I hope this is okay with the admins. If it is not, please feel free to delete this thread.
Unless you've been living under a rock, you know about the recent disaster of Hurricane Katrina and the damage that has been inflicted to New Orleans and the Gulf coast.
Maybe it's because I am utterly in love with that part of the world. Maybe it's because I've left my heart in New Orleans more than a normal person should. I don't know. I have felt compelled to do anything and everything within my power to help the affected people in this tragedy. I am doing so with both my wallet and my volunteer work.
Now, this isn't a game of one-upsmanship so lets not make it anything like that. If somebody has something to give to this cause and they do, then that is great. Even the tiniest of effort means so much. I've helped feed the homeless every year for the past five or so, and you have no idea how much something like a mediocre warm meal that costs 50 cents to make can do to lift somebody out of their personal dilemmas.
What I'm offering is an ability for those who wish to donate money to the red cross to be able to magnify the money they donate. My company is currently setting up a program in which they will donate 50 cents on every dollar that the employees donate. I have already used this to donate $150 to the Red Cross. What I thought was, wouldn't it be a great idea to open this to my friends? I figure that everybody would like to maximize the amount donated to the survivors of Katrina.
That being said, what I am prepared to do is accept donations through paypal. I can then take that money and submit it to my company, who will donate even more money to the red cross.
My paypal address is: Loungiemu@hotmail.com
If you feel like this is a bit insecure for your tastes, then that is fine. I strongly urge you to donate straight through the red cross, or your preferred charity. Don't feel compelled to do this, it is simply an option for those who want to make their dollars matter a little more.
Like I said, if this is inappropriate, please delete. Thank you for your time.
