What is everyone dressing up as?

I'm putting together a lady Predator costume. So far I have the hair done, and the helmet mostly done, and I'm fixing to put together the wristblades and shoulder cannon today.

here's the helmet so far. It took me about three hours total to get it all cut out and taped together first with masking tape, then another layer of duct tape:

I'm buying a Kimono from a nearby Japanese store, and then I'm adding on my katana and wakizashi, buying a dark-haired wig so my hair will be long enough for a topknot, and calling myself Samurai-for-a-day...

My daughter is going to be Little Red Riding Hood and my dog will be the big bad wolf. He's a Samoyed and looks very wolf-like anyway. The trick is going to be getting him to wear a granny-cap and old-lady glasses. I don't think there's any way he'll wear those, but who knows... :) As for me, I'll probably end up being the hunter or something when I take her around.

Operation: Beerbobot is going better than I expected.

The body (torso, head, and arms) are essentially built. I need to put a few coats of primer and some metallic paint on top of it, then do a little detail painting, such as logo, robot-ish buttons, etc. If I can find some beer logo decals, I will put them all over the frame.

I need something to build an oversized keg pump out of so I can wear it on my head. This doesn't have to be functional so thats not a problem. The eyes are either going to be painted on or I'll get creative with some LED's if I can find them in time.

I need black rubber gloves and something to interface with the metallic air duct material that goes on my arms.

The ears will be made out of dixie cups with some wire coming out of each side or something.

Christin is supplying me with some screening to put over the robot's mouth which is where I actually see out of. I have adhesive velcro strips to attach the head to the torso so it doesn't move. The arm segments fit tight into the sockets in the torso so I probably won't need adhesives for them.

There is a flap under my arm socket holes that I can possibly reinforce and slap a cup holder or a beer koozy onto. From here it gets tricky, because I have to have some actual way to drink the beer. My best solution is to have a polyurethane tube coming out of mid-torso at the beverage holding area, going into the robot's frame, and mount it at the base of the neck. After all, it wouldn't be fun to be Beerbobot if I couldn't drink the beer that is donated to fill my power cells.

As for my lower half, I think I'm just going to wear shorts and sandals. I think the dichtonomy of having a totally awesome robot upper half and a total slacker human lower half will be most effective. That, and I don't want to wrap duct tape or trash bags around pants or something.

EDIT: almost forgot, I need to hot glue a magnet somewhere on the inside of my torso unit so I can attach a bottle opener to myself.

I might end up having to hire something in stead. I saw a couple of alright costumes today, of Wonder Woman and Catwoman.

There is 6 days left on that auction, and they are in the US. There is no way I can get them before the party I'm going to :P I have seen auctions like that before, even in the UK, but again they were for multiple swords and just wouldn't be able to get delivered in time.

I actually had dinner with Sonny Landham once. He's a really nice guy - he and my former pastor are really good friends, so I met him through church. He gave a serman, and he's a really good public speaker, too.

For those of you who don't know, Sonny Landham played Billy in Predator, as well as the Indian on 48 Hours, not to mention numerous other films. He was also the laugh of the Predator.

Loklorien s'Ilancy

Fun fact about Sonny Landham:

Sonny had bodyguards with him while shooting Predator - not because there was worry of him getting hurt, there was worry that he'd end up hurting someone else :)

For Halloween, I was a Vancouver Police officer. I was the "poor sport" that was stoping all the violent parties, and under age drinking in public places.

Garen took our little girl out trick-or-treeting. He was dressed up as a horse, and she was dressed up as a pumpkin, and they took her little red wagon and made it look like an old farm wagon, and after her legs got tired (that was quick to happen), garen just pulld her around to all the houses in the waggon. And actually making a Ripper costume is so much cooler than just shaving your head and strapping rocket things onto your chest!

I know!! I love the Rippers, and incidentally they were also designed by Stan Winston Studios, those genius craftsmen who brought us the Predator :D

I'd love to be Raziel from that series, though Kain is quickly becoming my favorite now... anyone played the last game, Defiance?

Look at Shawn's avatar. Look at the two girls going nuts over the Soul Reaver. Take a guess. ;)

Shawn, btw, use dull pins if you're going to be drawing liquid latex lines on your face and sticking them into it. Because if someone bumps your face... OW.

I'm not in the habit of having people bump into my face, but I'll take your advice anyway, just in case. o_O

And it's about time for me to replay Defiance. Gotta do that every other month or so.

I am tempted to join you, Shawn. It's been a while since I played any of the series. I need my Simon Templeman fix.

I saw a ps2 copy of Defiance at Gamestop for 10 bucks, so I snatched it up right quick. I've not been in the habit of regularly playing games for a while, but I come home and play it once every other morning after work. I'm not gobbling through it like I did with Soul Reaver, though. I'm taking my time and thoroughly enjoying the experience.

I've heard that you'd want to use RAZOR sharp pins... otherwise, you can tear the latex. Course, since they'd be pointing AT you...

If he just used really sharp things, he wouldn't even need the latex. Maybe a trip to the ER after the party, but it'd be worth it.

Sorta like the old idea of going as the Human Torch from the Fantastic Four. Just go to a party, douse yourself in gasoline, yell "FLAME ON!" and light a match. Only works once, though.
