Anyone ever drawn a picture or want a picture drawn for them? Ever have an idea of some little alien or the look of a spaceship but couldnt quite get the picture in your head looking like its supposed to on paper?

Or maybe you did but had no place to brandish your new found creation. Or want a place to have it critiqued or find a person to lend some hints.

This got me wondering about creating an art thread. For people to stick up pictures they've drawn or take requests for pictures to be drawn from the various artists around these boards.

Anyone interested?

It's not finished, but I sketched this up last night while munching on nachos at Applebees.

And, working on a theme for the convention I've been invited to as Guest of Honor. The theme is Furry Pirates, so here's my "Jolly Rover"

Somehow I pictured him skinnier. It's probably because of your other angel pic.

Great sketch man.

I'm liking his forearms, doing foreshortened elbows is always tricky for me.

What do you sell at the conventions? Prints, and your comics?

Here are a few sketches I did last night for fun.

first ones some amphibian frog man I came up with. I basically wanted an all arms n legs lanky thing

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v98/Bunzout/DaFrogman.jpg

The second one is basically just some big meat head with muscles. Wasn't going for something perfect on the anatomy side but something exaggerated.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v98/Bunzout/MrMan.jpg

Kelt, I really dig that Jack the Ripper picture you did. Awesome atmosphere. I dont know if you did it on purpose or not but the darkness around the edges makes it feel like your looking through someones eyes before they shut them. Nice job

Every picture you post with you improve Charley. I think that middle one is one of your strongest though.

I like the flame effects you did on that first one Khendon

Here ya go Daiq.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v98/Bunzout/Daiq.jpg

Some notes on it. I liked the way it was turning out as I was drawing it . I did come into a few problems dealing with perspective if you look the main torso/head/shoulders are different from the rest of the body because i kept changing her position. So when it was finished and i took a step back to look at it I wasn't really happy with the end product.

This just means ill be drawing another one until I'm happy with it:p

Heres Serena. Its still a work in progress but I only had one chance to scan some pictures this weekend and I didnt want to wait until next week before I could again so I scanned what I could.

I took creative liberties on her dress :p Made her more monkish since shes a healer and all. I had the other hand finished but didnt realize until after i scanned it that the thumb was facing out and not in like it should be so I erased most of it.

I havent decided if i want to finish this piece of just draw up a entirely new one

This is me bored out of my skull and dorking around at work.
Crappy scanjob (http://s93860457.onlinehome.us/Random%20Stuff/scan0001.jpg)

More random sketches inspired by my thread. Some drawings are super sketchy, and one is more finished and inked. I've since inked a few more of the sketches due to the looms being in pristine form this past week.
More goofery (http://s93860457.onlinehome.us/Random%20Stuff/scan0002.jpg)

Grrr, s'il broke her scanner on purpose :mad Now I gotta use my digital camera in a ghetto rig :(

Anyway, she did finally convince me to use my markers on the original drawings in my sketchbook. I gotta say, it was a good idea.

Apologies if the pics are blurry and dim. They are much much much better in the book. If I get an open-face scanner I'll show the difference.

More fun with prismacolors :)

I'm much more of a messy user than Charley when it comes to these markers. I usually don't even try to stay in any lines, instead going pretty nuts with my strokes. Very haphazard work, to say the least. The only drawback of prismacolor markers is that they can give you nerve damage; which might explain the behavior of some artists ^_^;

I'm not really satisfied with the head tentacles, but I still had fun coloring it either way.

I'm by no means an artist of any sort - except for the musical one. BUT I got bored, so I decided to try my hand at drawing in GIMP Image Editor (a 100% free and totally legal Photoshop clone.) Nothing fancy, just 45 min. worth of work, but I'm pretty pleased with the result:
http://www.keegster.net/lightsaber.jpg
This is the style of lightsaber hilt I would imagine Saveer to use. It's my first attempt at a PC sketch, so I'm pretty happy with it. My hand drawings are horrible, though :D.

EDIT: Put in the full blade.

http://www.keegster.net/saber.jpg

EDIT AGAIN: Added in some decent textureing, and made the blade more realistic... just a different style of the same piece of art.

Awesome job Saveer ^_^ Though I do admit, I rather like the first style of blade you did. It feels and looks more like a stylized illustration than the second. Sometimes flat colors work wonders without shading and highlights.

Here's my newest one, drawn up and inked last night at work and given a quick solid color job in PS a little while ago:

http://s93860457.onlinehome.us/misc/yevethan.jpg
A Yevethan. I still need to work on the slender build that they have, but otherwise I like how he came out. I think you can guess the inspiration I had for the body armor and stuff. Yevethan are completely hairless, but I explain the 'hair' as trophy scalps/locks of hair from kills that are sewn into a head-dress. The longer the 'hair', the more kills a Yevethan warrior has under his belt :)

Yeah for that and the other piece I posted a few weeks ago I used a small render from c4d and Photoshop. Though I would say 95% of it was done in photoshop.

Litika Dor
Jan 4th, 2006, 01:24:41 AM
*is madly, madly envious of s'Il's drawing skillz* Isn't everybody?

Alright, as I'm now playing on the Forums as one Litika Dor, real name Astrela Xylen, I thought I'd put up a couple character drawings. Old, but they're the better ones I have...

Litika/Astrela (http://photobucket.com/albums/v606/ISJ/?action=view&current=AstrelaLitika.jpg) (Please forgive the complete suckitude that is this ten-minute sketch...)

Headshot with some deformed excuse for an ear (http://photobucket.com/albums/v606/ISJ/?action=view&current=LitikaUnf2.jpg)

And Astrela (before taking on her alias and disguise) with her late Master, Arakim (http://photobucket.com/albums/v606/ISJ/?action=view&current=0978befa.jpg) (This one's a bit old, too, and was just a doodle, so there's a lot wrong w/ it...)

A couple other SWF faces, from before the reset:

Quick cartoony doodle of Corias Bonaventure (property of Andrew Kibelbek), on the edge of some notes. Probably Economics. (http://photobucket.com/albums/v606/ISJ/?action=view&current=CorDoodle2.jpg)

The eventual fate of Rhea Kaylen (think poisoned wine) (http://photobucket.com/albums/v606/ISJ/?action=view&current=EotC1.jpg)

And now for something completely different:

Why charcoals are gooood (anybody else here read Dragonback?) (http://photobucket.com/albums/v606/ISJ/?action=view&current=CharcoalDraycos.jpg)

Why cartoons are just more fun (http://photobucket.com/albums/v606/ISJ/?action=view&current=HaveYou.jpg) (and here (http://photobucket.com/albums/v606/ISJ/?action=view&current=EvCrawler.jpg) )

Why furries are best left up to the professionals, like Mitch over there (http://photobucket.com/albums/v606/ISJ/?action=view&current=Nkeshna2.jpg) (though on occasion even amateurs can get it right, or pretty close (http://photobucket.com/albums/v606/ISJ/?action=view&current=NduktheHunter.jpg) , though you'll notice I'm still stealing from Mitch...

By the way, any other Phantom Phans (http://photobucket.com/albums/v606/ISJ/?action=view&current=CometoMe.jpg) out there?? (I've actually got a newer version made of this, with him holding a beribboned rose, which I like better, but which is on my computer at school)

And as soon as I send Mitch his Christmas presents and get his permission, I'll post some brand spankin' new drawings, not like these relics...

Ciao.

<img src=http://s93860457.onlinehome.us/misc/gts.jpg>

The Stranger.
<img src=http://s93860457.onlinehome.us/misc/stranger.jpg>

A very bad scan of a WIP - an early Loveloxx Lupine, most likely during the days of House Eidelbrendt.
<img src=http://s93860457.onlinehome.us/misc/ll.jpg>

Arya in the middle of a change - this is also still being inked.
<img src=http://s93860457.onlinehome.us/misc/arya.jpg>

Linked for size, this is a page for the accessory design for the dress that s'Il gives to James. There's a Sanis thrown in ther because, well, I don't really know. James is a bit off IMO, as I'm still trying to get my hand used to her.

You're far braver than I. I was too weeny to use pen so I stuck with my pencil.

I love your crosshatching, and especially the hair :D And I also echo what Andrew said - you're improving by leaps and bounds. Go wild with the style and get a feel for it, then start adding your own touches. Looking at other people's art and trying it on for size is a great way to really get a feel for how alot of people draw; whether they draw with big swooping motions or quick, sketchy little lines. My old anatomy teacher used to call the latter form of drawing 'pencil masturbation'.

And I got bit by the same arty bug ^_^; I'm a little obsessed with the Una hairstyle atm :)

Well, I didn't really intend for her to, but Una can be a bit of a klepto, so there's a very real possibility that she snarked some pieces from that uppity queen's wardrobe.

Dalamar DeSang
Apr 12th, 2006, 06:24:46 PM
Hmnn I would say about a hour for spiderman... 2 for wolverine just because it took a long time to color... Usually 15 to 20 minutes... I don't really time them.. I'm taking some art classes.. So Actually the stuff your seeing is about 5 or 6 months old scanner was down and just got a new one... So like I said you will see more as I dig it all out.. the stuff I kept anyway.. I give away a lot of art.. Some of it gets stolen..

I had these really rock you cool Dalamars that I did.. Stolen... Both of them.. I have done some tats for people. Just the artwork I don't mess with blood..

A problem that I have is I cant figure out how to put color in the pictures with paintshop pro.. When I paint it covers the lines up also.. I see you guys do it and I know there is a technique I don't know..

Hopefully I can take a paint class after this first one is done. I'm learning some cool stuff. :D

^_^ Oh! Thanks!

Okay, I only have two decent ones scanned right now...I've been in a real drawing slump since...okay, so I can't even remember...

So. First up, Shiva (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v606/ISJ/shiva.jpg) from Final Fantasy X. I was doing this w/o a ref, so, yes, her costume is snarked. At least my scanner didn't chew up the shading gradient on the loincloth...

And here's (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v606/ISJ/Liella.jpg) my half of an art trade with Kale...a character from one of our RPs. Kale's a Trekkie, so this is a...something-or-other from Trek who's one of the main characters. Her name's Li'ella, and, yes, her head is too big, and, no, I'm not happy with the shading on her bra, but I was getting bored of shading it...

Okay, that's it for the moment, but I'm getting all artsy again, so I should have some more soon. ^_^

PS: I hate Photobucket...it makes my pics teeny!

Question!

How...um, racy are we allowed to get here? It's not smut, just female nudes--suggestive, but largely tasteful. IMO, anyway.

They'd be links, not uploaded pics, so they wouldn't be directly visible on this page. Kosher?

Lilaena De'Ville
Jul 24th, 2006, 05:15:28 PM
As long as they're tasteful (nothing sexually explicit) and there is a warning before the links so unwary browsers dont' get fired from work for looking at them, it should be fine. :)

Litika Dor
Jul 25th, 2006, 08:16:53 AM
Loooooovely, thank you. Alright, so, porn, okay, here we go:

WARNING: Following pics are, in fact, NUDES (as in, nekkid girls), so don't open these where your girlfriend can see or anything...;)

My actual character from SWF! I know, I'm as shocked as you. I swear to goodness this was going to be a G-rated pic when I started, and I kept telling myself, No, you are not going to cop out on the clothes. You're not. So of course I did...I think Litika's been angling for a centerfold for quite some time, anyway...

Imrani Kama Sutra 1 (http://x5.freeshare.us/115fs186792.jpg)

And then, here's Litika as a younger woman, the way she is supposed to look. This would be when she was still Astrela, pre-disguise and everything, and I'm kind of hoping the two pics' facial and body shapes look enough similar to be the same person, only about twelve years apart and with different hair and eye color. I'll let y'all be the judges.

Imrani Kama Sutra 2 (http://x5.freeshare.us/115fs186830.jpg)

And NOW...for something completely different.

That is, not porn. I spent last night forcing myself to do some character designs for the Webcomic That Ate My Brain, aka my webcomic WIP One Woman Show. I thought I might share my new sketches w/ you guys, see what you think, get your feedback, before I embark on the actual comic...these (http://x5.freeshare.us/115fs187010.jpg) are the main characters, "Mad" Matt Lang, the potential love interest, and then the heroine, Annie. All three girls on the bottom are Annie--left and right more her usual attire, and the middle her attempt at dressing up. I didn't mean for them all to be interacting with each other, but it came out looking that way. ^_^

Okay, that is all for now. I want your unabashed opinions...
