. ARRRRGH. :mad

Why are you running anything besides the regular built in XP firewall? Software solutions are garbage. :mad

We have ZoneAlarm. We only have it because someone here has recommended it to me at some point. :huh

Yeah, ZoneAlarm was probably a good recommendation at the time. But there's not much point to using anything other than the built in Windows firewall that came with SP2 now.
