Marvin Lewis = Tony Dungy
Carson Palmer - Peyton Manning
Chad Johnson = Marvin Harrison

The more I look at Cincy the more they remind of a young Colts team. Is this really the beginning of respectability for long suffering Bengals fans? Are the Bengals getting ready to start a 5 year run of playoff football? The offense is in place and you know that Marvin Lewis will eventually get them a defense as Dungy has finally been able to do with Indy. They might be battling Indy and Denver for trips to the Superbowl for the next 3-5 years.

Yog

The great thing about the Bengals, they are such a complete team. They got decent defense, amazing quarterback/WRs and a good running game. You could compose half your fantasy team with just Bengals players.

Does God hate the Eagles? Westbrook is now gone for the season with a foot injury. Yeah, we knew their season was over already, but this is just rubbing it in.

Whats the differnce when was the last time the eagles even came close to utilizing westbrook like they should. OH thats right last years NFC championship game.

Jedieb

I think the Football Gods are punishing the Eagles for not using Westbrook enough AND for laying down like dogs last night.

I see you are going with your heart again Jedieb :p I think Dallas is done honestly, 2/3 of their offensive line is out for the year.

They're still at home and favored. Believe me, if they were in KC I wouldn't dare go with Dallas. I actually got to see the Chiefs and Cowboys play on Thanksgiving at Texas Stadium a few years back. Want to take a guess who won that game? ;)

JMK

Is this God punishing the Eagles for their handling of the T.O. case? This is unbelievable. They have no more legitimate weapons on offense. I'd be surprised if they were able to win just one more game this year. What a horror show.

LOL I remember that game very well, old Steve "I've got you babe" Bono was the QB. Somehow they went 13-3 that year. I could never understand how they go 13-3 with him and only could win 11 and 9 wins with Montana. I just think KC will win, I have a good feeling about this one :)

Jedieb
Dec 7th, 2005, 06:25:48 PM
I won't be surprised one bit if KC wins. They're on a hot streak right now and of the two teams I think they're under more pressure. Dallas will still have a small chance of making it if they lose. Ever since they got Roaf back the running game has returned to form. I also think having just one back to play can sometimes help focus a running game. Stopping Johnson is going to be a big test for the Dallas defense. Bledsoe has got to get his crap together and play well at home this week.

Jedi Master Carr
Dec 7th, 2005, 06:36:11 PM
Bledsoe problem now is that his offensive line is in banged up.

Jedieb
Dec 7th, 2005, 09:35:10 PM
That line certainly couldn't stop the Giants. That fumble and TD that started the 3rd quarter last week was friggin' ridiculous. I don't know if KC is going to be able to get that kind of pressure on them. This should be one of the better games of the weekend.

Glad you got your picks in Ryan!

The Steelers made a big statement on that first drive. Some nice runs and a great screen run by Parker helps them get into the endzone on their first drive against that vaunted Bears defense. Meanwhile, Indy holds on its first defensive possession and now the offense has moved out past its own 10 yard line and has crossed midfield. Those are the two early games I'll be watching like a hawk.

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 12:22:02 PM
The Colts start the game with an 89 TD drive capped off by the all familiar Manning to Harrison TD. Meanwhile, the Bears, surprisingly, are driving down the field. Some nice runs by Jones gets them past midfield. Still, I can't see the Bears offense keeping up with the Steelers. If the Steelers should start stacking that line and force Orton to make some plays. The kid just threw a ball out of bounds about 10 yards over his receivers head. Here comes 3rd and 9..... Orton runs and comes up short. They're going for it on 4th and 1..... They got the 1st down! The drive lives.

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 01:04:23 PM
Both the Bears and Jags are down 14-3. The Bears are the ones in really dire straights. They're on the road with no passing game to speak of. Are we finally going to see Rex Grossman play? That second Harrison TD was beautiful. The Jags better step up and get something going now or it'll be a long day.

jjwr
Dec 11th, 2005, 01:09:41 PM
Gah, darn those Colts.

Pats are up 14-0, Dillon is on a roll and Brady is doing everything!

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 01:17:13 PM
3rd and long, from his own endzone, Manning hit Harrison on a big gain to keep a drive alive after a Jags turnover. Another big pass, this time to Wayne, and the Colts are inside the 10. The Jags look like they're coming unglued. On the Wayne catch a LB had a late hit on Wayne that added 15 yards and now they just had another cheap shot personal foul that gives the Colts 1 and goal again, this time from the 3. A TD could pretty much wrap this game up before halftime.

Yog
Dec 11th, 2005, 01:19:11 PM
Jags commited a 79 yard penalty? How did that happen? :lol

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 01:22:14 PM
The Colts faked a FG and should have had a TD, but the punter put too much on his throw. Pretty strange call IMO, the FG was a gimme. That's the kind of thing that can give a team a spark. Especially if the Jags can get some points in these last 2 minutes.

Meanwhile, the Bucs are surprising the Panthers and are up 10-0. A few upsets are brewing with Cleveland, Tampa, and the Jets up. Even the Texans are still in their game at 3-3.

Harrison catch. Wayne catch. Penalty. Edge run. Penalty. Then they had the 1st and goal at the 3. But that fake FG was a strange call. The Colts just forced a 3 and out and now have the ball at their own 43 with 54 seconds.

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 01:29:24 PM
They just drove down to set up the Vanderjack FG they should have gotten last time. Manning had Harrison for yet another TD but overthrew him or it'd be 21-2.

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 01:35:50 PM
Wow, with Chicago losing, if the Bucs can hold on there would be a log jam at 8-4 and Tampa would be battling for the #2 spot! Sweeeeet. :)

Dec 11th, 2005, 01:42:01 PM
Problem with the bears and what we are seeing today, is they have zero offense. All it takes is a fairly good day against that strong bears D and they are toast. That is why I think people who compare them to the 85 bears or the 2000 ravens are morons, both of those teams could points up offensivly the bears can't. They live and die by their defense and evevtually someone is going to beat you and you have no plan B.

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 01:55:15 PM
I'd say they're almost as inept on offense as that Ravens squad. What the Ravens had was Shannon Sharpe, an underrated Dilfer, and a running game. The Bears have the running game, but they don't have the QB and big play TE that the Ravens had. The Steelers just got a sack on 3rd and long and pinned the Bears deep, forcing a punt. Now they've got the ball at midfield and the snow is falling at Heinz Field. I love watching snow games.

Wow, the Browns just got a FG to stay up by 4 on the Bengals. Still early, but this could end up being a perfect day for the Steelers.

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 02:00:26 PM
Cleveland 17
Cincy 13

Houston 10
Tenn 3

St. Louis 13
Vikings 13

Raiders 3
Jets 9

Tampa 10
Carolina 0

And THAT'S why they play the games! None of these are finals, but it looks like we could have a bunch of upsets today. Wow.

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 02:07:13 PM
Wow, the Steelers are starting to POUND the Bears. Bettis just broke a bunch of tackles and powered the ball into the endzone. This game looks like it's over.

So, no matter what else happens today we're guaranteed one thing: NO GAINS FOR SATAN!!!! :crack

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 02:12:49 PM
Bucs go into the 4th quarter up 13-3. If they hold on they'll be in first place because they have a better record in the division. C'mon Simms!!!!! :crack

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 02:35:14 PM

jjwr
Dec 11th, 2005, 02:39:57 PM
Pats are up 28-0 in the 4th, D is actually playing well now that they've had the same 11 starters for 3 games in a row now.

Dec 11th, 2005, 02:44:25 PM
Pats are bringin Flutie in the 4th quarter vs the Bills...sweet!

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 02:55:34 PM
The Colts D has gotten sloppy here at the end. A TD, an onside kick, and another TD plus a 2pt conversion have made it a 26-18 game. The Jags have around 1:50 and all of their timeouts. The rout just got interesting in these last few minutes.

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 02:56:53 PM
The Jags are betting on their defense, they just kicked off deep. Here comes the Indy offense and what are they gonna do?

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 02:59:26 PM
Huge 3rd down coming up! 3rd and long, do you run and force the Jags to use their last To? Do you trust Manning to drop back and pick up the 1st down? I think you have to let Manning throw.

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 03:00:05 PM
And Manning hits Clark for a first down!!!!! The guy is just unreal, game over.

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 03:01:42 PM

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 03:04:54 PM
And the Texans WIN!!!!!! The Reggie Bush Sweepstakes. ;)

There's still time for someone to steal that pic from them, but I doubt it. Man, the Texans have now lost 3 straight late in the 4th quarter. Buh, bye Capers.

JMK
Dec 11th, 2005, 03:07:51 PM
8-0 start to the day.

Not too shabby.

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 03:07:55 PM
Holy crap!!!!!!!!!! The Texans just got a huge return to the 20 and then the Titans committed a boneheaded fask mask penalty. So even though the clock reads 0:00 they get to try a chip shot FG. OMG ?! It wasn't even CLOSE! My sister could have made a better attempt. Man, the Texans are just PATHETIC.

JMK
Dec 11th, 2005, 03:11:30 PM
What a sad-sack franchise. They must be trying to tank the games at this point. I mean how is that sort of botched job even possible? They call themselves pros? Don't get me wrong, I wanted the Titans to win, but that's just shameful to watch. I'm embarassed for them. Not that I wasn't embarassed for them at 1-11 already.

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 03:13:11 PM
Nice job JMK. If you get the Arizona upset you'll be PERFECTO! First one of the season, impressive.

JMK
Dec 11th, 2005, 03:19:44 PM
Well I'm fairly sure that there will be one game that doesn't go my way before the week's play is over. Arizona is my big gamble, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Coybows lose to the Chiefs. Tonight's late game could go either way as well as far as I'm concerned. There's a reason why no one has ever had an undefeated week in this pool (at least I can't remember someone going 16-0). I went 15-1 one week in the first year and it's been done a couple times since, but I don't think anyone has been perfect in one week.

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 03:40:07 PM
Willie Roaf is a damn stud. He and Gonzalez blew the left side of that Cowboys line and Johnson went in untouched. The Cowboys got past midfield, but the drive stalled. Here comes a punt, it's a touchback. Damn, the defense better step up or it's going to be a long afternoon.

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 04:06:53 PM
That drive only yielded a FG, but it was still huge. The Cowboys kept Johnson off the field and rested that defense for over 9 minutes. Let's see if they can step up and get a 3 and out or a short series and end the half with the ball.

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 04:14:21 PM

jjwr
Dec 11th, 2005, 04:35:50 PM

Johnson is just running all over the Boys, I'm believing more and more in this team as they play.

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 04:41:45 PM
HUGE turnover! The Chiefs were just marching down the field at will on that drive. Even just a FG would be big here, especially with Dallas getting the ball to start the second half. This could be a 10 or 14 pt swing here.

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 04:43:51 PM
Whitten is a STUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 04:50:30 PM
The Chiefs are really playing with fire here at the end of the half. They should have just run out the clock. The Cowboys are going to get a chance at returning the punt now and if it's a bad kick they'd have a shot at a Free Kick. What the hell were they thinking?

Johnson is just unstoppable. The Cowboys are lucky to be in this game. If they pull this game out it'll be a minor miracle. I think that's the Cowboys 2nd 3-and-out of the second half. At least they just made a great tackle on special teams and pinned the Chiefs inside the 5. Although the way Johnson is running it just gives him more field to work with.

Holy crap, the Fins are up big on the Chargers. I think San Diego was definitely looking ahead of this game. Wow.

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 05:30:53 PM
Henry might just have cost Dallas the game. You can't miss that tackle!!! If I were Parcells I'd tear him a new one the next time he comes to the sideline. That would have force the Chiefs to punt and the Cowboys would have had great field position. Now the Cheifs are already at midfield and it's Johnson time. Idiot Henry.

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 05:35:25 PM

.. and in fantasy football, I seem to make the final playoff spot unless there is a miracle, beating #2 just for the sake of it. Man, what a drab season swfans FF has been for me this year. I had a bad draft, and waiver wire offered slim chances of improvements. Probably, Ryan will put my team out of misery next week.

On the bright side, I made the playoffs in 7 out of 8 leagues. The one league I did not make it, was a mess with 20 teams only 4 playoff spots, 3QBs per team, defensive players and all sorts of bizarre rules. I made a good run there though. All other leagues except SWFans, I am in 1st or 2nd before the playoff starts. How about that?

I also had a shared first place in survival football competing with 49 other teams. I had a 10 game streak without error.

Next year, I am probably going to cut it down to 5 fantasy teams. Its a bit too much to keep track of 8 teams..

I am also happy with my pickem season so far, except the 3-4 first weeks where I really did not pay much attention, and it may have cost me in the end, we'll see.

Jedieb
Dec 11th, 2005, 05:53:36 PM

8 Teams? Holy cow, I do 2 and feel like thats too many. As for the SW-Fans.net next year, we need much smaller rosters so the wavier wire is actually usefull.

That was a beautiful play fake by Bledsoe. Man, what a game. With Dante Hall, the Chiefs still have a chance to get in position to tie this game. The Chargers have lost, so that's good news for the Chiefs. Man, the playoff picture in the AFC is going to get crazier after this weekend.

AFC Playoff Seeds
1. Indy 13-0
2. Denver 10-3
3. Cincy 9-3
4. Pats 8-5
5. Jacksonville 9-4
6. Pittsburgh 8-5
7. San Diego 8-5
8. KC 8-5

The biggest loser today had to be the Chargers. How do you lose to the Dolphins AT HOME? There's no shame for the Chiefs to lose on the road to Dallas. The Steelers were favored at home against the Bears, regardless of Chicago's record. Everyone followed form except San Diego.

After today, I just can't see how the Colts are going to keep gunning for that 19-0 mark. They've got it all right now, the division, the bye, and home field. Next week they have a DESPERATE San Diego team at home. The Chargers are going to have to play out of their minds while the Colts will have no real reason to slug it out with them. If they do manage to get past next the Seahawks game will be interesting. Seattle may have everything wrapped up as well so neither team may have ANYTHING to play for.

Kyle wasn't really suppose to win, they were underdogs today. The Chargers were the big losers. Your Ravens did better than expected, but they still came up short.

Speaking of, great Boller highlight to start the recap on Primetime. Yep, there's his second pick in the redzone. Typical Boller. OMG, that fumble of his on 4th and 2 was hysterical. Yep, the QB stylings of Kyle Boller, you just can't beat 'em. :evil

Aye. I blame K. Boller. Ravens totally had that win if not for his fumble in the 4th. Granted, there was some suspect play calling in the redzone. The Ravens were trying to use Chester Taylor like Jamal Lewis and he's definately not. How about Mark Clayton though, 7 for 105 and a TD. That was a beautiful pass too. Kyle needs another year. I think one more season and he can be good. He's got talent.

With that many turnovers in the red zone that was a game Balt. probably should have won. Tough luck.

One thing I've noticed about the Texan's line is that they'll let up 5 or 6 sacks in the first half, but in the second half they don't let up that many.

Broncos should have lost and that can't mean good for when you have to play teams that have good defense that don't have Kyle Boller.

I was just as shocked as you were. I'm glad they won, and I don't mind losing that pick this week.
Maybe, just maybe the Fish are turning the corner now. The huge come back last week vs Buffalo (I know, it's Buffalo), an impressive win on the road vs San Diego, and another win on the road in Oakland. Terrible teams aren't supposed to win 3 straight, are they? They've got the Jets up next, then the Titans, so they could quite possibly have a 5 game win streak before facing the Pats to end the season, and since the Pats will likely have the division wrapped up they may rest everyone, meaning Miami could have a shot at 6 straight wins. Now I KNOW bad teams don't do that.

If Arizona loses to Houston, the Jan. 1 game between the 49ers and Texans could be the Reggie Bush bowl.

JMK
Dec 12th, 2005, 01:14:27 PM
I was just listening to the Dan Patrick show and some dude (a guy who gets paid to give his opinion, not a fan) said that the Texans will toy with the idea of giving up the #1 pick and trading down to get multiple picks etc. He said they have too many needs and Bush, as good as he may be, can't help that much.

Ryan Pode
Dec 12th, 2005, 01:59:18 PM
They do need to trade down to get O-linemen. I think the 49ers will take Bush as they need a stud running back.

The way to top 12 picks are looking to be:

1. Houston Texans
2. San Francisco 49ers
3. New York Jets
4. Green Bay Packers
5. New Orleans
6. Arizona Cardinals
7. Baltimore Ravens
8. Buffalo Bills
9. Cleveland Browns
10. Detroit Lions
11. Oakland Raiders
12. Tennessee Titans

That's the top 12. It'll bound to change a bit. As several of those teams play one another in the next few weeks. Philedelphia, Miami, and St. Louis may come in and some teams (Ravens or Browns realistically) may move out.

JMK
Dec 12th, 2005, 02:24:21 PM
I won't speak for the other teams just yet, but the Dolphins won't be joining that list based on record. They're 6-7 and their next 2 games are vs the Jets and Titans. It's very possible that they could win both.

sirdizzy
Dec 12th, 2005, 03:01:07 PM
Yes they stuggled with the ravens but sometimes you need to win ugly and that was a huge win. And they didn't deserve to lose, the ravens turned the ball over 4 times they deserved to lose and lose by 3 tds.

JMK
Dec 12th, 2005, 03:28:06 PM
The inability to put teams away should be troubling though. They should have mopped the floor with Baltimore yesterday.

Did you see Boller just *drop* the ball while scrambling? No one hit him or got a hand on the ball...he just dropped the damn thing. It was hilarious!

sirdizzy
Dec 12th, 2005, 03:48:45 PM
despite how bad the ravens have been this year at offense they still have a good defense. This game didn't worry me its the giants and cheifs losses that worried me because those were good teams they outplayed and couldn't put away. They also almost let the patriots and eagles back into those games as well.

Boller is riddiculous, they need to dump him and get a new QB hes not ever going to make it in the nfl.

Who fears the patriots a little in the playoffs, they are starting to get healthy and its beginning to look a little like the old powerful pats. I could see they slapping jax around first round and going into indy and ending indy's fairy tale season how funny would that be.

JMK
Dec 12th, 2005, 06:19:35 PM
That would hysterical. And sad. It's the sort of story that would make Manning jump off a cliff, like that Angels pitcher years ago when he killed himself for choking.

Boller is a joke. I think some of the suck must have rubbed off on him when he was dating Tara Reid. He makes Fiedler look like Unitas.

Jedieb
Dec 12th, 2005, 07:00:26 PM
I don't know how much the Broncos should worry about yesterday's performance. What shocks me is that it was at Mile High. They came a few non-Boller embarrassments from losing that game. Which meant the entire AFC West could have gone down in flames yesterday. But this isn't college football. There are no damn polls or computers to impress, the point is to WIN the game and the Broncos did just that. Who do you think felt worse this morning, the Broncos or the Chargers?

I'm telling you right now, the Chargers are done. Yesterday's embarrasment may light a fire under them next week and make the game at Indy interesting, but that was their 3rd home loss. They're not going to recover from that. Meanwhile, the Chiefs may have the toughest schedule, but two of those games are at Arrowhead. And if Manning lays another 4th quarter egg they could get that last season road win they desperately need. That's going to be a huge game next week. The Giants have the Cowboys breathing down their necks. But if Manning can keep the downtroden Eagles in a game, then imagine what Johnson and Green can do to them.

Jedieb
Dec 12th, 2005, 07:15:07 PM
The Pats are going to be interesting. They're taking on my Bucs next week. And I'm telling you right now, POINT SPREAD BE DAMNED! I will not under any circumstances pick against my Bucs when a playoff spot is on the line and they're playing one of my most HATED teams.

The Fins live?
Here's something to ponder. Next week the Dolphins are playing the hapless Jets while the Pats have to host a playoff hungry Bucs. If the games go the way I'm picking them then the Dolphins will be one game behind with 2 to play. They end the season at NE. If the Pats lost to Tampa AND their next road game then the season finale would be for the AFC East title and the #4 slot. Unfortunatelly for the Dolphins there's one major hurdle in this Fish Fantasy scenario. That Pats road game is against the Jets. Sorry JMK, but hey, you at least have something to look forward to this month. Who'd a thunk that a month ago?

JMK
Dec 12th, 2005, 07:26:55 PM
Exactly. Of course if the Dolphins do manage to win vs the Jets and the Titans to force a winner take all scenario, I'd get all ramped up and expect the Fish to win. But I'd have to be realistic about it. It just wouldn't happen. If you told me one month ago that the Dolphins could realistically have a shot at the division at the end of week 13 I would be over the moon.

Kyle Boller needs one more year and an offensive line. If the Ravens bring in some competitors at O-line and a decent vetern QB to switch to if Kyle isn't ready, then so be it. But Kyle reminds me a lot Drew Brees two years ago and a lot like Jake Plummer. Bad offensive lines that make the QB always paranoid of the pass-rush that make them rush and force things.

Denver needs to hope they play a team that has a slow defense. They run east-west to get their big plays and teams with fast players (i.e. colts) can end their strategy.

JMK
Dec 12th, 2005, 08:56:38 PM
I think all Boller needs is a swift boot in the rear end.

Here's what they should do: have Boller in his tightie whities kneel at the 40 yard line and have Stover practice long field goals on his derriere.

While I believe he won't achieve greatness this season, I had already figured this season to be done. All I want to see at this point is more and more consistency. I'd much rather prefer it if he were consistantly bad or consistantly good. But not one week good and then the next bad.
