Goodbye and Godspeed, Commander Scott. May your dilithium crystals be forever undamaged and your warp drive perpetually well-maintained as you commence your voyage into the final frontier.

At his death, Scotty was a Captain (TNG Episode: Relics).

Raises cognac - to the best Engineer in the Fleet. May your course by true, your voyage unending.

:(

Very sad, although at 85 and suffering from Alheimers disease, he's probably liking it a lot better now.

Though I knew his passing would be sooner than later (his condition had been deteriorating for the past few years), it certainly doesn't make it any less significant. I, and all other Star Trek fans, will miss him dearly.

My condolences to his family. Rest in peace, Mr. Doohan.

Yeah, I think maybe LD (correct me if I'm wrong) posted a link some months ago about how he had developed alzheimers and would be making his last public appearance. The end for him was going to be soon, and as I watched First Contact last week I wondered how he was doing. I guess now I know. :\

I wasn't completely surprised at his passing, but still greatly saddened nonetheless. The first memory that came to mind after hearing of his death was of a banquet my mother and I attended with a bunch of Trek folks, and Jimmy went dancing through the banquet room with a tray balanced on his head.

Godspeed, Mr. Scott.

I don't think it was me who posted the link, JMK, maybe it was Lady Vader. :)
