But, it's a little much. Can you maybe simplify it and whittle it down please? There's just too many ranks and whatnot to read without getting crossed eyes. Maybe just list the major/most recognizable ones.

As far as I can see it is broadly correct- if one ignores the fact that one does not have flag and line officers in either the Fighter Corps or Army- he's got it about right.

The most "authentic" system that I have encountered is this one:

which has been developed to match the various insignia one encounters in the SW galaxy. It is a rationalisation that I find most compelling.

The lower levels remain broadly the same as Earth armed forces because the range of duties that are carried out at the bottom of the pile are going to be broadly the same. Additional ranks are added on account of the larger units that one can assemble out of a Galaxy spanning military.

It is also from here that I got the idea of Executors.

N.B. The neat arrangement at the top is not that accurate. As I have said elsewhere the exact relationship between Moffs, Grand Moffs and Grand Admirals, Executors is not clear because of the nature of the Emperor's style of governance.

You may interchange flag officers with command officers when speaking of the Army/Fighter Corps.

It is a comprehensive list that has omitted intentionally the political commands (moffs, governors, et al).

The major ranks would be considered as follows
