I didnt know it had happened until late Tuesday. Courtney was going to go with me to her visitation today...but I just couldnt bring myself to go - it would make it too final for me. I guess that makes me a bit of a coward, huh?

Tamika was one of the girls who used to call me "Mom" when she went to the Jr. High. She would have been a sophomore this year :cry

Senseless things like this happen so often these days, but when its someone you know/love it can be completely stunning.

It's ok you didnt go. You know what you can take, and what you cant. It was probably the best decision.

No, you’re not a coward, that’s not true. I’d use words like brave, strong, and resilient.

No matter who we are, we all have to take as much time as we need to come to grips with anything and everything that has happened—that is the only healthy way to decipher the riddle of life. Some wounds run deeper than others and require more time to come to terms with—I won’t lie, not everything heals over and becomes invisible, but then we wouldn’t remember, and that would be worse.

So, you’re not getting any thoughts of “coward” from this corner. Instead, I send you my love and support for being an amazingly courageous person.

*hugs* I'm so sorry. :( I hope they put that guy where he belongs! It's such a shame that we don't catch these people before they really hurt someone. *hugs again* And I think I'd be the same if I were in your shoes. Something like this is too hard to comprehend.
