View Full Version : I made an omelette.

Yes, I made an omelette. It had ham and cheese. It was quite tasty.
It was the first thing I have ever 'cooked' without the help or supervision of others.
Thus begins my journey into the wonderful world of cookery.

I can cook simple stuff, but anything fancier than breakfast food will be burnt to a crisp or raw. Trust me; I lived on my own, tried to make myself pork chops and was sick the next day - that's the day I knew it was ramen and KD for me! ;)

Never ceases to amaze me the collective inability to cook and the inability to appreciate the finer foods women on SW-fans have.

As someone who has seen me eat, you know I have a picky pallette. I have a problem with the texture/strong taste of a lot of food :|

I've got mine somewhat kitchen trained :)
She makes good pasta and tuna sandwiches!
I'm still the better cook though ;)

Hey, just because I can't make food doesn't mean I can't appreciate it! :p
I am moving on to pasta next. Wish me luck.

Pasta is easy. I can cook, but I cant be bothered. Actually, its not the cooking that really bothers me, its the cleaning up after. Just easier to stick something in the microwave and just have to wash a fork and a plate.

I can cook very well, it's just there's no need to make anything fancier than spaghettios or ramen when it's just me that's eating.
Although, now I want an omelette.

I never said I couldn't cook, just that I was happy for Jenny making her first omlette. :mneh

Ah, but WE'RE the ones saying you cant cook and dont appreciate finer foods, bit of a difference there - and as proof I wish I could draw out some of the old time chat logs when SW-Fans posters talked about random stuff and food came up. :)
Reminds me, I aint made an eye bleedign sate for a while. Step-mum insists on cooking and yes, she can cook really well. Renting my own place again soon so that'll be time I think for some fun in the kitchen again.

Holly does not like beer nor wine nor the finest fungi. Beverages enjoyed by all around the world yet none please her pallet. Mushrooms! One of the most versatile ingreedients yet completely scorned.

Proof you have a lack of cultured taste. Mushrooms are par excellance.

Raw mushrooms = good
Cooked mushrooms = :x
Why should it matter if we "lack" cultured taste? What do you consider "cultured"? Just because I can't cook very well doesn't mean I can't appreciate well-made food.
It's not a 'culture' thing more of a preference thing. I don't like the taste, smell and texture of certain foods. I'm sure there are foods even you wouldn't eat Mark.

Culture is a very subjective term. That being said, England isn't exactly known for it's cultural appreciation of food. We likes pies, puddings and fish&chips! :p :lol I get enough culture from literature to fill up my quota anyway.

Liking or not liking certain foods isn't indicitive of any sort of cultured taste.
And I love mushrooms - cooked or raw.

Ah but pies, puddings, and fish n' chips are very cultural in England. ;) You win!
And escargo is 'cultural' but you wouldn't catch me eating snails. :x
For the information of the people who are knocking my cooking skills, since the time you got your information I've been cooking a lot more. Not cooking /= not being able to cook. There is actually a difference.

If you want a really good time, and to try some crazy foods, go for Dim Sum. Nothing like curried squid, cows' stomach and chicken feet for breakfast ;)

I ate a bit of Escargo at a snail farm in France. It wasn't great.
Also, UPDATE! I made pancakes. Haha.

If you're feeling adventurous the next time you make pancakes, try spreading peanut butter on them before you put syrup on. It's so very yummy :D
