Decided to post a new thread on this. The trailer for GOF debuts Saturday night during ABC presentation of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secerts. Also USA Today has a big article on potter and it is out here

http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/news/2005-05-03-potter-first-look-main_x.htm

I love that pic :)
Also here is another article about Radcliffe

http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/news/2005-05-03-potter-sidebar_x.htm

He confirms he will play Harry again for the Order of the Phoenix. I think that means he will finish the series. WB would be nuts to try to recast that part for the last two films.

This is the first I hear of this - awesome news. :) GOF is the only one of the books I've read (picked it up after I saw POA), and I thought it was better than the previous installments.

Goblet of Fire is by far my favorite book so far, though the ending of Order of the Phoenix is going to be incredible on film.

Can't wait to see the trailer, that picture is great as well! We should get some incredible visuals in this one with the Dragons and Underwater challenge

If you pick up the USA today you get a clear shot of the Dragon and a better shot of the Goblet with Fred and George trying to trick it . I do think this could be the best of the Potter films, it sure will be the one with the most action.

COOOOOOL! What movie is the trailer gonna be attached to? Anyone know??

Darth McBain
May 4th, 2005, 12:36:26 PM
Sounds neat - although I have my reservations. I though the third movie was only "okay" (I know, I'm probably in the minority here), but I think too much was glossed over. With GOF even longer (by a considerable margin) than Prisoner of Azkaban, I'm afraid that they're going to cut more and more meat out of the story, leaving it as just a stunning visual movie with most of the story omitted. Hopefully not, though - I really like the series and I want this movie to do well...

There are a lot of things in the story that can be left out though, I don't agree with all of the changes from Prisoner but they did a very good adaption of it. I'm hoping they will do a LoTR and release a slimmer version in the theatre and give us another 45 mins or so on the DVD that fills in the gaps of what they couldn't fit in.

That would be an awesome idea - have a theatrical release to please the masses and then an extended DVD release to please the fan-boys...

It really could work things like....

Hagrids Crush on the other Giant, early scenes at the Quidditch World Cup, Dursleys and Grangers households, bits and pieces with Mad Eye.

All would be cool to see but aren't really necessary for the main story to go forward.

My biggest worry is if they will properly flesh out the death eaters and the other quidditch players/schools before they all show up and become a big part of the story

Jedi Master Carr

Yeah it is tough to juggle this story although there is plenty to cut. I know they have cut Spew and Bagman's subplot completely. Not sure what else will get cut out. Some pics have been released here is one of the dragon

That is a very cool pic, I think that sequence is going to be amazing.

Yeah the maze seems bigger of course it could be the angle making it look that way. Of course the maze covers the entire quidditch field so maybe it makes sense. And yeah they have sure grown up, it is hard to believe the changes from 11 to 15.

Either I blinked and missed something, or else we got cheated out of the trailer on my ABC station. I saw all the behind the scenes stuff, but the only trailer I saw was the one for The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Needless to say, I'm mighty peeved. :verymad

Thanks for the link, though...at least I can see what I missed. :grumble

EDIT: Nice trailer, definitely. Oh, and btw, did anyone else get irritated by the fact that it was rare to go longer than 10 minutes in COS tonight without getting interrupted by commercials? Gadzooks. :\

Jedi Master Carr
May 8th, 2005, 10:24:55 AM
I know they showed a lot of comericials. Also I didn't see the trailer during COS either I just found the link. I am not sure if they put it on during the night unless they put local comericals on over it here.

Rutabaga
May 8th, 2005, 11:47:01 AM
I'm guessing they put local commercials over it here. Probably the one with the preacher telling people to come to the meetings he was having here in Santa Maria. On May 5th and 6th. They showed that ad not once, but twice. Duh. >_<

Oh, and btw, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe looks promising. And I also loved the commercial for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I don't care what anyone else says, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a must-see for me this summer. :cool

Very nice trailer, the opening was great with the aging kids.

The tournament is looking great, it makes it seem very serious and ominous. The series is moving in more of a adult direction and the trailer seems to be trying to push that.

Jedi Master Carr
May 9th, 2005, 10:59:20 AM
Yeah I loved the opening montage too, that was a great touch kind of like the ROTS trailer with the OT footage. The tournament does look great from what they show, but I really like how it ends when they show Goblet of Fire title, Dumbledore's line is so perfect it shows where the movies are going from here.

Nobody I know saw the trailer during the broadcast...not a huge sampling of people, admittedly, but reports are from different parts of the country. So, it's making me think either lots of places covered it up with local ads, or else the info that the trailer was going to premiere during the broadcast wasn't accurate.

Not that it really matters that much, since it's viewable online. :)

Overall some great pics, this is the next movie that I can't wait for.

I thought the same thing, great picture though. Its neat to see them standing on the set with the green background.

Gleeson was in that as well as a host of other things, he's a very good actor.

Jedi Master Carr
Aug 2nd, 2005, 10:04:43 AM
Gleeson is a great actor, IMO he has been in so many movie it is unreal, like he was in 28 days, Troy and The Village in pretty much a year timespan. I think he will do a great job as Moody. One pic we don't get is any of Voldemort which I am not surprised. I think WB won't show anything of him until the film comes out.

Jedi Master Carr
Aug 8th, 2005, 08:39:33 PM
Goblet of Fire is going to PG-13 that has been announced by WB. I think that shows which way the series is going, darker more mature. It won't hurt it any because PG-13 isn't like R. Heck I saw a lot of underage kids at ROTS, the Spiderman films and the LOTR films and they were all rated PG-13.

Shawn
Aug 8th, 2005, 09:13:58 PM
I don't think there's any way they could have gotten away with a PG rating without cutting the graveyard scene at the end. And that would be really dumb. :)

Jedi Master Carr
Aug 8th, 2005, 09:21:24 PM
Yeah that is why I think it got PG-13 Between Cedric dying, Pettigrew getting his hand cut off, and the return of Voldemort PG just wasn't likely.

jjwr
Aug 9th, 2005, 04:34:47 AM
If they play up Cedric like they should, then his rather sudden death at the end should be a great shock, I know when reading it that it happened so suddenly that before I knew it I was 2 lines past and had to go back and make sure thats what I actually read.

Jedi Master Carr
Aug 9th, 2005, 02:26:07 PM

I just went back and looked at this picture again: http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/images/2005/08/dumbledorepensieve.html

Now, I'm not inclined to stick in the previous movies and check, but was Dumbledore wearing that black ring in Prisoner of Azkaban? Because it looks like it could be the Horcrux from HBP. It doesn't seem far-fetched that they might introduce it early, like the Ron+Hermione stuff in the PoA movie.

Possible, but I find it unlikely since when Dumbledore took possession of the Horcrux, it destroyed his hand - which appears to be intact in this picture (although we can't see the other one...). Still, they may take some liberties, so who knows...

Jedi Master Carr
Aug 9th, 2005, 06:57:39 PM
More than likely is a a different ring. When they were filming GOF, I doubt they knew of any HBP spoilers, it does look like that ring though but I think its an odd coincidence.

jjwr
Aug 9th, 2005, 07:07:28 PM
You have to figure this was filmed well over a year ago, I doubt they would have that refined of a detail, and how Dumbledore gets the ring is a huge part of the story.

New international trailer has been on the net for a few days, I haven't posted it yet becuase the versions of it have been crappy, but I have found the best one that shows it off the best

http://www.mugglenet.com/download.php?f=gof/gmtvgoflarge.zip

Great teaser, shows off the Death Eaters (they are in the black hats they sure look creepy), Moody, the Maze, etc. The scene with Harry falling I think is the pensive, its the only thing that makes sense to me. So far looks very very cool.

Darth McBain
Aug 18th, 2005, 03:54:59 PM

Jedi Master Carr
Aug 18th, 2005, 04:02:43 PM

Jedi Master Carr

Some other thoughts about this teaser. First the Yule ball those scenes look very good, especially with Hermione and Krum. It looks like they are setting up that she likes him maybe in a crush sort of way, which works because it will make the scenes between her and Ron even better :p Also I forgot to comment on the Lake's audience stands, those things look very impressive, the whole Lake sequence will probably be amazing.

Darth McBain
Aug 19th, 2005, 04:25:37 PM
I thought it looked a little cheesy when Harry went rocketing out of the water, but otherwise, I agree, the Lake sequence looks like it will be pretty cool

Jedi Master Carr
Aug 19th, 2005, 06:45:03 PM
I am curious why he does that, if he did it bring Ron and the girl out that would make sense but I didn't seem dragging anybody behind him. I guess he was showing off heh. I just liked the stands they looked great on the lake and I think the merepeople are going to be great.

Wow - trailer looked really good. I think that you're right, I bet that was Voldemort towards the end of the trailer - looked creepy...

Yeah he did, looked like a white human snake in the face, of course that fits with the book.

Here is a good pic of Voldie. I won't post the pic just a link to it, in case people want to stay spoiler free of it until the movie.

Finally saw the trailer this evening...some people at Rotten Tomatoes hate the trailer with a passion, but I don't know what they're complaining about. Yes, I do think the international teaser is the best of the trailers so far, but this new US trailer is mighty fine, with lots of stuff jam-packed into it. And I'd figured that was Voldie at the end...ah, perfect, just enough of a glimpse to make you go aaaaahhhh ooooooohhhhhh :).

I think this looks like it's going to be yet another great Potter movie, I'm really looking forward to it :).

I am betting its the die hard Harry Potter fans. The ones who want everything from the books, and I mean everything. Those people get on my nerves. Although I just checked the RT forums and I don't see that many people complaining, unless the mods there deleted those threads. I have read some complaints on a Harry Potter message board but even those get drowned out by those liking the trailer.

Actually, the die hard Potter fans are the ones liking it at RT, from what little I saw in one thread...but then there are the jerks there who just have to badmouth everything and make fun of people. That's why I don't post at RT nearly as often as I used to, because the place feels at times like it's full of nothing but insecure or self-impressed bullies who think it's the height of hilarity to insult and ridicule people.

Haven't seen a U.S one yet, I liked this one better than the some of them I have seen.

Why does Harry and Ron's hair keep getting bigger and bigger with each film? It's beginning to look ridiculous now.

As for the new trailer, I love it and this poster is nice, too.

Harry's isn't that bad, his hair is suppose to be a little out of control. Ron's hair is a little long.

I do have to agree with Rons hair, its getting a bit carried away.

Here is the international full trailer. I think it isn't as focused as the American one, though it has some new scenes, the QWC especially.

Anybody heard of this band?

To me that is ridiculous, WB is basing the band off of the one in the book, which is a play on the Weirid Sisters in MacBeth. Obviously this is some stupid lawyer trying to make money off of the Harry Potter cash cow. It will probably be laughed out of court.

For non book fans, I wouldn't look at those pics there are some spoilers in there. For those who have read GOF it isn't anything too shocking.
