It was 229 years ago today that the United States of America won its independence, becoming a sovereign nation.

Happy 4th of July everyone and Happy Birthday America.

Now for the fireworks.

We were going to roast it in the front yard but my cousin couldn't bring over the big roasting rack. So we just cooked it at our diner :)

Your family is just like the one in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, isn't it.

:D

We had a great time at my sister's house with lots of sparklers, kids, and fireworks. We're not allowed the fireworks that shoot into the air, but they sell them in Washington (about a half an hour away) so the neighbors probably had over $1000 of illegal fireworks each, shooting off around us. We had quite a show.

Why are you all celebrating, you silly colonials? You should be weeping that you are no longer under the benevolent wing of the Great British Empire!

I went to a concert. Saw some country acts. Zoe, Deana Carter. Then a big fireworks display... But believe it or not me and the kids had more fun.. With the giant beachballs that where being thrown around the Stadium.. We hit them and had a blast...

We would then try to knock them up to the top level. Where everyone ooohed and ahhed more for that than the fireworks..

Basically we had fun... AMERICA, America.. Still the best place to live. No matter how much its being run down... By others.
