Baralai sat before a table of sprawled out parts, nuts and bolts and various crystals and wires. The only complete thing before him was his new lightsaber. Built by himself, it was simple, just your average lightsaber that any force user would carry.

He picked it up and threw the switch on the side. The soft hiss was heard echoing throughout the chamber, and he watched as the red blade lit up the once dark corners of the room. This was his new life, his new weapon. But something came across as wrong, a simple saber was too little for him to use. Not enough power in a saber, not enough fear could be instilled. Plus, there was always more one could do.

Baralai looked at the table before him and turned his saber off, placing it back onto the table. He slowly opened it up and looked inside to see the red crystal and power fusers glowing inside, slowly cooling off. Baralai sat at the table pondering, wondering what he could do to make this weapon more. . .interesting.

He pulled a datapad from his trenchcoat pocket and began to scribble notes. Longer range was the first thing on his list. He slowly began to draw out his new saber, and within a few hours he knew exactly what it was he wanted.

He scoured the rooms containing spare parts within the temple, and even went so far as the shipping docks. He came back with exactly what he needed. He carried in his hands, a chain, about five to six feet in length, the chain was protected by a cortosis cover. He rushed back to the table where his lightsaber was and began work on what would be his masterpiece.

He placed inbetween each link of the chain, small directors. These were in place to direct energy into one path and continue the flow of the energy in one constant direction, a loop. This way, the blade could be extended but not fry itself. After a few mor modifications to the cooling system, making it stronger, along with an attachment that allowed the chain to be attached to the output of the blade, it was finished.

As he closed the hilt of the new weapon, he smirked, looking at it with glee. Although heavier, this new weapon was able to be used while ignited or not. And the power he had with it, it was simply amazing. Baralai wrapped the chain up and locked the hilt into his belt. The loop of the chain went on the inside of his coat, staying in a nice coiled bundle.

He turned, looking for something to try his new weapon out on, something just for target practice. As he roamed the courtyards, he saw a tree, dead, decayed and dying more and more by the second. But it seemed sturdy enough. He smiled and stood, his back to the wind. He reached inside his coat and unlatched the handle.

With lightning fast reflexes he threw the chain out and watched as it wrapped around the tree. Bark flew off in several different directions as the chains gripped tightly around it's hollow trunk. He pulled the whip tight, and threw the switch which ignited the saber. Like a snake, the beam crawled out from inside and covered the chain in its fiery red glow.

The beam hit the tree and the chain slid effortlessly through it, send the charred remnants of the trunk to the ground. As the branches fell toward Baralai he pulled the chain up into the air and with a flick of the wrist he began to slice the branches apart. They fell to the ground in several pieces, landing all around him.

He chuckled slightly as he deactivated the blade and pulled the chain back to him. It rolled into a smooth loop and he locked the hilt into his belt and placed the chain inside his coat once more. He smiled as he looked into the sky, lighting up a victory cigarette, enjoying his newest creation.

"It's so wonderful," he said, "that we are given the power to create everything. Life can be so. . .exhilirating when you know how to use the power the universe offers." He chuckled as he took a slight puff off the cigarette and billowed smoke high into the sky.
