Okay we tried this the last couple of years and I thought it was fun, I am even up for a live draft again. I figure we do yahoo since it is one of the few free ones out there. So anybody else interested? Also which is better Head-To-Head or Points only? And I have to remember to increase the playoff length I remember that from last year.

Ok I will set it up this week and post the link to it. When should we do the draft? We can do it early like end of July to early august or late August. I prefer late August because somebody is bound to get hurt in camp and you have to adjust your rosters in that case..

If anybody has a problem with anything let me know, I tried to adjust some of the numbers based on what we learned last year, like I added KR and PR to Team Defense. Also set the live draft at 4:45 on August 26th, I wanted 5 but it wouldn't let me pick 5 for some reason.
Edit you might have to go to create team and put in the id and pw
here it is 150671
Also on there it mentions you can't have a draft if you have odd number of managers. Does that mean if we have 7 teams we can't have a league? I don't remember that rule last year.

That may be too early for me, I don't get out of work till 4:45 so it may not work too well. I can check my schedule this week and see, we may still be on summer hours and getting out early so it won't make a difference.

I could go later like 7PM I figure 6 is dinner time for East coast people so 7PM would be safe. That is too bad Kyle I wish you could have participated. Just make sure to pick the top 25-50 players that you would want to pick that way you get close to the team you want.

I don't mind though we need an even number of players to get have the league going, (you got me why this is the case that is what was said when I started it but I don't see anything listed on the yahoo thing about it) I will look at it again to make sure. It would solve the problem if we could convince somebody else to join. Anybody else out there interested?
Edit
I sent an email to yahoo FF Customer service about it. Hopefully, I will get an answer back quick. Now if we get 12 person then it doesn't matter.
Jedi Master Carr
Aug 23rd, 2005, 02:47:11 PM
Okay I got an email back finally, here is the deal if we have odd numbers we have to do points only, can't do head to head in those with odd numbers because of scheduling with bye weeks etc. So if you want to come in you are welcome and if we can't get a 12 team I will just switch to points only. Anybody has a problem with that?

Only a few hours away for the draft!
Hope we get a good turnout, its more fun with other people there to jaw with.
I have no real strategy for the draft, haven't even looked at player rankings and the like, definetly winging it this year.
Figure I've been doing fantasy sports for about 5 years now and have yet to do really well at it and typically try too hard ahead of time so tonight I'm just gonna let it flow and go with my gut.
Jedi Master Carr
Aug 26th, 2005, 08:12:10 AM
yeah that is the best strategy. Also I am hopping Mu joins before tonight. I emaled her and PM her and hopes that helps. If by 5 I don't hear from her I might have to change the league to points only because of the odd number of teams, other wise we could have the draft. With points instead of head to head we can do odd teams. Would rather not do that way so I hope Mu gets in on time.

Yeah, I guess someone could set up a yahoo account and join the league for her if she does not turn up in time.
We definitely need head to head IMO. Furthermore, is it even possible having a live draft with an odd number of managers?
Jedieb
Aug 26th, 2005, 02:15:29 PM
We've got 2 hrs and 40something minutes to go. If no one has any objections, I'm gonna set up a team for Mu and let the computer draft for her when we hit the 1 hr 15 minute mark. My fee for this task is simply, I get to name her team. And the price she'll pay for not setting up her own team will be a heavy one..... :evil

Can't draft with odd managers because that starts the season. So go ahead Jedieb I have no objections you will have to just give her the id to the yahoo account and go from there. If she gets on before the draft she can control that team you create for I think as well.

Nathanial K'cansce
Aug 28th, 2005, 09:39:03 PM
yea, I agree there. I thought it was a fair trade. I think Parker will have the chance to be big this year, and Coles is with Pennington again, right? (where they ever together on a team? My mind is shot right now....) That has a chance to = numbers.
And Priest Holmes... mmmmm, yum.

Priest Holmes won't see week 5.
Jedi Master Carr
Aug 29th, 2005, 10:22:13 AM
You are saying that because you drafted Johnson :p Seriously if he gets hurt it will be towards the end of the season. The last two times he got hurt he got hurt in week 9 and week 12. His body will hold up at least for the first 9-10 weeks the question is can they keep him for 16. I think they can because they will not use him every down they will probaly give him about 25 touches a game and give Johnson 10-15. This will keep Holmes rested to finish the season. Although you wonder after Johnson made that 97 yard run in the preason, he could see a little more action.
Ryan Pode
Aug 29th, 2005, 07:40:33 PM
I think they should trade Holmes to some dumb team for a first round pick and use Johnson.
Jedi Master Carr
Aug 29th, 2005, 08:00:15 PM
It is impossible because of the cap, the Chiefs would take a huge cap hit. They will use both, I read an article on the KC star earlier they are going to try to play both of them as much as they can.

What a crazy weekend. I did well in SWFans league, but struggled in other leagues.
Daunte Culpepper. -4 points in a league I have him. What the heck happened to him? Is the Minnesota offense just as bad as it looks? A couple weeks ago, I got a trade offer in one of my leagues Culpepper & D. Mason for C. Johnson & J. Delhomme. I thought "what an incredible steal! I get a MVP candidate and a first round round pick for a my third round pick. Wow!". Needless to say, accepted the offer, but I am wondering now if Culpepper will go down this year. If its a continuing trend, I might try trading him again, heh.
A. Lelie, Burleson, L. Evans, Ward, R. Wayne. Got burned on these receivers in leagues I am playing in. Disappointing.
Brett Favre. Ouch ouch ouch. Got him in 2 leagues. -2 points. Hope he will bounce back.
Huge start for K. Collins. I picked this guy in several leagues. I am obviously happy about that. Oaklands throwing game looks for real.
No matter how disappointing some think Dillon was, he is a huge upgrade to my #1 running back last year Clinton Portis. I gotta dig a RB who score 2 TDs in one game compared to Portis who scored 4 the whole season last year. Kevin Jones looks like he got lots of upside.
Kansas running game is such a monster, the #2 RB on their depth chart Larry Johnson steals the glory from Priest Holmes. Incredible. LJ is now a viable fantasy starter.
Monster running game from Pittsburg as well. Admittedly, they faced a poor defense, but I am so starting W. Parker next week.

LOL well there is nothing wrong with it :p I still like Vermeil he is a very good coach, would like to see KC reward him with a SB so he could retire gracefully.

That was a great pick Ryan, I snagged him in the other league I was in but didn't start him, I Just didn't have the heart considering he was playing against the Patriots. Course had I Played him I would have won.
Need 10 Points tonight from Julius Jones to take the win...go Jones!!

Yeah, that was probably the best value pick of the draft. Spectacular 25th round pick. Amazingly, in one of the leagues I am playing in, both Stephen Davis and Thomas Jones were still available as Free Agents on the waiver wire as of this weekend, so I jumped to pick them both. Needless to say, I am very happy with those pickups!
I made some horrible decisions this weekend though. One of them was picking up and playing the Detroit defense in several leagues. Worst move EVER! I also benched Hines Ward in 2 leagues. Stupid, stupid.. arghhh.

Thank you Julius Jones! I snuck out the win last night by 1 point! Whoo!
I know its too late to change now but I'm really hating our free agency pool, the rosters are so huge there is almost no one worth anything out there to go after. My receivers kind of suck but no one in free agency is even remotely better.
On that note, anyone need a QB? I have a few solid backups and could use even an average WR.

Lucky! *shakes fist* I checked last night before I went to bed, and saw you needed 9 points. I was like, well, another win for me. Then I checked this morning, and I had lost. I swear I did a sleepy triple take on that.
But ya, I agree with our lack of free angency pick ups. They are lacking.
And I have Vick as a Backup QB. ^_^

I went to bed thinking I had missed it by 2 points but after the Skins rallied the Cowboys had another chance at offense so he picked up those last few points I needed so that was a nice suprise this morning.
I've got Carr & Manning(Eli) sitting on the bench. Both are solid producers and sadly providing me more points than Marc Bulger.

If Bledsoe had thrown for 500 yards and 6 touchdowns I would have scored an EASY victory. :crack

In one league, I might be benching Peyton Manning for Hasselbeck next week. How sad is that? Im probably also going to to bench Culpepper for Collins. The football gods have not been nice to me lately >_<
In Swfans league and CC.net, I had decent chances to win this weekend, but monstergames for my opponents on monday prevented that. Freaking Santana Moss, Glenn and Tiki. In 2 leagues, I lost with 1 and 2 point margin. Before Monday, I had good chances to win 5/8 leagues, but lost 7/8 instead. Its crazy :x
At least, I am doing good in Survival Football so far. There were 50 players, 40 of them are allready knocked out! Shows how crazy some results have been. For your information, I picked New England in week 1 and Colts in week 2. Picking Eagles week 3.
Trying to get to grips with salary cap football too, but I have a slight decrease in value there. Hopefully, going to improve.
Btw, if anyone is willing to trade a good/great WR for one of my RBs, I might be interested in that. I guess the likes of Terrel Owens, Moss, Holt, Horn, D. Jackson, Chad Johnson, Ward, Driver etc would be difficult, but it never hurts to ask. Im open for suggestions :)
And if anyone cares (which I doubt!), I would not mind ridding myself with either Losman or Harrington.. :lol

Sadly it looks like we may have one dead team already, my game this past week I won a game I may not have otherwise cause Kyle's wrecking ball had 1 guy on a bye and 2 empty slots as well as a injured David Akers as his kicker.

I'm barely even paying attention to that pool. I have no idea how it works so anything that happens to my team is not because of something I've done.

Two words have kept me strong in our league:
STEPHEN DAVIS.
And yes, I will bring his name up every week until he gets hurt.

I changed Kyle's team for the best I could. I have been doing the same for Mu since she doesn't have access.

Mu is doing great. Maybe we should rethink helping her out..... ;)
