Statement on the Famine at Raltiir
Raltiir currently boasts a population of twelve billion, however food resources are sufficient to support fully without rationing ten billion. Efforts to bring food the system in the form of convoys have proven ineffective - Rebel activity has commandeered over eighty-percent of all dispatched aide thus hampering any relief. The Rebellion has condemed over two billion people to death as a result of their attacks. System defenses as well as the Sector Fleet have exerted their full force in combating the Alliance and while successful, have been unable to stop all attacks on shipping. In the last three months, Rebel attacks have destroyed and put to death the civilian crews of nearly a thousand transport ships.
Imperial warships themselves have emptied their holds and run supplies into the system but such actions have proven unable to even dent the awesome need of feeding the populance.
In a move designed by the Ministry of the Interior and the Imperial Navy, two billion residents are being relocated to other worlds where foo-supplies are plentiful. Homes are in the process of being constructed though the actions of the Rebellion have destroyed several of the ships bringing pre-fabricated housing to the alternate sites thus delaying further the total effort to relive the suffering of Raltiir's citizens.
Governor-General Donus Iora issued a statement to the Rebellion that was not answered or acceeded to. " Imperial ships have flown the white flag and were still prayed upon- thanks to you hundreds of millions of people are dying. You are brutal animals and deserved to be hunted as such."
Grand Admiral Telan Desaria, Baron of Raenoria, is currently leading transport efforts on behalf of the Fleet. " These people will be a given a life that does not end in starving. The Empire could not allow such a thing, only in the Rebellion. Despite their attacks, we will save as many as possible and return peace to the loyal Imperial citizens of Raltiir."
Attacks by the Rebellion continue unabated though special detachments of Imperial warships are hunting them down and destroying them.
