I would rather have my intestines ripped through my nostrils than ever pick the saints to win again. There is two truths to dizzy's picks from this moment on, #1 he will always pick the Broncos to win and #2 he will always pick the saints to lose. And 8 times out of 10 hes going to be right. Bet on black when it keeps hitting black don't pray for it to hit red and bet the house.

Houston won't win because: David Carr get sacked every 1 in 4 pass attempts (on a good day, see Indy game for a bad), and if he doesn't get sacked, he has no primary passing threat with Andre Johnson hurt. We'll see a heavy load of Domanick Davis against the pourous run defense of the Browns, but if J.P Losman can beat this team, so can Trent Dilfer.
Jedieb
Oct 28th, 2005, 08:07:55 AM
Damn straight Dilfer can beat them. I was really surprised he played so poorly against the Lions last week. He's not the greatest QB, but he's solid and he usually doesn't make that many bad throws in a game.
sirdizzy
Oct 28th, 2005, 11:36:53 AM
I thought about taking Houston but they are so bad that even the hapless browns will most likely kill them at home. I just don't see a single team anywhere in the league that they can beat no matter if its a home game or a road game. They are like the niners last year when they went 1-15, instead of trying to find that one game they are going to win and being wrong 3-4 times during the season just pick them to lose every game and be wrong only once. My roulette statement apllies here as well.
So truth #3 I will pick Houston to lose every game.

at what point do you say we need to start running the football because are QB is hurting. Mcnabb started the game 0-12 with 1 int. Yes they drove for a late TD but your down 28-0 because of your ineffective offense for the entire first half.
Andy Reed is a moron, I am sorry you got a great RB in westbrook and a banged up QB but you call 13 pass plays and 4 running plays and are in a 28-0 hole. Pull your head out of your butt Mike Martz Jr and run the damn ball.
I am a broncos fan but that philly team makes me want to cry.

Comebacks all over the place. The Eagles have clawed back into their game and only trail by a TD. The Bucs were being humiliated by the Niners until Galoway broke a long TD and now trail by just 2. Meanwhile, the Chargers find themselves up by only 8 after leading big. But, the Dolphins continue to pound the Saints, 21-6.

Pats are still looking a bit listless here, offense just isn't in sync. I have to wonder why they aren't pounding the ball with Dillon.
Heh Eagles got toatsed, maybe after this whooping all of the various pundits will finally realize the Eagles are not that good this year.

Jedieb
Oct 30th, 2005, 10:12:28 PM
The Bills are now up by 9 with about 11 min to go. Buffalo has just pounded NE tonight. They've put together one long drive after another, but they haven't been able to get the ball in the endzone consistently so the Pats are still in the game.
The Eagles have now been thouroughly trashed in the first half of several games this year. They made a run in the second half today, but like jjwr said, they're clearly not one of the better teams in the league right now. With the way the NFC has improved this year, I don't think you can even say they're one of the better teams in their conference right now. The Giants look like they're in great shape to win that division and the Cowboys and Redskins both look like they could give the Eagles some problems down the stretch. Yeah, the Redskins looked like crap today, but they were on the road and played an inspired Giants team. I don't think they've played the Eagles at home yet and they could easily beat Philly at home.
Brady just hit Branch for a long completion.... looks like it might get overturned on replay. That would have put the Pats in a perfect position to make a typical 4th quarter Brady comeback. It still might stand, I'm not sure that ball came loose.

Jedieb
Oct 30th, 2005, 10:26:07 PM
Typical Pats. TD, big defensive play, and now they're back in the end zone again. Bills up by 9, 4 minutes later they're down by 5. That's what happens when you dominate the clock, but you don't put points on the board.
Jedieb
Oct 30th, 2005, 10:40:28 PM
Theisman is right, you can't throw a ball that short and expect your receiver to break 3 tackles to get the first down. Horrible throw by Holcombe, what was he thinking? That's the game.
Ryan Pode
Oct 30th, 2005, 10:41:33 PM

Oct 30th, 2005, 10:52:38 PM
Yup that made no sense, Pats had 2 defenders right there.
What a game by Bruschi!!!There are still issues in the secondary but with Seymour back that should help all the way around.
Back to the Eagles, they just suck this year. So many analysts are still calling them a top team(well before this game) but they are so much worse then their record, to me they are the opposite of the Chargers who are so much better then their record. Eagles would be 2-5 but for some really lucky breaks and vice versa.
sirdizzy
Oct 31st, 2005, 12:58:47 AM
The eagles are the same team they were last year the difference is Andy Reid has lost his #$^%ing mind.
Ok in the 28-0 hole they dug themselves in the Eagles called 16 plays. 12 passes and 4 rushing plays on 5 posessions going 3 and out 4 times and turning the ball over on the 5th possesion. During this stetch they were 0-12 on passes with one INT. This means you completed more passes to bronco players than you did to eagle players and now you are down 28-0.
Even Mike Martz was never that bad. That is the single ungliest stretch of play calling I have ever seen.
They made a valiant effort during the 3rd quarter to make it interesting but still had no chance in hell at winning the game. The broncos ran the ball at them all day and by the 4th quarter that defense was exausted and Tatum Bell went haywire on them including a 68 yrd td romp.
You cannot win games the way Reid is calling them. They got lucky last week and several other times this year other wise they'd be 3-4 or 2-5 and people would be calling for Reid's job. Reid has completly lost it in the last 3 games he has called more than %80 pass plays with a banged up QB.
Westbrook and that defense is the reason they made the superbowl last year not TO and not Mcnabb. You need to start getting the ball to westbrook and starting running the ball more than %20 of the time and only 11 carries a game. They need to fire Andy Reid.
JMK

I think McNabb is hurt real bad. He's soldiering on out there, but he really ought to think if its worth it. He's not as quick, he's limited in terms of what he can do out there and they're still calling plays as if he's 100%.
Maybe they just miss Pinkston and Mitchell. :p

Not sure how competitive the game will be tonight. Without their best defenders the Ravens may give up 100 yds before the first quarter even starts.

This should be a monday night embarassment. The Steelers haven't lost on MNF since Chuck was coaching them in '91.

Here's the gameplan: Start Chester Taylor. Lewis comes in relief midway in the game, starts CUTTING BACK and scores a 70 yard TD.
Defense: 46. Makes little Ben cry like a girl and the backups come up huge, including a INT for a TD by #37 during primetime.

Wright's played a solid first half, but that was a horrible pass. There was double coverage and he underthrew it to boot. Good challenge by Billick though because the receiver touched the Steller DB when he was on the ground, that'll wipe out the return.

When the hell did Jake Plummer decide to make a career as a 70's porn star? Explain that hair and mustache dizzy! I DARE YOU TO DEFEND IT!!!
sirdizzy
Nov 1st, 2005, 01:35:41 AM
Ok, this is easy. By conjouring up the image of a 70's porn star he has finally got some mojo. He has not thrown an interception in 6 games (did you just read that right, yep jake the snake has not thrown and interception in over 27 quarters of football, dear god when did that happen) He just had a game where he threw for 309 yards and 4 tds and zero interceptions. What you say you mean he has 12 tds and 3 ints at the midpoint of a season, if he keeps up this average thats only 6 interceptions this entire season, farve almost threw that many on sunday alone.
He can shave his head and wax it then draw cute animal figures on it for all i freaking care if it keeps him from throwing the ball to the other team. He can come dressed in a pimp suit with a cane and call his recievers his hoes if he keeps playing the way he is playing,
All hail the porn star mojo.
Jedieb

I don't really agree with all these people saying that Jake is a "caretaker." He's always been good for one or two boneheaded plays a game, but he's also been a 4th quarter stud. In both Arizona and Denver Plummer has been a QB that can rally a team and pull off a comeback. If he finally has his turnovers under control then he just might be an MVP contender at the end of the season.
AT Washington
Dallas
AT Giants
That's what the Eagles have in front of them right now. And no one here would be surprised if they went 0-3 during that stretch. This could be there season right here. Washington has got to be itching to get back on the field and redeem themselves after being shut out by the inspired Giants. Dallas is winnable, but the Cowboys already pasted the Eagles in Big D so they know they can beat the Eagles. Then they have to go up against the hottest team in the division at the Meadowlands.
6 DAYS
The countdown to the biggest game of the year begins. Probably the best Monday Night game we'll have all season. If the game were at Indy the Colts would probably be a TD favorite. Even in NE the Colts are favored. The Colts can kid themselves and say, "We're undefeated, we can afford to lose this game." That's a crock. This is the team that's been in your head for years now. In the 90's the Packers and Niners eventually had to beat the Cowboys to win their rings. The NBA is littered with teams that kept getting slapped down by bullies but eventually got over the hump; Pistons eventally beat the Celtics, the Bulls eventually beat the Pistons, etc. If not now Payton, then WHEN?

I think i won the week with 11-3
but i could still be wrong I did quick adding and glances at other peoples picks. But at least I had some good picks this week. Dam Jacksonville I should never have listened to my friend. The other two games I lost where detroit and chicago game and the niner's tampa game.
although to my credit i only picked detroit cause I wasn't sure on the out come of the game so I called it my iffy game of the week.

You're right Eb. If the Colts think they can afford to lose this game based on their record, they're stupider than stupid. This is almost a MUST win. They've got to beat their nemesis at some point. They're totally healthy, the Pats aren't. They've come off a bye week, the Pats aren't. Everything is in their favor and they are 3 point favorites right now. If they can't do it now, then it's over for them.
jjwr
Nov 1st, 2005, 09:39:38 AM
If the Colts are going to beat the Pats then this is the time, with their beat up defense and up and down offense they are ripe for the picking. If the Colts lose this game then one will definetly question whether they can ever beat the Pats and regardless of record will put the Pats right back at the top of the AFC after having beat the Steelers & Colts.
Pats are hurting seriously though, Dillon is beat up so they just signed a journeyman Fullback to help out. They need to get Seymour back up front to help control the line and Manning and if Gay can come back that will provide a huge boost to the secondary.
I was talking about this with another friend last night, between all of their injuries this year and what they went through last year it makes you wonder how scary they would have been had they been fully healthy. If the Pats had Seymour all year and Harrison never went down this would be a 5-2 team.
JMK
Nov 1st, 2005, 10:13:49 AM
That's the price that most champion teams pay though. They play more games than anyone else, they're the ones carrying bulleyes on their backs all year long...guys wear down and get hurt more often that teams that don't make the playoffs. I don't have a stat for it, but it makes sense to me.
Ryan Pode
Nov 1st, 2005, 09:17:25 PM
Thats not true. Injuries are random. The Pats had unbelievable luck with good game-planning last year. This year they lose some more key players (i.e. harrison). He was the glue because the pats felt that they could win with weaker defensive backs and rely on their pass-rush to compensate (like the second half of last year), but Semour is hurt. Their linebacking corps is old and their DBs just aren't that talented. So yeah, an injury to Harrison and it all goes to hell.
On the other hand, the Ravens have essentially 4 shutdown corners and as deep a linebacking corps (as far as athleticism and talent) as anyone in the league so they lose a few key players (last 2 defensive MVPs and their best DL) but they can keep it together. It all goes down to depth at the key position of the scheme. The Ravens use a secondary to allow all sorts of blitzing, to get a good pass rush, their weakness in recent years. The Pat's could send 3, 4 guys last year and produce sacks, this year they can't and it shows up in the defense.
