I just got a letter telling me that I've been picked as the "English* Student of the Year for 2005" for the college I was at last year! Apparently I get a £100 cheque, an engraved medal, and my name goes onto some trophy that'll be displayed in the college. This is the first time they've done these awards too, so my name will be the first on there. :cool

*English as in English Literature, obviously ;)

Well, the check, medal, and trophy are all nice, but admit it, you were hoping for a leg-lamp, complete with fishnet stocking... :) I mean, for a major award, it's the least they could send...

:lol - seriously, congrats...

For a minute I thought that you were the Student of the Year for all of Britain!!!

Congrats on the award - £100 checks are great to get right before Christmas. :D

I am very much strapped for cash at the minute, so the money will certainly be appreciated! :D There is a free buffet on at the ceremony too, apparently. Freebies all-round, woo!

That's awsome. Good job, jenny. You should take a picture of the medal to show us when you get it. :)

Yes, as Khendon said, it is very spiffy. What does it say at the top? All I can make out is your name.

Is it heavy with accomplishment?

Is it real gold?

How much is it worth at the 'ol pawn shop and/or ebay?

It says "Tyne Metropolitan College Academy Award for English 2005".

I'm not sure it has anything more than sentimental value. I have the £100 cheque though, so it's all good!

I want a double barrelled surname like yours. You have to be famous with a name like that! Like Helena Bonham-Carter. :love

Ha :) I might have to change my first name though, make it sound a bit more posh!
