Miami at Buffalo and Pittsburgh at SD are going to kill me this week. I so desperately want to go with both road teams. But I can literally think of almost 10 times when I expected the Dolphins to beat the Bills in Buffalo and ended up seeing the Fish make Hootie cry. Just how good is San Diego? If the game were at Heinz Field I'd go with the Steelers without a second thought. After b-slapping the Pats on the road the Chargers should be able to 'protect their house'. But the Steelers are coming off a bye. They'll be rested and ready and Bettis should be ready to go which will give their goaline offense a big boost. Man, these games will drive me nuts until kickoff.

Very tough call on the Miami game, if it were in December I would definetly pick the Bills. Then again with Holcomb ast he QB maybe they will rally around him.

Vick won't be starting against the Pats today. Shaub has played well when he's gotten the ball, but this should give the Pats an edge. The Falcons are going to rely that much more on the running game, which is their real strength anyway. Shaub does seem to be pretty accurate, but it's still the Pats and I have to believe they're going to make things tough for the backup.

Jedieb
Oct 9th, 2005, 11:12:04 AM
At least McGahee is one of my fantasy backs. Stupid Fins. :cry

Figrin D'an
Oct 9th, 2005, 12:37:34 PM
Maybe Green Bay finally got something going in the second half of the game last week against Carolina. They're demolishing the Saints at the moment. Not that the Saints are very good, but at least the Packers are playing with some fire and passion today.

Najeh Davenport is hurt, though. Down to their third string running back. They'd better hope it's not a serious injury.

jjwr
Oct 9th, 2005, 12:54:07 PM
Schaub has been pretty good, going into the game I was thinking that he would probably do more damage as the Pats injuries are all in the secondary.

Dillon is finally running good and Brady is on, now if only the Pats D can stop them...

Go Bills!! :)

jjwr
Oct 9th, 2005, 01:12:28 PM
Wow, Brady just threw a gorgeous 56 yard TD pass, just incredible rainbow throw. The receiver was Bethel Johnson who is incredibly fast and he just took off and Brady lofted it.

jjwr
Oct 9th, 2005, 01:13:16 PM
Wow, Green Bay is up 42-3 on those poor Saints. I think I picked the Saints...whoops!

jjwr
Oct 9th, 2005, 01:50:13 PM
Falcons just got totally screwed by the replay rules. Schaub rushed for a 1st down but the refs said he stepped out. Replay showed he was obviously in bounds but because the play was ruled dead and the whistle blew the Falcons could not challenge it.

Great for the Pats but horrible rule, every play should be reviewable regardless if the Whistle has been blown.

Jedieb
Oct 9th, 2005, 02:35:59 PM
Lord I HATE the Patriots! Yet another week that you see they're the only team in the league that seems to know how to work a clock. And the damn Dolphins, why do I even bother giving those fins the benefit of the doubt. I should have known they'd let me down. And can we finally just admit the Ravens SUCK? Honestly, getting manhandled by the Lions, can it get more embarassing. Actually, I didn't watch any of the game so I'm sure all of Detroits points were the result of fluke plays and bad calls.:rolleyes

2-6, easilty my worst week of the year and possibly EVER. Bye, bye first place. :cry

jjwr
Oct 9th, 2005, 02:46:45 PM
No worries Jedieb, I know I didn't do well either. I had the Pats obviously but picked the Ravens, Texans, Saints...need I go on :)

Clock managment is the one thing for the Pats that hasn't slipped, very sloppy game and they easily could have lost but they pulled it out. Brady is on fire and Dillon is starting to run hard.

Ryan Pode
Oct 9th, 2005, 03:12:29 PM
Two thoughts on the Ravens/Lions game.

1. Usually when a QB throws a pass forward and it hits the ground, it is considered an incomplete pass.

2. When a goal-line pile is moving backwards the runner could not have made it to the endzone.

Jedieb
Oct 9th, 2005, 03:17:37 PM
Good to see the Packers and Favre get a big win at home. I know it's early, but the Cowboys are really sticking it to the Eagles. Even after this FG by the Eagles, Bledsoe is moving the ball down the field. I wouldn't mind getting this pick wrong.

Oct 9th, 2005, 03:40:11 PM
Excellent! Go Cowboys! I'm beginning to hate the Eagles, they should have lost lats week and will hopefully lose this week.

JMK
Oct 9th, 2005, 03:54:15 PM
Mediocre week for me so far at 4-4. The late games look like a split too.

It was nice to see the Falcons put up a fight with someone other than Vick at QB. But as usual the Patriots get the benefit of a lucky rule/call, as jjwr pointed out. Even when the Falcons tied it up, was anyone really thinking that Brady & friends wouldn't get into FG range?

Jedieb

Well, at least we can take some comfort in that the games predicted wrong were mostly very close games or turned around in the last minute. The predictions were not so bad, they just swinged the wrong way. In other words; we dont suck hard.

Excellent! Go Cowboys! I'm beginning to hate the Eagles, they should have lost lats week and will hopefully lose this week

Jedieb

The defense did a great job in the second half to keep them in the game, but they were just inept on offense. Ferrotte is not the answer. At some point, the Fins are going to have to get themselves a legit QB,

Jedieb

Denver just sealed the deal........... wow, defensive holding nullifies a sack that would have put the game away. Washington still has life.

I'm up to 7-5 so far. It could have been such a nice week if a few teams had come through. I was really expecting Tampa to pull it off and I thought St. Louis would take care of business at home. I didn't feel comfortable picking Philly, but after what they did to KC last week I couldn't go against them.

Jedi Master Carr
Oct 9th, 2005, 07:14:15 PM
Yeah me too, Philadelphia looked good three straight weeks, so I figured they win again, guess they just had a bad game. Plus Mcnabb was probably just too banged up to pull out another one.

The Steelers bumped me up to a miserable 6-8 I believe. Damn, I was hoping to make it through the season without a single below .500 week.

The hit on Ben's knee looked bad. The Steelers are actually in pretty good shape with Maddox if Ben goes down. But if they have to rely on Batch they're screwed every which way but good.

jjwr
Oct 11th, 2005, 12:13:08 PM
Actually they are saying the knee injury wasn't as bad as it looked and he may play this weekend.

One thing they did say last night was Maddox hurt his calf in pratice on Friday is out for 3-4 weeks so it would be Batch if Ben can't go.

Jedi Master Carr
Oct 11th, 2005, 12:31:47 PM
They better pray Ben is okay, Batch is horrible. I think I am 10-4, I had my second best week.

I am 9-5 I forgot about the Jags game, I thought I picked the Jags but I picked the Bengals.

Trade question... I was offered a trade in one of my other leagues...

Bledsoe, Pittman, and Parish for C. Dillon and A. Green. This would help my QB position, since my two options are Brooks and Dilfer, but would leave me with Pittman, Foster, Droughns, Bell as my running backs. Choices.... ><

The way I see it, he is trying to get 2 of your best running backs (Dillon being a stud) for an ok quarterback. While your RBs are starters, Pittman is only a backup to Cadilac. I have no idea who Parish is. Surely, there must be another way to improve at QB. Try sending some trade offers yourself with RBs at bait, or check what is on the waiver (injuries happen from time to time). I would rather suffer a while at QB than doing a trade like that.

I'm going to have to agree.

I rejected the trade, but he's come back with 2 counter offers, only for Dillon. Mainly Bledsoe and Pittman for Dillon, with an added defensive player here and there. I should just tell the guy that Dillon is not for sale. *is in a keeper league, and might add dillon as my extra keeper if we add an extra spot for next season*

Of course, this guy also told me that he'd be willing to trade to help out my running game, since I had Foster as my number 3 RB. And he said that he isn't a solid #3. So, uh, why then try to take my number 1?

I was offered another trade from someone else, Mi. Clayton and good ole Ricky Williams for Droughns. I thought about accepting, but I might want to wait for this week's games, just to see how all three do,
