One year after the beginning of the Jedi purge, on Naboo, a small child was born to Jedi parents. Much to the fear of the father, the child was strong in the Force, unusaully strong. The father had done well to hide his Force abilities from the Empire for some tme, but he was not sure how long it would take before they disovered his son, but he decided to chance it rather than uproot his family and have them on the move. Thus the story of Jacen was born.
Three years after his birth, Jacen's father's, Xantial, worst fears came to bear. The Empire was doing a random sweep of the planet when they noticed the child's strong Force nature. What was more, it was trained. Xantial had taught his young one basic Force tricks. Stormtroopers were soon at the family's door, only to find that they had fled, but before they could close off the spaceports, Xantial and his family were off planet and in hyperspace, but where they would go was unknown. They traveled from planet to planet, always having to leave soon after because of Jacen.
Finally when he was seven years old, they agreed to visit the planet Dagobah, prehaps Yoda would have some advise. Thier visit however was not promising. After talk of old times, the matters grew serious as Xantial laid his problems out. After a long moment, Yurza sighed and shook his head. "Strong inthe Force, the boy is. But strong enough he is not. Dark his future is."
Xantial begged and begged Yoda to help him, to train Jacen, but Yoda profusely refused. Finally frustrated and tired, Xantial took Jacen and his family off of Dagobah and finally settled on the planet of Caluula.
For the next ten years Xantial trained Jacen in the ways of the Jedi. He showed much potential with a lightsaber, but his true passion was healing people. Though he wasn't the best, he studied and put much effort into it. Soon he become a marvelous battlefield medic, but that was about as far as his abilities went. Soon after his father told him he was ready to become a Jedi Knight, the Imperial Stormtroopers came and found them. Though he was able to save his mother and a younger sister, his father died.
Jacen took the blow very personally. His father had always commented on his great lightsaber skills and for a year, Jacen blamed himself for not putting more work into it. He walked very closely to the darkside, until he finally saw what it was doing to the rest of his family. Finally he overcame his anger and promised he would avege his father through helping people that the Empire ruined rather than through killing.
