View Full Version : An idea

So it's been bugging me that TSO is more of a conglomerate of darksiders rather than group with a common mission or goal. I feel that TSO needs to act more like a team. Hence, I have arrived at a solution for my complaining. A group training mission.

But wait! Nearly every training mission has never been completed nor been very exciting!

I think my idea might solve that a little. Here's the scenario: The elders of TSO have put togther a mock situation for the apprentices. There's a mock murder in the palace and it is up to the apprentices to solve who did it, where it happened, how it happened and (hardest of all) why. The apprentice(s) that arrive at the proper conclusion will be honored with IC recognition of some sort.

Only we elders will know the full answer and won't be playing. The thread will be moderated by a 'narrator' who describes the clues to those playing to avoid people creating a solution that is easiest for them.

For (a simple) example:
Apprentice1 walkes into the library and scans the walls and surroundings for a clue.
Narrator: The library is kept and clean as usual except for a dark scorch mark on the east wall.

One of the elder's will play the narrator, I'm willing to do so. A number of options are available to the apprentices as they can choose to band together and figure things out or solve the puzzle themselves for greater reward. What might make things more interesting is to see how each character works with the others, but that is solely up to those who play the characters. I already have a story in mind ready to implicate, but I need approval because I'd like to use the elder's characters as either victim or perpetrator. Just a reminder: None of the events within the mystery have any reprecussions IC.

Victim: Lady Vader (Because you're the biggest name within TSO and still a big name throughout the rest of the boards. Such a high profile might attract attention)
Perpetrator: Sasha.
How: Force choke. (Subtle, yet effective.)
Where: The Sepulchre.
Why: A dispute over power. (How very Sith like...)

There's so much more to it, such as clues and what not but to write and explain all of them would be long winded. Though I can list them if neccessary.

I think it would fun and a good exercise and might liven up the boards here a little. I think its simple enough to work. If it doesn't... well then it didn't. So do I have permission to start this using the characters mentioned?

:lol Colonal Mustard in the dining room with the candle stick. I think this sounds like fun!

And I get to "die"! :lol Though that'd have to be some hefty Force Choke. Something else mightneed to be done to make it believable.

Ok, so we can certainly do this, but for the sake of attracting attention, why not stick it in the storytelling forum as opposed to here? Just a thought. :)

Oh, this is an awesome idea. I've always wanted to roleplay a murder mystery!

Well, I'm glad I've got some approval, as well as some excitement about it. Now we're just waiting on Sasha as he's slated to play the culprit, if he accepts it. The rest of us, since we're all on the suspect list, are free to throw in the occasional red herring and keep things interesting.

I'm basing this closely off of a game of Clue, except no dice involved and a few more variables. The list of rooms will be based off of what we already have as boards. As for how it happened, I'm working on a list of evidence supporting the correct conclusion as well as lists supporting incorrect conclusions. The same goes for the why, there's a list of evidence supporting the correct and incorrect but its not compiled just yet. The where is almost obvious, but I'll do something to spice it up.

I'll post the organization parts up as soon as I get them together and hopefully we can get this started without a problem.

Should this only be for TSO or shall we involve all of SWF? Hence my suggestion of putting it in Storytelling.

I say we have all of TSO be the suspects, etc etc, and the rest of SWF can jump in and try to solve the case at the same time TSO is trying to solve the case.

BTW, can I haunt the hallways with my "ghost"?

My original idea was to just include those in TSO since its kind of a trial version. If it works out, then yes, I'd love to do a sw-fans wide attempt. It's just I don't know how well it will go over, there's probably going to be quite a few kinks in it the first time around. But if you think we should make it a board wide story first time off, then lets do it.

Well, I like the idea of everyone being involved, but you bring up a good point about the kinks and trying it first before "releasing" it so to speak.

What do the other elders think?

Well, I know Zereth can't post for the time being... I guess that leaves Sasha?

I think a trial run would be the best idea. This type of idea isn't exactly the simplest one, so it's best to start small and work our way up to more involvement if it works with just TSO.

Good observation, Jen.

Ok, lets just keep it to TSO, but we could still put it in ST. Or would you rather just keep it all hear and then move it out if it works out well?

Having the thread in ST would probably garner more attention :)

Alrighty then

Thread in ST.

Thread only for TSO.

I think we're pretty much set with the preliminaries.

Now to actually get the thread started! :)
