Reality can be harsh at times. It can even make one question its way of rewarding or punishing us. After all, what are we but frail beings, shoved along fate's path like slaves. An insignificant being strolling along the surface of pinprick lights, stabbed randomly into an entirely black background of desolate space. In times like these, however, it suits most of us. Some beings are better left unnoticed.

The crescent curved boline was lifted from a nearby side table, sent down to swiftly sever a perfect cut through sage branches. White sage had never been one of Nemawei's most favored scent, she preferring lavender or spearmint, but the herb was a big seller when she considered the ten people that came about her shop in a week's times. She crinkled her nose as she worked.

Setting aside the herb knife, she hung various branches from the line draped across the unlit portion of the small workroom. Then, after washing her hands, she moved into the main room of the establishment and forced out a sigh.

The scent of flowers struck her softly as she entered, each section caressing her eyes with a different blend of color. Hours passed and noon was tolled by the expensive grandfather clock that stood in the far off corner. Absently, her mind shifted the small bell suspended over the door at the front. It tinkled on merrily and then was jostled into loud clamors as a customer enter.

Her eyes narrowed and her hand raked her lower thigh, fingers dancing over the hilt of a dagger that was concealed beneath her plentiful skirt. There was something very different and unfamiliar about whoever it was and she had no heart for menacing strangers.

Honey colored eyes flashed and solidifed from their normally flowing state in hue, seized by a stormy grey tint. Her tongue drove across her lower lip in an attempt to bring back its fleeing moisture.

He straightenA flurry of corellian curses were issued as he walked in the door. "Dang that silly bell", Zereth mumbled under his breath as the shrill noise rang again and again; hurting his sensitive ears. He reached up and gripped the bell with his hand to stop the ringing, "That’s better" he said, a calm expression covered up the painful wince that had been displayed a moment ago.

ed his clothing, black trousers and black sleeveless shirt with a thick red cloak thrown over his shoulders. He wore no visible weapons, but his formidable height of near seven feet and the rippling muscles on his bare arms suggested that he didn't need one. He turned and walked towards the young woman and stopped in front of the counter that sat in front of her, "Would you happen to have any red roses for sale?" He asked as he brushed a strand of his long, black hair out of his eyes, and what eyes they where. His eyes where a dark, blood red with dark edges with a sickly look to them, as if he suffered from some strange disease.

Well, he definitely wasn't one of her regulars. Her eyes assessed him from head to toe, holding her concealed position behind the counter. Removing her roaming fingers from the dagger's smooth hilt, she collected her business attitude and pasted on a smile. It wasn't every day that a big hulking brute came shuffling through her door inquiring about roses. She grew ever curious about the man but kept to herself.

"Of course. Many, in fact. They are particularly nice for this time of year, might I add." She informed him coolly, wandering around the counter and over to a nearby section of red blooms. Her fingertips lifted and grazed the flourishing petals with surprising gentleness. It was said that too much oil was transferred at the merest touch, but in her own hands, the flowers only seemed to grow more radiant.

Drawing up a large number into her arms, she hid another curious inspection behind the crisp gathering. "How many will you be needing?" She questioned, tipping her head slightly, flashing him a somewhat more friendly smile.

She couldn't quite place the feeling of unease that clamped down on her nerves with this man present. Something ominous. But what kind of evil bought red roses that symbolized love? She only seemed to be confusing herself.

Xoriix Dvron, newly appointed to the Rebel Alliance's special operations under the title "Death Alchemist," smiled synically as he walked through the door to the shop. He was on Corellia, not only out of a desire to visit his homeworld, but also for business reasons, a small assignment he was not permitted to disclose. As he walked in, he raised one heavily-tatooed arm to brush the long silver hair from his face.

"I'm looking for something with thorns."

Xoriix was an alchemist - he had spent years studying the science of alchemy, finding every way possible to apply the science to combat. His "other half" - one might call it a second personality, though it was, indeed, so much more than that - had spent as long perfecting the art of alchemy as it pertains to healing and restructuring living things, to the point that he had once been able to produce a living substance from only the key buiding blocks of life - hydrogen, oxygen, carbon, nitrogen, phosphorous, and sulphur. With the two of them sharing a body, plants seemed to make the best alchemically-derived weapons.

He glanced, for the first time, toward the shop owner, finally noticing the second customer. He wasn't much on common courtesy, so he simply chose to ignore the other customer. Still, the man looked as if he would be quite the adversary...

Xoriix walked over to one side of the store, looking through the various plants as he waited. She would be done with the other customer soon enough.

The shop was busy today.

The Jedi Master pushed open the glass-pane door, causing that bell to chime again as he saw other customers. He kept silent as he looked around. His wardrobe consisted of parimarily a dark color scheme; dark robes- not something a Jedi would wear. But he was still catious in this new universe. He never knew what or when something would happen.

He looked the other three over; apparently they were already taking care of their business, he would wait his turn.

Odd that a Jedi should be on Corellia. But afterall, everyone had business to tend to.

Zereth eyed the new customers for a few moments before turning back to the shop owner, "I only need one..." He pulled a few credits from his pocket and set them down on the counter "...please." He finished and smiled. The woman handed him a single rose, which Zereth took from her and held carefully in both hands, "Keep the change," He said before backing away from the counter andwalking past the first of the customers, but pausing as he stepped along side the second one. He looked sideways at Zasz with his sickly red eyes and gave Zasz a sly smile that said 'I know your secret'.

He turned away from the lightsider and walked off a short distance and simply stood there, trading glances between his rose and Zasz. But behind his eyes his mind was churning like a maelstorm. What was a lightsider doing here on Corellia? He puzzled but could find no solution and decided to watch and wait and find out what the man was up to.

He turned from the customer and pretended to be examine a floral arrangement by the window. Every now and then he would lift the rose to his nose and smell the familiar scent.

She was getting nervous and that was quite obvious. The same energy she had felt before all but tripled with the entrance of the new costumers, they too being first time attendees of the green house. After replacing the roses in their stand, arranging them neatly, then turning back to the other two which she hadn't helped yet, she looked them over as long as she dared, then addressed the silver haired man. Thorns, she reminded herself.

"Well, we have roses, jimsonweed is on sale, though it can be quite poisonous if not handle correctly. Adonis vernalis is also on sale, that being also poisonous. There are others, I don't get many people asking for thorny plants, you see." She informed him cheerful, wandering about and pointing out the various locations of said plants.

Her other hand, which was not busily pointing and gesturing, was tucking the credits in her pocket. Wary as a deer, she kept her distance and kept her eyes on all three of the costumers, especially the last to enter.

"And you, sir?"

"Stunted Massassi Trees."

He replied to her. He had seen the rather sinister look the other had given him; he was ready to kill the darksider right then and their. But he stayed his hand.

For now.

He lofted the plant tender a smile as he waited for her response.

The fox-like ears on Xoriix's head twitched at the mention of poison in the thorns. A normal rose he once could form into a whip that would cut through most objects, but with a flowe with poison thorns...

He glanced back at the shopkeeper, interrupting her conversation with the Jedi.

"Which of those is the most poisonous?"

He noticed the slightly shocked expression on the shopkeeper's face. She probably thought him to be a common criminal, seeking vengence. He chuckled; he was far more than that.

Still, unless she tried to alert the authorities, there was no point in pulling out a badge. If she was an Imperial loyalist...

He turned again, inspecting another of the thorned plants in front of him.

Stunted Massassi Trees.. from Yavin.

She thought to herself for a long moment, crossing one arm over her middle while the other was propped on it vertically. Her fingers tapped against her chin and lower lip and her eyes closed as she thought. Healing flowers and bark for rope, was it not?

She caught his smile and surprisingly, it did calm her, ever-so-slightly as it were. She smiled back, glancing slightly to the side, rather than at him.

"I believe, sir, that we only have the flowers and bark. But we have the flowers attached to branches and its powder form -"

An interruption in the conversation brought her back to the silver haired, fox-eared man she had addressed about the thorn bearing plants. Her brows drew downward and her vertically positioned arm fell down across the other just below her chest.

"I'd suggest the Jimsonweed, if you are looking for poisonous and thorns." She answered slowly, staying her smile despite her sudden suspicion, of what exactly, she did not know.

"Ah."

He said in response; as if milling over something in his mind. The interuption got his attention and he narrowed his eyes at the silver haired..thing.
