For those who might watch, keep your eyes peeled for the X3 trailer during the second hour of 24 tonight. Glad they decided to post it during my favorite show :) Unlike ROTS with the OC.

I take it this trailer is different from the one we've already seen in theatres and online?

Yes and it is here. I saw it during 24 it was a great trailer.

Dare I say it, even without Bryan Singer onboard?

Whoops not sure how I forgot the link, must have been tired when I did it heh. Thanks Droo :) Yeah the movie looks great, dark but fitting with the Dark Phoenix storyline. One interesting thing to note Bill Duke who was shown in the trailer is playing the notorious Bolivar Trask, creator of the Senientles. Though I am not sure if they will be in it or maybe he will play some role in a future X-Men movie.

The reason why this trailer changed my opinion of this film from doubt to favour is because despite all the special effects and explosions, what gripped me and chilled me most, was the drama and tension with the characters. Then I realised that perhaps the foundations for this finale, setup by the first two films, are too strong to let the trilogy fall flat and now I'm really really really excited about seeing this film.

Jedi Master Carr
Mar 7th, 2006, 09:21:26 AM
I agree there that build up from the previous two films really sets up a great movie. A couple of thoughts, it looks like Storm is finally going to fly and show off her powers, I loved the moment when Angel was flying that was really cool, I like it that Iceman, Shadowcat and Colossus are getting a lot more screentime and will be fighting during the end sequence, and then there is Juggernaut the one moment where he is running through walls looks very cool.

Wow...incredible! I was going to see this regardless but I'm not psyched for it!

A few non spoiler comments and then further discussion below.

I loved the marching of the Brotherhood with Magneto at the front and Jean next to him, great visuals and then when you finally see the X-Men lined up with Colossus on the end!!

Beast rules!!

Angel looks great!

Rogue....what exactly are they going to do with her? In the comics she has super strength, etc but in the Movies she almost no good in what appears to be a huge battle unless she can sneak up and touch someone.

I wanna see Iceman Ice Up!

Ok for some further thoughts and discussions, now bear in mind I haven't gone out and found any actual spoilers, these are just my own personal thoughts

I am now firmly convinced they will kill Cyclops in this one :(

Which really bites because he is by far my favorite X-Man but he has been butchered in this whole trilogy so its not unexpected. As long as they give him some great moments and let him go out with a bang I will be happy.

Obviously Jean doesn't die in this one as you see her at the Funeral which really kind of gives away where this whole thing will go, would she be sane and at a funeral if she wasn't reverted back? Unless the funeral is more a mid point and possibly what sends her to being the phoenix? I need to watch the trailera few more times and see if Cyclops is in the lineup for the apparent big battle.

Now the bald kid, no clue who he could be but he will apparently play a big role in the struggle.

Ok thats it for now, or at least until I watch it a few more times :)

****EDIT**** - Thank you whoever fixed that!

TheHolo.Net

The bald kid is most likely Leech, or at least based on him. Leech was a morlock kid who had the mutant ability to supress mutant powers in a small area around himself. I don't think he could control it very well either.

Jedi Master Carr
Mar 7th, 2006, 12:02:57 PM
yeah that is Leech. You sure Jean is at the Funeral? i didn't think I saw her. I agree I think Cyke dies though, the Phoenix must consume him. Now I guess they could bring him back in a future film. Maybe the Phoneix can bring him back or have Sinister clone him or something. I am not sure about Rogue either, unless she gets somekind of powers in this one

Rogue's got a bit of a complicated story arc that I don't see how they could work it in and still make it flow with the rest of what's happening. They'd first have to introduce Ms. Marvel, then either make her bad, which would tick people off, or make Rogue turn down a dark path where she would willingly hold on to Marvel to permanently absorb the super strength.
Since we haven't seen any hint of them setting that up, who knows if and when we'll ever see the full Rogue story.

Well they could do something different too, I wouldn't introduce Ms Marvel she is way too hard to explain.

Is this for sure the last X-men movie, or just the conclusion of this trilogy leaving the possibility open for perhaps another trilogy?

Jedi Master Carr
Mar 7th, 2006, 12:47:39 PM
I think its the conclusion of this trilogy leaving open a possibility of more. I figure that if they do more the next villain and storyline they will tackle is Apoclypse and maybe throw in the senitles with him.

JMK

They supposedly have Wolverine movies planned after this movie, so who knows what will happen.

jjwr
Mar 7th, 2006, 04:03:35 PM
I would like them to do Wolverine in his own movies and carry on the Franchise without him. He isn't necessary for it to do well.

Watching the trailer again, Cyclops is the body laying by the Lake after you see him blasting and then the red surge out of the water. This is also shown right before the scene with Cyclops glasses being floated to Wolverine.

jjwr
Mar 7th, 2006, 04:06:28 PM
There is a woman at the end of the row shown at the Funeral but I can't tell if its Jean.

One scene at the very end shows Wolverine being consoled by Storm with an empty Wheel Chair next to them.

So we have it then: Iceman vs. Pyro.

We catch a glimpse of this scene in a TV spot and I must admit, it appears quite uninspired. Check out the article at SHH:

I'm not asking for the best parts. What I expect is the same with any art, it has to have an attractive aesthetic quality to it in how it is executed. I felt that brief glimpse of the scene fell flat and failed to inspire.

I was one of the guys looking forward to Iceman vs. Pyro if it were to happen and the purpose of a TV spot is to sell it to me, I wasn't buying. Fingers crossed it will be better than it appears.

And besides, I didn't say it looked bad. I said it felt uninspired, and I think I've every right to feel uninspired by two mutants throwing icey mist and jets of fire at each other in a street.

I saw that 7 minute preview the other day and all I could think of was; "When did Lucas start writing dialogue for X-Men movies?" I'm waiting for the DVD on this one. It looks like there are going to be some pretty sweet action sequences, and I like the bit about Angel, but the rest looked pretty weak. The dialogue and the way most of it was delivered was underwhelming. I think Ratner is going to drive this thing into the ground.

Jedi Master Carr

I don't think so. I actually liked the dialouge it is no different than the other two films. I think Magneto's is awesome of course Mckellan can make any line of dialouge sound good.

My short review:

This was a great popcorn flick. As a stand alone film it's entertaining. But considering what has come before it, The Last Stand is a poor finale to the X-Men trilogy.

Edit: I've been re-reading the posts in this thread and reflected on my own expectations of this film, which frankly weren't that high, and to be perfectly honest, this film is dire. I'm not remotely pleased with how they concluded this trilogy.

Because the studio simply didn't have the balls to stick to the decisions it had made.

The characters are cured. Or are they? The character is dead. Or is he?

It's not the finale because:

1. X-Men has far more potential than three films.
2. Money. Money. Money.

Scott and Xaiver are dead. Jean Gray, who knows? But they aren't cured as seen by the last scene, although personally I thought at the time when Rogue said she was cured, I thought it would have been funny for the cure to not work and watch as Bobby gets hurt.

Earlier in the film, you will recall Charles lecturing the students about ethics and he spoke of a man without a consciousness. The last scene is at that man's bedside. He suddenly stirs and sits up. The woman caring for him is startled and he says: "Hello, Moira."

And I can't remember exactly because the nasty buggers at the cinema started closing the curtain just at this moment, causing the audience to roar with disapproval at the cinema's ignorance but I believe that Moira says simply:

"Charles?"

And the screen goes black.

omg. They should have made X3 longer. Now we have to wait 3 years. Rah.

Jedi Master Carr
May 26th, 2006, 01:41:55 PM
I saw it today. I give it a B+/B grade. If it had been 20-30 minutes longer I would consider an A. That was my greatest problem with the film, a lot of it felt rushed. And because of that several characters had a poor treatment in the movie, mainly Rouge, Angel and Colossus. Another 20-30 minutes could have helped those characters. Okay here are spoilers
The good
Magneto, He was awesome, especially McKellan he did a brilliant job in this one and some great scenes. The scene with the Golden Gate bridge was great. Some might not like it that he got cured but wasn't cured, more about that later, but I liked that especially since he saw the error of what he had done.
Storm, this was the best one Halle was in really. Finally she flew and used her full powers and also she had some better acting than the previous films. I liked her eulogy during Xavier's funeral it was very touching.
Wolverine of course I am a fan of him and he was great though he was great in all of the movies
Iceman, finally ices up I liked the pyro fight though it was too short.
I did like Beast and Shadowcat, Kitty's scenes were nice especially the one with Bobby.
Okay some things I didn't like.
Angel now he had almost no time in the film, this is where 30 more minutes would have helped and he could have trained and maybe done more in the final battle.
Rogue man was she wasted and she took the cure although, I don't blame her I guess.
Colossus vs Juggernaut now this should have happened why it didn't is beyond me. It was a funny scene watching Kitty run from him but Colossus should have fought him at least for a few minutes.

Of course I should add in Cyclops, they should have made it clearer he was dead and made it more emotional. Xavier didn't even seem to care when Logan said it, unless he already knew. It didn't bother me a lot though since I have never been a big Cyclops fan, but it does suck for those who are I am sure.

Now that is out of the way about the cure I think it doesn't work. I knew the Cure was either going to be a failure or a design of Sinister and/or Apoclypse. I think its a faliure. Magneto was able to move that chess piece at the end. I am guessing it is because of the way Leech's power works realize when Beast moved away he gained his power back. There was no guarentee that whatever was put in their blood wouldn't permeant. The mutant genes could fight back and destroy those they put it over time. So Mystique and Rogue will probably be getting their powers back too. Now you could argue that was lame but it doesn't surprise me the same with Xavier's return. X-Men comics is notorious about doing things like this like all the characters who have died and come back and that recent story line where Iceman lost his powers but got them back, so in a very ironic way it is fitting. Although, I can't think of anyway to bring back Scott and Jean unless Sinister shows up and clones them.

One more thing there will be more movies the way it ended it just sets up. This is the end of this trilogy. I think the next trilogy will be a combination of Apoclypse, Sinister, and the Days of Future Past story line.

Any self respecting fan of anything, let alone X-Men, will never claim that the epic Dark Phoenix Saga was covered in this film. What a travesty, Honestly? The less X-men in space the films cover the better. That was one of the reasons I couldn't stand the original versioin of the Phoenix Saga. It's so damned corny. I think what they did in the movie with it was brilliant.

I don't think the dialouge was as sharp as the first two films, but it's a good effort. It's the weakest of the 3, certainly. I approve of how they handled Kitty and who they cast for her.

Droo
May 26th, 2006, 04:26:01 PM
I couldn't agree with you more on the space thing. I've no problem whatsoever with how they created the Phoenix for the film. I'd have hated it having anything to do with some external force and am glad to see its origins rooted with realism. But the Phoenix should never have been a sub plot. What was promised at the end of X-Men United was not delivered, in my opinion. The cure alone is an excellent premise for the film, it didn't need convoluting with a subplot which has potential enough and deserving enough of its own film. I personally think they carelessly slapped in too many things from the X-Men mythos and then made false dramatic decisions: as I said, killing off characters without having the balls to stick to it, and the cure being curable.

I personally found no emotional resonance with this film except for one moment: when Mystique sacrifices herself for Magneto and he abandons her. I think all drama in this film came second place to set pieces and explosions. And I know something is terribly wrong when Ian McKellen delivers a FLAT line: His "What have I done?" line was cliché incarnate and delivered without any gravitas. And Sir Ian McKellen does not deliver flat lines. :verymad

With all of the negative buzz I was expecting a train wreck. The movie wasn't all that bad. Like many of you, I rank it well below the first two. It had its moments, but it just doesn't live up to the first two. I think a few of these loose ends may be covered or explored in the Wolverine movie. It'll be interesting to see how that movie develops and what story lines it explores.

Ok, good. So I wasn't the only one that felt it was rushed. Phew! ^_^;

Also, I dunno if I liked the script or not. Someone I know left the theater saying "$3 put towards the script. $100m in special effects. Just my combination." It was at that point I started trying to remember any lines from the script. Usually I can remember things... ya know, things that stand out. But I came to the realization my mind was a bit blank.

Don't get me wrong. I thought Storm's eulogy was stirring. I was a bit teary eyed. And some of the one-liners were quite clever or just predictable to the characters peronalities.

But aside from that, I honestly can remember anything that sticks out.

Maybe it's just me. :\

Watched it last night, full theatre and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

I liked it, but I do feel it was probably the 3rd best of the series. I really was hoping for more out of the finale, it seems like they tried to fit too much in.

The Beast - very well done and his acrobatics in battle were great. Wish we had seen more of him though.
Juggernaut - Loved the accent and lines
Magneto - Great as always, when he tore apart the Convoy I felt he was at his best. The Golden Gate bridge was great but why not just take a boat?
The Ending battle was good, considering how much was going on they were able to get in some good shots of each character and showed all the powers well.

Angel was wasted, why was he in the movie? They could have had the whole cure subplot withhout him as he didn't really add anything.

Colossus was cool for what we saw of him, I would have liked to see him go toe to toe with the Juggernaut at least for a bit.

I had no problems with Rogue, she was ok in the first one but after that didn't have much use as her powers don't exactly lead themselves to a action movie.

Re: The whole Phoenix storyline - it was a bit wasted but I'm not sure how much more they could have done with it.

As for Cyclops, he was always my favorite X-Man and you could tell from the get go that he would get shafted, he had a decent role in the 1st one but was basically written out of #2 and obviously hosed in #3. Obviously their focus was Wolverine which leaves a character like Cyclops out in the dark.

Oddly enough Wolverine has taken on a lot of Cyclops qualities, they tried to keep him seperate but it seems more like they merged the two characters than anything else.

I hope they do another, there are plenty of good X-Men and stories to encounter, the question is will they do one without Wolverine?

About the bridge a boat would be had with a couple hundred mutants, plus I think Magneto wanted to go in style heh, he is very much the show off. Yeah Cyclops got the shaft in X2, I think even if Singer had stayed on board he still would have been treated this way. I am not sure what was the deal with Angel I think they just put him in the movie just so they could. That is why I think it need to be longer, to expand on other characts.

Okay here is what I would like to see next. I would combine The Days of Future Past Storyline with that of Apocolypse. Make him the main villain, have Magneto help the X-men, I think his evil days are over after he saw what he had done with the Phoenix. I even have idea with Rogue I would have Sinister capture her and turn her into one of Apocolypse's horeman, that way we get a storyline for her. Maybe give her more powers as well that way. I am not sure if Halle will come back so either recast her or get rid of storm. If you get rid of Storm you have to bring in Emma Frost to replace her, need another female. I would also bring in Bishop to replace Beast. I would like to see Gambit but maybe have him work for Sinister first. I am not sure how to deal with Xavier having a new body. I guess we will see what happens next. I know they will do the Wolverine and Magneto movies they are making.

The Last Stand is without a doubt a deeply flawed movie, there's no disputing that. But I still enjoyed it. Personally, I would put it second, the last one was the best by far, but overall I thought this one was a little better than the first one.

There was some gunk in the movie that you can't deny...I do agree with the comments that there could have easily been another 20-30 minutes put into the movie that could have made the movie feel less rushed and put more sense and emotional resonance into it. What a change, usually people are complaining about movies being too long, but this is one case where short was not better.

Although I'd heard rumors about the Professor and Cyclops biting the dust, I wasn't sure how true those rumors were until today. I'd done my best to avoid spoilers up til now. Cyclops...ugh, if I were James Marsden, I'd sue someone's pants right off. Or burn them, or something. Poor guy, taken out of commission for half of the second movie, then in the third one for 5 minutes before being wasted by Jean, and God knows when anyone bothered to pick up his body. That was shoddily done. But Xavier's death was much better. I always go by the Spock rule on things like this...if the death is noble, heroic even, and makes sense in the telling of the story, it's okay by me. And so Xavier being vaporized by Jean fit that criteria, and while I was sad, I thought it was a decent death. That whole scene, with Jean levitating the house off its foundation, was one of the best in the movie.

Poor Famke Janssen, she's a pretty lady and a good actress, but she mostly stood around and looked threatening. But you don't want to make her angry, that's for sure. And Wolverine did what he had to do at the end, as Storm had challenged him about, but it was still shocking to see her go. The movie storylines really have diverged from the comics and the animated series at this point.

Seeing Mystique, Rogue, and Magneto "cured" was pretty disconcerting. I did like how Mystique turned the tables on Magneto though, that was fun :).

And even with the flaws, there was stuff I liked, like Wolverine (of course), Juggernaut, Angel (although yes, he was wasted as a character), Beast (Kelsey Grammer rocked :)), the action scenes, Magneto and the Golden Gate, the visual effects, stuff like that. So overall, a B+ from me, I liked it, warts and all.

Did everyone stay and see the scene after the credits? I did, and thought it was worth staying. Another hint that perhaps things weren't as final as they seemed.

We also got to see the newest Superman Returns trailer before the movie, oh boy! :)

Just saw it.

Phoenix was utterly wasted. No character at all there. So much more could have been done with her. In fact, the whole 'cure' storyline and the Phoenix one should have been entirely seperate.

The first half of the movie felt really rushed. Neither Cyclops's nor the Professor's death had very much impact.

I did like how they played up the friendship between Magneto and the Professor. It's a great dynamic.

Some of the characterizations were interesting, as well. We saw that the Professor has some very flexible morals, almost slipping into a Magneto-like "I did what had to be done" persona. Which is actually in line with the comics. And Magneto, who remarks on his time in a concentration camp, was the spitting image of Hitler for much of the movie.

I'm glad they didn't try to shoehorn in more than a passing reference to Sentinels, because the movie was already too crowded as it is.

Oh, and I really did not like the Cure Guns, for some reason.

I saw it Saturday afternoon... it was the weakest of the three in terms of character depth and development, but I pretty much expected it to be. Lets face it... Brett Ratner is an action film guy, and X3 reflected that. Had Bryan Singer stayed on to finish out the trilogy, I personally think that Jean Grey, Beast, Angel, and others would have been more fully rounded in their scope. But, that's just my take on it.

The Good : Wolverine, as usual. Hugh Jackman just makes the role his, even with less-than-stellar lines... Showing the backstory to Jean's youth, when she first met Xavier and Magneto, and showing how close Charles and Eric really were in the early days of the school... Beast was well-played by Kelsey Grammar, just wish he would have been given more to do... Nice effects, ie. Magneto tearing apart the Golden Gate Bridge, Jean Grey vaporizing people/objects with her mind... Mystique saving Magento from the "cure", then Magneto abandoning her was a nice little plot twist... Kitty and Juggernaut racing to recover Leech was fun...

The Bad: The Phoenix story started off great, it was well adapted to make it less cheesy than it was in the comics, but it was just allowed to die and fizzle once Jean "killed" Xavier. It had a lot of potential, but turned into little more than Jean standing around looking evil, then getting angry and destroying stuff at a whim... Beast using the "cure" on Magneto was a bad call, it should have been one of the others. That act just doesn't fit with Beast's character, IMO... Rogue was wasted, but she's been a wasted character since the second film, and I really didn't like that they made her more into "Bobby Drakes girlfriend" than an actual member of the team... I really wanted to see Juggernaut and Colossus go at each other, if only for a minute... for all of the mutants that either died or were "cured," the only ones whose big moments had any impact were Mystique and Xavier. The others were cheap or just badly written.

It was an okay film. Not great, not terrible. It didn't live up to the other two, IMO. The end of the second film set things up almost perfectly for the third film to really be spectacular, but it just didn't deliver as I had hoped it would.

The funny thing is I think Ratner did the best with what he had. The flaws in the film really aren't his fault. The guy got this film a year ago and to film it really fast. Its amazing he was able to make the film into just a fun, popcorn film. Of course this is Fox and Rothman's fault. I have heard stories. That Tom Rothman hates the X-men franchise. I have no idea, he could have kept Singer if he had started production on X3 6 months earlier. Really I hope Marvel takes the rights away and film the movies themselves like they are doing with Hulk 2 and Iron Man.

After you get over the initial shocks and "oh no they didn't" moments of the movie, the story is a bit flat.

For an action movie it is awesome. For an X-Men movie ... it could have been a lot better. I hate that everyone promoting it says "well this is the last one" because if you stay past the credits you KNOW they can do SO much more.

If they did do another movie they could introduce the Astral Plane, etc. Maybe. Or Apolcalypse and turn Angel into the ArchAngel, etc.

Really the foundation they started with was flawed - when you don't start with the original 5 X-men, the story has to change dramatically from the comics. I mean, Iceman wasn't an X-Man until this movie, Beast they allude to the fact that he was an X-man before, which is like putting a bandaid on the story problem, but it works (Kelsey Grammer was great as Beast and the fighting was awesome), and Angel was in this movie but... why?

Rogue can't do anything until she absorbs Marvel Girl, and she isn't really in the movie anyway except as a footnote. For the next movie, if they do one, I'd love to see Mystique get her powers back as it appears all the 'cured' mutants will, and then for her and Rogue to hook up and lead to Rogue getting Marvel Girl's powers and hopefully hooking up with Gambit. Every movie could use some Cajun flavor. Couple that with the other X-men traveling to the astral plane to bring Jean Grey back from the dead or something...

Plus, while we don't really expect a body to surface for Cyclops as the Phoenix turned her other victims into dust, they never really confirm he's dead. We just assume he is. Scott could be wandering around with his eyes shut or something. ;)

I really liked the movie, but on the other hand, it could have been much more. Damn you, Bryan Singer!!

I totally agree that the flaws of the film are not Ratner's fault. With the director juggle and then having such an incredibly tight schedule it's amazing that the movie is as good as it is.

I have to also express that I don't think this was Brett Ratner's fault at all. It was the studio's fault entirely. For goodness sake, they announced the release date before the bloody script was even finished. They raced to finish the script, then Ratner and his crew had to race to get the film done in time for that release date. Reason being is simply because I feel they wanted to beat Superman Returns and POTC2 to the cinema screens.

One thing I noticed immediately, was that this film was shot in the style of the previous two films. The feel and visual presentation of X-Men 3 was made to accomodate the style of it's predeccessors. I think Ratner is to thank for that, he is friends with Singer and he actually said something along the lines of that he appreciates that he is a latecomer to an already strongly established series and didn't want to deviate from what had been started.

I still think with more time to write and film and more time in the film, Ratner's X-Men 3 wouldn't have been quite on par with Singer's X-Men 3 but it wouldn't have been far off the mark.

Rutabaga

I also agree that the flaws in the movie were not Brett Ratner's fault. It's true that it was more of a straight action movie than the first 2 were, which was more his style, I think, but in the end, the flaws were in the script and the editing. If he'd had a script as strong as X2, it would have been a lot better.

Oops, yeah, maybe Scott's body wasn't found because there was no body to be found, but there had been the scene in the trailer where Storm found Scott's body, so I guess they changed their minds about having something tangible left behind to prove he was dead.

One little detail I did like about the movie was that there was heavy, heavy usage of all the mutants' real names, or "slave names," as Mystique called them. That was a nice touch.

I watched the first movie on FX last night, and I think I caught a major continuity blooper...as I recall, when Magento pulled up his sleeve to show his concentration camp tatoo (which I'm glad they reminded us of), I don't think the number was anywhere near what the number was in the first one. Minor, but still kinda weird.

Figrin D'an
May 29th, 2006, 08:07:29 AM
I'm not saying that the quality level of the film is all Ratner's fault. I'm well aware that there were major problems with the studio pushing the production forward to meet the release date they set. There likely would have been some of the same problems regardless of the director. I'm mearly saying that, had Singer remained to finish the trilogy, he probably would have been able to accomplish more with what he was given (he would have had a little more clout to get things changed than Ratner did, and I do think that Singer is better at molding and developing characters.)

Shawn
May 29th, 2006, 05:29:37 PM
Oh, and I'd just like to chime in to say that "I'm the Juggernaut, *****" is the worst line of the trilogy, surpassing Storm's "toad" line from the first movie. At least I could see Storm's line being amusing if it had the right delivery.

If he had kept it to "I'm Juggernaut!", a la Marvel vs Capcom 2, I would have had a little nerdgasm.

No it went from like 10-15 minutes tell sunset to like pitch black in like 2 minutes. I mean were talking like the black of night that doesn't happen for at least an hour after sunset. So what did magneto and friends do on the bridge sit and play hopscotch for 90 minutes then attack, the bridge was already across they weren't going to be sitting around playing patty cake for that long..

I tend to agree. They marched straight across the bridge and right in to battle. It wouldn't have taken them more than a few minutes to get across. In that time the sun fell and it was pitch dark. There was a continuous flow to the scene...it really didn't make sense to me at all....but in the grand scheme of things, it's minor.

Well I think Jackman would keep going. After that though I don't know. The bigger problem would be could they keep Mckellen through three movies. Also I am not sure if Hallie will come back though the movie could survive without her. What I would like to see is a trlogy dedicated to Apoclyapse and maybe throw in Days of Future Past (have Apoclyapse behind the sentiles maybe he is controlling Trask), but if we are lucky we might get a one film deal for Apoclyapse though I have no idea how you cram his story into one film.

JMK
Jun 2nd, 2006, 01:49:32 PM
I don't think there's any way you could get Apocalypse in one movie. That would require a second trilogy. As long as they can get Jackman to be Wolverine forever, I think a lot, if not all of the other characters can be interchanged. They can come and go as far as I'm concerned, as long as some continuity is kept. It would be nice if Stewart and MacKellen would stick around indefinetly too, but I realize that's a pretty fat chance.

Lilaena De'Ville

McKellan has said that he'd continue to play Magneto, although he didn't say for how long, just that he would play him again if asked. :) But then, eventually you have Professor Dumbledore syndrome and these actors are getting up there in years and would have to be replaced eventually anyway. If they made X-men movies for the next twenty years. :p

Jedi Master Carr

I wouldn't want to see them try to cram Apoclyapse into one movie because it would probably suck. You would need to start with Sinister and work Apoclyapse in slowly maybe not reveal him into the second movie and have the final movie be about him. I think if Magneto stays around he will be working with the X-Men against Apoclyapse but that is my feeling.

JMK
Jun 2nd, 2006, 02:48:17 PM
Well look what happened when they crammed Phoenix in to one movie.

They'd have to do another trilogy, but the problem with that storyline is that it becomes too much about the 'supernatural' rather than being a mutant.

They were able to get away with it with Phoenix, but it would be a stretch with the others villains. But if they made it, I'd be there with bells on.

Jedi Master Carr
Jun 2nd, 2006, 02:52:25 PM
Well they would have to change Apoclaypse from his original story. They have to ditch the cyborg and time travel parts of his story and just deal with him being a very powerful mutant. They can bring the science, experement stuff in because that works with what they have already shown. Maybe have him trying to build an army of enhanced mutants to acomplish his ultimate goal. Throw in that he is responsible for the Sentile program to help unleash his terror.
