According to it's website:
Xfire makes online gaming easy.
* See when your friends are online & what game they're playing
* See where they're playing and join them with one click
* See what games the friends of your friends are playing
Basically, it's a little tool that offers a few features that would be useful to gamers, particular who play multiplayer online. It allows you to communicate with other people, even if you're both playing different video games. For example, I could be playing GuildWars and Rie could be playing World of Warcraft (;)) - we could use Xfire to talk to one another without having to quit our respective games.
In the same way that last.fm/audioscrobbler tracks the music you've been listening to, this also keeps track of how much you have played a certain game - both in the last week, and since you registered with them.
For example, here's my profile: http://www.xfire.com/xf/modules.php?name=XFire&file=profile&uname=jenj3087 Yes, it's a little empty at the minute since I just registered :p
The website also offers a number of demos and other game related files, including Dark Age of Camelot 14-Day Free Trial and a full, free version of Anarchy Online.
